1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan Original on 2040-cars

Uniontown, Ohio, United States

Hello, and Thanks for Looking at my auction. Up for bid is an Original 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan purchased at Market Motors, 850 E Market Street Akron Ohio in 1956 by my grandfather. This was the only new car he ever purchased and was treated as such. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Akron and this car was only driven on sunny summer Sundays. The car has never been driven in the snow. My grandfather was an oiler/mechanic at Goodyear Plant 2. While he worked there, they developed the rust deterrent Cosmoline and it has been liberally applied to the inner fenders and potential rust areas of the car. I believe this is the major reason this car has survived the test of time. The right front fender of the car was wrecked and repaired in 1963 by the dealership. The car has 44,628 original miles. The paint, engine, transmission, interior have never been replaced, removed, or redone. This car is as it was when I was a boy and we would visit my grandparents. My grandfather died in 1989 and the car was purchased from my grandmother by my father.

My father had the bumpers re-chromed in 1990 and added show quality bias ply white wall tires. My father registered the car with the Crown Victoria Association in 1991. My mother and father began to show the car at many fairs, cruise-ins, festivals and car shows. And they won. Not always first place but people liked the aspect of an every man car in the show. A no frills working mans car taken care of and enjoyed by folks whose parents had one just like it. The car even won a silver cup at the Prestigious Father's Day car show at Stan Hewett, the home of Goodyear founder F.A. Seiberling. The car was even featured at a vintage automobile show inside Summit Mall in Fairlawn Ohio. My mother and father enjoyed and showed the car until 2004 when they began to travel. That is when I inherited the car.

My wife and I have done many shows with the car and won our fair share of trophies and dash plaques. We have had many great conversations with many people with many comments on the outstanding condition that this survivor is in. We have always garaged the car at our home. The Fairlane is still in show quality condition. We have always been proud to show off just how well the car has been taken car of over the years. We have enjoyed the 10 years we have owned the Fairlane. The time is now for this classic automobile to go to another family that would enjoy it as much as mine.

The VIN or Serial number of the car is M6FT253630 which means Engine code M V-8 292. Production year 1956. Assembly Plant F. Dearborn Michigan. Body Type Fairlane Tudor 4 door Sedan. Production sequence 253630. Body type 73C Fairlane Town Sedan. Paint color is Bermuda Blue. Unlike many Fairlanes this vehicle is NOT two toned. Interior Trim light blue and medium blue cloth. Production code 253630. On the upper part of the VIN plate it reads "Body 73C Color C Trim H Production Code 30C440" Look at the pictures to verify this information. I have included pictures of the factory paint stamp for each door.

The only known problem with this car is the master cylinder has a very slow leak between the firewall and the top of the brake pedal. The drivers side carpet is understandably soiled and needs cleaned or replaced. When fully charged the brakes will last a month for shows, the leak is that slow. The vehicle has the very small scratches and dings that are normally acquired over the years. The picture package I am including in this listing is very large -75 photos- that were just taken this past Thursday May 8, 2014. We have tried to be very honest with the details of the this special vehicle. Please look at all the pictures.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Included with the sale, I have a binder that has the original bill of sale from 1956, the service policy, even the owners manual. I also have each registration card from 1956 until the car was registered historic in 1984. It also comes with a cloth cover for storage.

Payment for this auction will be in either cash, wire transfer or cashier check (upon which title will be transferred when funds are verified). My wife is an Officer of FirstMerit Bank, Akron Ohio, we can make the transfer very easy.

Thank you for taking an interest in the future of this car. Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns at 330-703-9755. We can schedule a time that you can come and see the car for yourself.

Thanks Again, David

Ford shares falling on news of lower-than-expected profits next year

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Ford has released projections for its 2013 profits, along with predictions of its 2014 earnings, and the news has forced the company's stock to stumble, falling over seven percent as of this writing. The Blue Oval is expecting earnings of $8.34 billion for 2013, although the bulk of that is coming largely from its North American operations, as troubles abroad continue to take a toll.
Calling 2013 an "outstanding" year, Ford expects its revenue to be up about 10 percent, thanks to gains in market share everywhere but Europe. But it's 2014 predictions that are causing stock prices to fall, as the Dearborn-based manufacturer expects pre-tax profits to fall to $7 to $8 billion, because of troubles in both Europe and South America, according to a report from Reuters. This is despite an expansion plan that will see it open an additional factory in the southern hemisphere, as well as two plants in China, all in a bid to launch 23 new or refreshed products next year.
The issues in South America aren't so much related to a fall in sales - Ford expects improved profits in Brazil and Argentina - but because of currency devaluations in Venezuela that are projected to cost it around $350 million. While that would still allow it to break even with 2013, Ford cites continued economic risks that could push losses even higher.

NHTSA advances investigation of Ford Crown Victoria headlights

Sat, Aug 15 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into reports of suddenly failing headlights on 517,945 examples of the 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis. The government started looking into this problem in April when the North Carolina Consumers Council filed a defect petition with the agency. Now, the inquiry has moved to the next step. According to NHTSA's documentation (as a PDF), it examined its own database and worked with Ford to come up with a total of 3,609 complaints of the front lighting control module suddenly failing. When this happens, drivers lose the low-beam headlights, but the high-beams can be used by holding the stalk. Sometimes turning the switch off and on fixes the issue. Additionally, there are 15 allegations of crashes, and one reported shoulder injury. NHTSA's preliminary evaluations "evaluate the scope, frequency, and consequence of the alleged defect" and don't necessarily lead to a recall. NHTSA looked into this problem once before in 2008 and 2009 and decided that a recall wasn't necessary. Ford also extended the warranty on the front lighting control module for these vehicles. INVESTIGATION Subject : Loss of headlights Date Investigation Opened: AUG 10, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: PE15028 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) FORD CROWN VICTORIA 2003-2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2003-2005 Details Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: After receiving a defect petition (DP15002) concerning the loss of headlights and other exterior lighting in model year (MY) 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) analyzed Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) complaints received from consumers and identified a total of 605 reports (for all submission dates) alleging headlight failure. The complaints indicate failures of both low beam headlights typically while driving, a defect condition that was evaluated under a prior ODI investigation (PE08066). Most consumer VOQs indicate that the headlights failed suddenly and without warning leaving the driver with no forward lighting, however some report the headlights flickered or dimmed prior to turning off. In some cases drivers were able to turn the headlights back on after a period of time while others reported the headlights would not come back on at all.

Ford brings FPV Falcon production in house [w/video]

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

For the first time since 1976, Ford of Australia is bringing the assembly of its stonking Ford Performance Vehicle line back in-house to the company's Broadmeadows and Geelong facilities. That's a point of pride for FPV, which builds high-performance versions of the Australian Falcon model like the F6, GS and the heroic GT seen here.
In the video below, we hear FPV employees talking in hushed tones about the important legacy that cars like the GT have for Australian gearheads of all stripes, and how proud they are to say that hand-built machines like this GT R-Spec with its Boss 355 engine are now rolling out of their home base. For our part, we're just dying to drive this version of the Coyote V8; the engine is rocking a "Miami" supercharger from Harrop and makes some 450 horsepower.
Continue on below for the video, or you can check out some images of the new FPV at the facility, as well as a gallery of the GT R-Spec car.
