Here we have an extremely rare 1957 Meteor Rideau 500 Club Victoria. This is a relist due to a purchaser who could not follow through financially with the purchase of this car, so I'm giving it one last window before it is put away for the winter (translation: please be serious with available funds to purchase this great car if you want it!). This is one of only 2254 built. It was Ford of Canada's version of the 1957 Fairlane 500 Club Victoria. Essentially, drive train, chassis, body sheet metal and interior options were identical to the Ford, but the Meteor wore much more stainless trim, had tri-tone exterior finishes, and different grille and emblems around the car. Because these cars were only sold in Canada, and the climate here caused such a poor survival rate of these cars, there are only a handful of these left in driving or restored condition today. This Meteor is an older frame off restoration done in the early 1990's, and is an original West Coast car from new. I purchased the car from the previous owner who restored it. It was refinished in its original tri-tone color combination of yellow/black/white, and retained the original yellow and black interior as it was in very nice condition. There is a slight wear mark on the driver's bottom seat cushion, but the rest of the interior is in remarkably beautiful condition, including the original dash padding. This car has no rust issues and no bubbles in the body work. The paint still shows beautifully but has a few minor stone chips. The driver's door needs a slight adjustment to bring the rear edge a little more flush with the quarter panel -- I think the new weatherstripping is too thick and needs to be cut down slightly in a few spots. Drive train is a 292 yblock V8 with a newly rebuilt, correct 1957 Holley 4 bbl carburetor, dual exhaust. It has the 3 speed automatic transmission.  I don't know the history of the engine and trans but they perform excellent. I did drive this car from Vancouver BC to San Francisco, CA - no issues whatsoever at 70 mph. It also has Master Guide Power Steering and Swift Sure power brakes from the factory - they work great. Guages all work, clock does not. Heater/defroster work perfect. The car has a factory continental kit as well. I am missing the small "Rideau 500" trunk script, but everything else is present and complete on the car. This car has always been garage stored and never driven in poor weather - as a matter of fact, I had it parked for the last 11 years in my garage and had not driven it, so I went through the car to make sure it was running and driving properly. I followed the car from behind and it tracked true and straight down the road. It drives and rides excellent. I also just installed a new set of Diamondback Classic www radial tires on it and powder coated the wheels within the last few months (not cheap!). This is not a #1 show car, but a super nice older restoration. It still presents very well and is capable of receiving awards at your local car show. I've been too busy with other projects to give the car the attention that it deserves. I have this car in Vancouver, BC close to the border with Washington State. I do have this car advertised locally as well, so I reserve the right to terminate this auction at any time. If you have questions, write me a line here or contact Greg at 250.640.6479 for more info. Thanks and happy bidding!

2014 Ford Cobra Jet announced with new colors, parachute mount

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

Ford's drag-strip-ready Mustang Cobra Jet is back for 2014, and it's sporting a few changes to make it even better - both in competition and while sitting still. Rolling off the assembly line ready for duty in the NHRA Stock or Super Stock classes, production of the 2014 Cobra Jet is limited to just 50 units.
Racing upgrades for 2014 include the addition of a new three-speed transmission and a parachute mount, and while these will make the car better in the quarter mile, the Cobra Jet's new colors will make it look better tearing down the track. Buyers can now get their racecars painted up in Gotta Have-It Green or a custom, Cobra Jet-exclusive matte black hue. Ford and Ford Racing have already teamed up to make this an incredible factory drag racer with a full rollcage, massive Hoosier slicks, a race-tuned suspension setup and a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. Now, if only wheelie bars came standard...
Unlike the confusing third-party ordering system announced for the COPO Camaro, all you need to snatch up a 2014 Cobra Jet is $97,990 and good timing (as the cars will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis). Ordering opens up next month with production commencing in July. Check out the press release below.

280-bhp Elemental RP1 revealed, now with bike-engine option

Thu, Jun 26 2014

The Elemental RP1 might be Britain's next big boutique roadster success story. Designed by a team with Formula One experience, it aims to mix road car drivability with racecar performance in a single, adaptable package weighing less than 1,000 pounds. It was first previewed a few weeks ago, but the secrecy has finally disappeared due to its upcoming debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The backbone of the RP1 is a carbon fiber and aluminum tub onto which the front and rear subframes bolt on. Inside, it has an F1-like, feet-up driving position that allows for additional underfloor aerodynamic aids to improve downforce. Despite its hardcore nature, Elemental says that it wants the car to be very user friendly. Buyers should be able to drive the RP1 to the track, adjust it with some wrenches, go racing and drive it home. The company even claims the storage areas to either side of the engine offer enough room for a helmet and other racing gear. Hopefully, buyers don't crash, though, otherwise they might be stuck. Elemental is adding two more engine options for the RP1, as well. In addition to the previously announced tuned Ford 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 280 horsepower, buyers can also choose a upgraded version of Ford's three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost or a model aimed at pure track use with a 999cc Honda Fireblade motorcycle engine. The 2.0-liter uses a six-speed sequential manual gearbox, and a limited-slip differential and alternate gear sets are available as additional options. The first RP1s built will be pure racers for the 2015 season, and the first road cars will follow in the early summer of next year. Pricing isn't set yet, but scroll down for more details and full specs of Britain's latest feather light car for road and track. Introducing the Elemental Rp1 Press Release: 23/6/2014 British sports car manufacturer, Elemental Motor Company Limited, today released further details of their new and innovative, road legal track car, the Rp1. The Rp1 is an open top, road legal, mid engined sports car that incorporates state of the art road and race car technologies. Designed, Engineered and Built by a team with decades of experience in the Formula One and Supercar industries, it brings the concept of a road legal track car firmly into the 21st Century. The Rp1 will be revealed to the public for the first time, this weekend, at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will located in the Moving Motor Show tent "First Glance" display.

Ford to kick off F-150 campaign during College Football Playoff

Tue, Dec 30 2014

The long-awaited inaugural College Football Playoff will feature the nation's best college teams, with the Oregon Ducks taking on the Florida State Seminoles, and Alabama Crimson Tide facing some team from Ohio. On top of that, though, it'll also see the launch of the very first advertising campaign for the 2015 Ford F-150. Viewers from across the country will see a trio of ads featuring the all-aluminum truck, with two half-minute spots and a full 60-second commercial, all voiced by Denis Leary, touting the F-150's feature set and towing capacity, but passing on mentioning the new truck's class-leading fuel economy. That, Automotive News reports, isn't a miscue by Ford. The company simply didn't have enough time between the EPA's fuel economy announcement and the 2014-2015 Bowl Season to prepare a spot. Expect plenty on the F-150's fuel efficiency in future spots. Interestingly, though, AN is reporting future F-150 advertising won't include a Super Bowl appearance. Ford has made the decision to focus its new truck ads on college football rather than during the NFL championship. "From our point of view, there's no bigger stage to debut the F-150 creative than the College Football Playoff," Keith Koeppen, Ford's US marketing communications boss, told AN. "It's so closely aligned with the passions of our customer." It's those passions that are pushing Ford to kick off its ad campaign for a new truck so much earlier. Speaking to AN, Doug Scott, Ford's truck marketing manager, said that the automaker typically doesn't begin ad campaigns until its dealers have at least a fifty-fifty mix of old and new models, but that it's pushing the 2015 F-150's ads to fit with the college football playoffs. While Ford's focus is on the two semifinal playoff games on New Year's Day and the National Championship Game on January 12, the ads will actually air for the first time on New Year's Eve, when the TCU Horned Frogs face off against the Ole Miss Rebels in the Peach Bowl. The three spots will also be shown during other bowl games, as well.
