1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible Sunliner on 2040-cars
Fruitland, Idaho, United States
Up for auction is a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible Sunliner. This was a father son project that we took in on trade. I don't know much about it, but will describe it to the best of my ability. Do NOT Assume anything about this car. Please email any questions you have after reading the entire ad, and I will respond to the best of my knowledge. This is a Mid 50's convertible that runs and drives, it will be a great project car! The floor pans have been patched, it has had rockers and quarter panels put on it. The inner wheel houses are original. Body work is roughed in and needs finish work on the right rocker panel. All of the body panels need to be a little better aligned. we just rebuilt the master cylinder and we put 2 new wheel cylinders on the front. It runs but needs the carburetor rebuilt. The previous owner put a new fuel pump on it, but it needs the fuel tank cleaned. We have all of the parts in a pile and will in the next couple of days add pictures, but from what we can tell all of the parts are there. It has a 312 4 barrel with a rebuilder tag on it, I don't know how many miles ago that it was rebuilt, it seems to run good and does not smoke. The car will only start in the neutral position, the neutral safety switch needs to be adjusted. This car has no exhaust, there is 6 inches of pipe off each manifold. All of the top bows are there and in good shape, there is no canvas. The seats and back panels need to be reupholstered. The dash is complete. The bottom of the car is very clean, looks like someone has cleaned, painted and undercoated it. I will also add pictures of the bottom of the car. The jack and tire iron are still in the trunk. There is a $1000 Nonrefundable deposit due on this car within 24 of end of auction. Full payment must be received within 7 days of the end of auction. Car will not leave until funds have been cleared. This car is listed locally, so I reserve the right to end this listing at anytime. There is no reserve, if you serious about this car send us a offer, but don't waste our time or yours with low ball offers. We are not responsible for Transporting this car, buyer is responsible for all transportation costs. Buyer must have a feedback score of 10 or notify us prior to placing bid or we will cancel your bid.

Ford Transit production fires up, American Pickers among first takers
Wed, 30 Apr 2014Not long ago, the History Channel showed a seemingly unending stream of World War II documentaries, but it made a switch a few years ago to include an increasing mix of 'reality' programming. American Pickers was one of the early attempts at this new formula, with cameras following hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz around the country in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as they tracked down collectibles and "rusty gold" for their Iowa shop, Antique Archeology. The show has since gone on to become one of the channel's most popular programs.
Starting in the new episode airing tonight, the affable hosts will swap their Benz for a 2015 Ford Transit, a nicely timed bit of marketing to coincide with the launch of the model's assembly at the Blue Oval's Kansas City Assembly Plant, which also kicks off this week. Ford is touting 2,000 new jobs created as part of its $1.1-billion investment in the plant.
No strangers to product placement, the guys from American Pickers say their switch away from the Sprinter is because they wanted to balance cargo capacity and fuel economy to make the most of their cross-country jaunts. They opted for the largest Transit available with a long wheelbase, extended body and high roof, giving them 487 cubic feet of cargo room. Hauling power comes from a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque and a six-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. Fittingly, the van wears the same Antique Archaeology logo over white paint as their old Sprinter.

Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell revisit bitter F1 rivalry in... Ford Fusion campaign?
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Formula One World Champions Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell haven't been on good terms since the 1986 season, when Piquet joined Mansell at the Williams team and Piquet spent the year privately fuming about not being granted the status of number one driver. Things only got worse from there - even though Piquet won the title the following year with Williams, still partnered with Mansell, the fuming was a lot less private.
They're back together after a 25-year silence, in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil to drive the new Ford Fusion. Called "Fusion Grand Prix," both men get the new Ford sedan, prepped to their liking - but still street legal, we assume - for a race to decide... well, who is faster behind the wheel of a Fusion.
There will be four episodes, with the first two having already aired. The third episode comes on January 29 and the race happens February 5. You'll find two video episodes and a press release below, but note - because it's a campaign for Ford Brazil, Piquet's dialogue in the vids isn't translated, so hit the Closed Captioning button to hear his side of the smack talking.
