Chicago, Illinois, United States
Selling for a neighbor. 1957 FORD FAIRLANE 500 HARD TOP CONVERTABLE WITH CONTINENTAL KIT, The car is in great shape. Her husband bought it in 1995 and it was his pride and joy, Her husband passed away about ten yrs ago and she only took out once or twice a year and now she is moving and she says its time for it to go. He put new dual exhaust custom headers and glass packs and goes out below the rear bumper (he loved the sound) still have the original exhaust manifolds that will go with the car. he also looks like he put on some chrome and bradded hoses and a aluminum radiator, still have the original air cleaner that also goes with the car, The body is very straight the only bad spot to my eye is by the driver side rear wheel well (see pics) I did not know how to put on the skirts so I took pics of them, top seamed to work fine up & down (pretty cool on how it works) The motor was rebuilt about 10K MILES ago but do not have any receipts so we cant prove it. He loved this car the pics will show you how he took care of it, as far as I know the radio and clock are there but don't work, There is a radio w/ CD player in glove box, The car starts in neutral not park. there is a new battery in it. does have power brakes with a new master cylinder on it, I did look under the car and l the only thing I seen was the passenger side rear floor was bad the rest looked good there was under coating on it and looked good except for that spot. I DESCRIBED THIS CAR TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUSTIONS PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING. Ford Police Interceptors win acceleration war against Dodge, Chevy
Thu, 17 Oct 2013Just last month, Ford announced its first-ever non-pursuit-rated version of the Police Interceptor sedan for agencies looking to maximize fuel economy, but that doesn't mean that Ford is giving up on chasing down the bad guys. While the Dodge Charger can lay claim to the fastest lap time at the Grattan Raceway test facility held by the Michigan State Police, the results are now in for the Police Vehicle Evaluation acceleration tests. And Ford's Police Interceptor duo (sedan and utility) came out on top.
In the acceleration tests, Ford says that the Taurus-based PI Sedan with the newly available 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 was the quickest among prospective police cars in both 0-60 and 0-100 mile per hour times. The sedan posted a 0-60 time of 5.66 seconds with all-wheel drive and 5.71 seconds with front-wheel drive, besting V8-powered competitors like the Chevy Caprice and Dodge Charger by more than 0.3 seconds. These rivals close the gap on the AWD sedan in the 0-100 test with the Ford taking 13.5 seconds compared to the Chevy's time of 14.35 and the Dodge's time of 14.7.
As for utility vehicles, the Explorer-based PI Utility, which accounts for 60 percent of Ford's police vehicle sales, essentially went head-to-head with the V8-powered Chevy Tahoe with similar results. Equipped with the new EcoBoost engine option, this big SUV hit 60 mph in just 6.28 seconds and 100 mph in 15.51 seconds compared to times of 8.22 seconds and 21.95 seconds, respectively, for the Tahoe. Other important tests in the PVE include braking and top speed, but while no automakers have stepped up to boast about their numbers in either of these categories, Ford's images show that the V8 Caprice had the highest top speed of the cars at 155 mph while the Tahoe's 139-mph speed made it the fastest utility vehicle.
Project Ugly Horse: Part VII

There are many things I could call this exercise. A party is not one of them.
I've spent three days crammed in the axle well of this 1989 Mustang with nothing to keep me company beyond a trouble light, a DeWalt drill on the very last of its legs and billion razor sharp, red hot slivers of metal with an affinity for my most sensitive of regions. My joints are raw from crawling around on the concrete. I'm half deaf from the shriek of the spot weld cutter and the boom of the cold chisel and hammer.
