1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Barn Find. Great Project, Auto Trans. No Reserve on 2040-cars

You are bidding on a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 project. The car is complete and very rust free. I have all of the trim, nuts, bolts, fenders, lights, wires, clips, body pieces, bumpers, radiator, everything. Two years ago the vehicle was driven to where it was disassembled for a repaint. The front clip was removed and the interior was disassembled. The project was started but never completed. The car is complete minus the front windshield and drivers door glass. (a new front windshield is available for $300.00). This is a big project. But now is your chance to get a great car for cheap money this is a no reserve auction.....Pictures are worth a thousand words so look closely. In the pictures the front sheetmetal is only held in place with rope. The power front seat and rear seats are not pictured but are included and have been reupholstered the same color as the door panels. The car was running prior to it being disassembled. The only known mechanical issue at the time was a leaking transmission. The mileage is questionable hence the 111,111 in the listing. It has a clear CA. title and it is currently registered as non-op. I am not exactly sure of the motor size. I don't know what it is worth and I will not end the auction early. Ford hybrids getting update to improve fuel economy
Tue, 16 Jul 2013Ford has announced that it is introducing "calibration updates designed to improve on-road fuel economy for owners of the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid."
We can speculate that these changes are at least due in part to lawsuits over mileage claims of hybrid vehicles. The automaker is enhancing 2013 models starting in August by raising their electric cruising speed to 85 miles per hour from 62 mph, optimizing the use of active grille shutters and the climate control system, shortening the engine warm-up period by 50 percent and reducing electric fan speed to minimize the fan's energy consumption.
It bears mentioning that Ford is doing pretty well in the US electrified vehicle market this year. The company claims to have grown its share in the segment by 12 points to 16 percent while taking a high number of Toyota Prius trade-ins in the process. Conversely, Toyota has experienced a five-percent drop in new-Prius sales over the same period. Additionally, Ford states that it has increased its share of the US vehicle market by one percent this year, more than any full-line automaker.
Car and Driver 10Best list cracked by Tesla Model S, BMW 3 Series left off
Fri, Nov 21 2014Car and Driver is keeping new blood pumping into its annual 10Best cars list with three new entries making it on for 2015 and a perennial favorite falling off. Among the biggest shocks this year is that the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series are no longer named, despite years of some portion of that lineup earning a mention. In another surprise, the Tesla Model S (specifically in S 60 trim to fit under the $80,000 cost cap) makes it to the 2015 roster and is the only electrically motivated member of the group. Despite the loss of the 3 Series, BMW isn't entirely shut out this year, because the M235i gets its name on the list. Car and Driver argues that the little coupe feels like a welcome throwback to the E46 chassis M3 of the early 2000s. In addition to the Model S, the final newbie to the annual group is the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. The inclusion of these new members knocks the Audi A6/A7 family and Ford Fiesta ST out from the 2014 rundown. The other seven models carry over from last year, including the Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Honda Accord, Mazda3, Mazda6, Porsche Boxster/Cayman and Volkswagen Golf/GTI. The 2015 10Best cars list certainly seems to have something for everyone from the hot hatch fan to the family man and even the green car driver, thanks to the addition of the Tesla.
