1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Retractable Hardtop Convertible Powered by what we believe to be the original 312. Casting# EDB6015E. A/C car; however, air conditioning is not hooked up. Automatic transmission. Dual exhausts. Outstanding solid body with beautiful paint. We believe it to have one repaint. The paint is beautiful with a great shine. There are a few small nicks that have been brush touched. The body is straight and solid. Extremely clean and solid frame and undercarriage. The frame doesn't appear to have ever been touched or repainted. It is extremely solid; however, not detailed. Clean engine bay and trunk compartment. Nice interior including the headliner, seats, door panels, dash and carpet. Aftermarket radio is installed under the dash. There are a few small tears on the side of the drivers seat and in the headliner as shown in video. All lights, blinkers, hi-low beams, heater, work as they should. Horn button has been relocated under dash. Beautiful
chrome and glass! Newer tires. Unfortunately, we do not have any history of the car. Previous owner purchased the car as is from the estate of an elderly gentleman. We are unsure if / when any of the drive-train was rebuilt. The car runs, drives, stops, and steers very nice! This car is not perfect; however, shows very nice. It appears to have been very pampered throughout its life. It is most definitely an investment grade car that is surely to increase in value. It can be driven and shown as is or taken to the next level. Known flaws: -Passenger power window is weak - Rear windows are missing power motors ( previous owner was unable to locate them after they were rebuilt). - Some of the stainless trim has minor dents / dings. - Gas and temperature gauge are currently not working. Ford open to diesel, hybrid or electric Mustang? [w/poll]
Sun, 08 Dec 2013The Ford Mustang may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. The arrival of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the new Mustang could do a lot to combat that perception, but the EcoBoost engine may just be the tip of the iceberg in that regard.
Speaking with Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti at the reveal of the new Mustang in Australia, GoAuto reports that the Blue Oval automaker is considering offering its latest pony car with a diesel, hybrid or even electric powertrain in the future.
"We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options," said Fascetti. Other options could include a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed unit in order to help improve fuel economy and emissions for the Mustang, although figures for the current lineup have yet to be revealed.

Right now, around 23 percent of all Ford vehicles sold in the United States is a utility vehicle. By 2020, Ford expects that figure to increase all the way to 29 percent. Put simply, SUVs and crossovers are very big business at Ford. So, when it comes time to update the Explorer, Ford's original sport utility vehicle, you can be sure that a whole heck of a lot of effort goes into the process.
