This is very nice 64 Ford Fairlane 500 two door hardtop. This car is 100% original. It has 90,150 original miles, and no rust. It has the 289 two barrel motor with the 3 speed C4 automatic transmission. The factory air works good. I replaced the water pump, and had the roof repainted as it was painted laquer over enamel and was flaking off. It was taken down to bare metal then base coat/clear coat Wimbolden white and looks fantastic. Some of the body has the original paint, and other spots have been repainted the original Dynasty Green Metallic. The original bench seat interior is in great shape as is the headliner. I have installed a set of gauges and tach on a replacement dash vent insert, and have the original one I removed. I installed an fm/cd player under the dash and replaced the orginal dash speaker with two 3" Sony speakers. The original AM radio worked fine. The original speaker will be included with the car. The car drives down the highway at 70 mph perfectly. The only issue with it is that it could use valve seals, as it smokes a bit when first started. It does not foul plugs, and runs great. Just being as honest as possible. I have driven the car over two thousand miles since I purchased it, and drive it to shows regularly. I originally bought it to hot rod it, install mini tubs, install big motor and 4 speed, but the car is so original and great condition, that I cannot bring myself to do it. Ford looks back on 50 years of the Mustang in Detroit

Ford has something special sitting in its booth here at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. In fact, it brought two special somethings in the form of the Ford Mustang 1 Concept that first saw the light of day in 1962 and the very first production Mustang that rolled off the production line in 1964.
These classic creations are sharing floor space with the brand-new 2014 Mustang in honor of the pony car's 50th Anniversary. Since Ford's latest 'Stang already made its auto show debut (at a number of locations, including Los Angeles), we think it's pretty cool that the Blue Oval did something special for its home-town show.

Ford to update Sync, MyFord Touch software... again

Ford hasn't had the best luck with its MyFord Touch and Sync systems, as the finicky infotainment system has been subject to a critical whooping while customer issues have helped sink Ford's IQS scores. The automaker has made a concerted effort, though, to try and fix MyFord Touch. And while the results have been mixed, The Blue Oval is hoping its latest free update, set to go live next week, will make things better.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the new system promises streamlined voice commands with fewer levels between opening query and actual result. Ford is also addressing where certain options are selected on the touchscreen. Rather than working one of the four quadrants on the homescreen, users will be able to select anywhere within the quadrant to make adjustments.
While it might only be a band-aid for MFT's problems, the fact that Ford is still trying to improve it is a promising sign. It's going to take more than just this update to address the system's ills, though.

Ford overlooks the Big Apple in the 2015 Mustang Convertible [w/video]

Ford has done it again. Like in April of 1964, there is once again an all-new Mustang Convertible sitting on the observation deck of New York City's Empire State Building. This has been in the making for a little while, with the first report that Ford would recreate the sky-high publicity stunt coming out a few weeks back.
The process of getting the Mustang up there wasn't exactly easy. A Troy, MI-based company chopped up the new droptop, a necessary evil to get the Mustang on the Empire State Building's only freight elevator that runs to the 86th floor observation deck. But it was slightly more involved than just taking the car apart. The company, DST, built a mockup of the ESB's freight elevators, and then practiced its cuts on a second pre-production Mustang Convertible (measure twice, cut once).
The result of all this work are the images you see above. Yes, sitting in the crisp, morning air of midtown Manhattan, over 1,000 feet up, is this brilliant, Triple Yellow Mustang.
