HERE IS A BEAUTIFUL HIGH-END DRIVER IN THIS AESTHETICALLY AND MECHANICALLY RESTORED 1959 FORD FAIRLANE CUSTOM 300 TUDOR SEDAN WITH MATCHING NUMBERS DRIVETRAIN THAT IS TURN-KEY AND READY TO DRIVE ANYWHERE!
Please e-mail me with questions or to set up an inspection to see the car in person. AUCTION MAY BE STOPPED AT ANY TIME.
Vehicle came out of Wisconsin. Previous owner has had the car for the last 10+ years, slowly doing it up in his spare time with the help of his wife. There are pictures available of what the car originally looked like. Body was stripped to bare metal and repainted, complete NEW interior was installed (seat covers, carpet, door panels, headliner, etc. etc., NEWLY rebuilt motor, NEW gas tank, NEW weather-stripping, all new tune-up components. Odometer shows 98K miles which are BELIEVED TO BE ORIGINAL and the car drives fantastic!
Body is VERY STRAIGHT with excellent original gaps. Doors open and close nicely. Body does NOT appear to ever have been in any major collision.
Under the hood lies the original MATCHING NUMBERS 292ci Y-block engine (COMPLETELY REBUILT approx. 5k miles ago) with correct and original 3 speed manual transmission on the column. Everything is pretty much stock except for some new service parts installed. Mechanically it fires right up and sounds great along with the nice exhaust system. Transmission is solid and shifts great without any noises or grinding and clutch is excellent. I drive the car about once every other week for short trips around down or every once in a while I'll take it to a cruise night on the highway. It has never let me down and always performs great.
Interior is basically all stock ALL NEW PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED. Overall beautifully presentable for a high end driver.
Underside has a ROCK SOLID frame with NO rot or major rust. Good floorboards with some fiberglass repair in a couple of places and very nice and solid trunk.
The old girl is NOT perfect by any means of course so please keep that in mind when bidding. Paint is in VERY GOOD shape throughout, and although it looks great and has plenty of shine, it is a bit wavy down the sides and could have been block sanded a bit better. Bumpers could use rechroming/replacing. Not working: radio, perhaps a bulb or two may need replacing. When you turn the wheel to the left it doesn't go all the way so the turning radius is bigger turning left than right. Couple of rock chips on the windshield. Front side vent windows need replacing. Front driver's side window has a crack.
So overall she is not perfect but she's DAMN NICE!. Please note, I cannot remember every single issue with the car, nor do I know everything wrong with it, as it is after all over 50 years old so keep that in mind.
If you just want a GREAT LOOKING TURN-KEY DRIVER then this is the car for you. If you want a show car, it will need some work to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.

The 11 most expensive American cars ever
Tue, 12 Aug 2014Here's a Pro Tip for all you would-be classic car investors out there: buy Ferraris. With the Pebble Beach festivities kicking off this week, including any number high end car auctions, we thought it would be entertaining to compile a list of some to the most expensive cars ever sold with the bang of a gavel. Trouble is, once you get past the splendor of everyone's favorite Italian sports car maker, that list is pretty boring.
Ferrari dominates the all-time auction sales list; seven of the top ten most expensive cars sold wear the Cavallino Rampante badge, as well as more than half of the top fifty. Sure, a nearly $30-million Mercedes-Benz W196 racecar might be the new top dog as of last year, but it's even possible that Ferrari could take that title back in Monterey this weekend. Long story short: we think a list of the most expensive American cars ever sold at auction is a lot more entertaining to read. Hell, our list has a friggin' Batmobile on it, how can it go wrong?
Follow on below for the top ten cars that are red, white, blue and a whole lot of green.
180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains
Wed, 21 May 2014If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.
Ford predicts it will finish 2013 as top-selling US brand
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Ford is ready to call the ball on its 2013 sales totals, predicting a first-place finish for units sold in the US for a single brand. The company anticipates selling more than 2.4 million vehicles when all vehicle sales over the last 12 months have been tallied, repeating the victory it trumpeted over Toyota last year.
According to Ford's accounting, it sold 329,677 more vehicles than did Toyota in 2012. This year, the Blue Oval expects that margin to grow; through the end of November, Ford says it has outsold Toyota by 396,041 units.
Retail sales of Ford products are projected to exceed 1.7 million units for 2013 (the best retail result in 6 years for the company), with passenger cars accounting for 600k of that total. The redesigned Fusion is expected to crest the 290k mark, and the Fiesta is said to be ready to hit a model-record of 70k-plus. Meanwhile, utility vehicles and trucks are still paying a lot of bills in Dearborn, with the new Escape racking up an expected 300k sales and F-Series trucks chugging along at 688,810 units sold thru November.
