1959 Ford Fairlane Skyliner Retractable - Old School Look Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Holden, Missouri, United States
1959 Ford Fairlane Skyliner Retractable This is not your grandfather's Skyliner. All the heavy lifting has been done over the last 10 years, so if you like to tinker this might be right up your driveway. Some updates include: * 352 motor with pointless distributor *New ignition modules, coil, plugs, wires and carb *Motor has no clicks clacks, knocks, smoke or leaks *Runs even and purrs at idle *Fuel pump, filters, hoses and clamps *Die hard battery *Power steering pump *U-joints *Dual exhaust (left side donut leaks) *Complete brake job *Heater core and hoses *3-spd automatic transmission - NO slipping, shifts positive *Tires are 90% *Top goes up and down when operated ALL MAJOR COMPONENTS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. Shop manual is included for the handy or Jerry's Classics in Arkansas specializes in Retractables. I highly recommend them for parts/labor. Good honest shop. The body is solid, straight, blocked and painted with yellow/black 2K primar sealer. An added bit of aged patina enhanced the theme of the car. Professional body work and paint have held up well over the years. This old iron still has the original floor and trunk pans. Never was a rust bucket. If your looking for something different, a one of a kind show stopper that you'll never see at any car show, you should consider it - not only for its investment grade (only 12519 built), but you'll get more bang for your buck and "that's cool man" comments, then the trailer queen beside it. I guarantee it. Mabeline has unfortunately been parked for the last couple of years and only run occasionally due to health reasons, but it has never failed to start up and go. Starts, Runs, and Stops. The car needs to be enjoyed, driven and loved to make her happy again, so it's time to find a good Ford family to refresh her. Now I'm getting misty so I will leave it at that. If you have any questions please feel free to call me anytime. Happy highways everyone. -Gary- I am listing this for a buddy, so please DO NOT EMAIL!!! You can reach Gary at 816-716-7086 |

2016 Ford Explorer revealed with new 2.3-liter EcoBoost
Wed, 19 Nov 2014
A 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder takes over where the old 2.0 left off, making 270 hp and 300 lb-ft.
Right now, around 23 percent of all Ford vehicles sold in the United States is a utility vehicle. By 2020, Ford expects that figure to increase all the way to 29 percent. Put simply, SUVs and crossovers are very big business at Ford. So, when it comes time to update the Explorer, Ford's original sport utility vehicle, you can be sure that a whole heck of a lot of effort goes into the process.
Next Ford F-150 delayed for aluminum body panel issues?
Wed, 11 Dec 2013The timetable for next-generation Ford F-150 may be in trouble if a report from The Truth About Cars is true. The next F-150 is slated to make extensive use of weight-saving aluminum in its body, but the aluminum alloy provided by suppliers hasn't met Ford's requirements in the earliest phases of pre-production, according to the report.
The F-150 represents a huge portion of Ford's profits and is the best-selling truck in the US, even in the face of increased pressure from cross-town rivals General Motors and Ram. While the current truck is treading water against its competition, we'd be lying if we said the F-150 weren't growing quite long in the tooth.
If production of the next-generation of the Ford cash cow, said to be based on the Atlas Concept from the 2013 Detroit Auto Show (pictured above), is delayed, it could be bad for Ford. Production at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant is already set to be delayed six to ten weeks, missing an internal on-sale deadline of Memorial Day.
Ford turns Navistar from truck business customer to rival
Mon, 19 May 2014There is a showdown brewing in the medium-duty truck segment next year as Ford prepares to launch its all-new, in-house engineered 2016 F-650 and F-750. It finally marks the end of the Blue Diamond joint venture between Ford and Navistar and, making the two entities direct competitors instead of partners.
Ford announced the end of the joint venture in an investor report in 2011, but it didn't reveal the new F-650 and F-750 until the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, in March. Unlike the current, Mexican-built models, the new generation will be built in Avon Lake, OH, starting in mid-2015.
The challenge from Ford comes during a rough patch for Navistar. The company had a $248 million loss in the first quarter, according to The Wall Street Journal, and its medium-duty truck market share is currently down to 26 percent, from 36 percent in 2011. Building the previous-generation Fords brought in about $400 million a year to Navistar, according to the WSJ. To take on its former partner, Navistar plans to offer its International brand of medium-duty vehicles with more engine and transmission options to customers. It even struck a deal with Cummins to put its diesels in some of the models.
