1964 Ford Fairlane 500 4.7l on 2040-cars
Orlando, Florida, United States
This 1964 Fairlane is a project car, it runs strong. I bought this car to restore it but I have since than had a Son and I have no time or money to work on this project. The car has a new gas tank and sending unit.I have only driven this car around the yard because it needs breaks. I was going to have the breaks redone but when it was on the lift we notice the frame was cracked so we took it off the lift, the frame is broken and needs to be repaired, the car still rolls. The frame broke from what appears to be a leaky battery and the corrosion from that ate through the frame. The frame is repairable by someone who does that type of work. There is bondo in all the body pannels, doors and roof. The interior is nice and clean. There is aftermarket factory air that was put in the car by the dealer at the time it was puchased in 1964. The car runs strong, it did drive before the frame broke, it would make a good project car.The car shifts fine, but the shift cable needs to be ajusted. Make no mistake this car has to be fully restored. The car has most the trim on it, you will need to find some sails for the sides, they are out there and you can pick them up on line. The trunk is solid and the chrome is nice. I am not putting a reserve on this car so the highest bidder takes it. Once the frame is repaired, brakes redone, and the shift cable adjusted, this car can be a fully functional day driver while you restore it. |

2014 Saleen George Follmer Edition Mustang debuts at Lagun Seca
Sat, 17 Aug 2013Saleen used the occasion of the race-fueled Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to announce its new Heritage Collection Lineup. The event was punctuated with the debut of the collection's first member, the 2014 Saleen George Follmer Edition Mustang.
Follmer's name will likely sound familiar to fans of American racing in the 1960s and '70s. The driver competed in Formula One with the Shadow team in 1973, ran the Indianapolis 500, was the Can-Am champion in 1972 and drove stock cars in NASCAR's Winston Cup as well. The multi-disciplined driver is now one of three -the other two being Mark Donohue and Swede Savage - with the honor of upcoming, limited edition Saleen-tuned vehicles..

Ford dealer gives James Robertson new 2015 Taurus
Fri, Feb 6 2015James Robertson, the 56-year-old Detroit native famous for walking 21 miles to work each day for the last 10 years, is behind the wheel again thanks to a gift from a Ford dealer. Robertson became an Internet sensation when the story about his daily ordeal came to light, and a GoFundMe campaign initially hoped to raise $5,000 to buy him a new ride. As of this writing, it has reached over $300,000. He didn't have to dip into any of that money to buy the new car, though. According to The Detroit Free Press, Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights, MI, heard about Robertson's story of never being late to work and having perfect attendance. The dealer is donating a fully loaded, red 2015 Taurus to him. It's not one of our choices, but certainly nothing to sneeze at. Robertson started walking to work in 2005 when his Honda broke down. According to the GoFundMe page, his job is about 23 miles away, but thanks to Detroit's poor bus network, he covers about 21 miles of that round-trip trek on foot each day. Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy
Tue, 07 May 2013With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.
