1995 FORD F-350 ( F350 ) DUALLY DUAL REAR WHEEL 7.3 POWERSTROKE DIESEL CREW CAB PICKUP. TRUCK IS NEAR MINT. IT HAS SUPER LOW MILES 44,864.4. CLEAN CARFAX AND AUTOCHECK. TRUCK IS VIRTUALLY SPOTLESS. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND REALLY DON'T WANT TO SELL IT. I JUST DON'T NEED A DUALLY ANYMORE. TRUCK HAS NEW FRONT BRAKE PADS AND TURNED ROTORS. IT HAS A CUSTOM GOOSENECK HITCH AND STANDARD HITCH. EVERYTHING WORKS ON THIS TRUCK. POWER WINDOWS, POWER LOCKS, CRUISE, ETC... THE TRUCK IS ALMOST ALL ORIGINAL. THE ONLY THING THAT IS NOT ORIGINAL IS THE RADIO ( WHICH I HAVE THE ORIGINAL CASSETTE PLAYER BUT I DON'T THINK IT WORKS ) AND I ADDED A KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM TO THE TRUCK. THE AIR CLEANER PLASTIC BOLTS ARE STILL INTACT AND NOT STRIPPED. MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE TRUCK STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. THE AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS ICE COLD. IT IS STILL THE ORIGINAL FREON ( OLD STYLE R12 ). THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE THINGS WORTH MENTIONING. THE ROOF OF THE TRUCK HAS ONE SMALL SURFACE RUST SPOT AND SOME CLEAR COAT IS PEELING. THERE ARE 2 HOLES IN THE HEADLINER BETWEEN THE SUNVISORS WHERE A CB RADIO WAS MOUNTED. THAT IS ALL I CAN REALLY THINK OF. THE PAINT SHINES ALMOST LIKE NEW BUT THERE ARE A COUPLE OF CHIPS OUT OF THE PAINT BUT NOTHING TOO NOTICEABLE. I AM BEING EXTREMELY CRITICAL AS I WANT TO BE AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE. THERE ARE NO DISAPPOINTMENTS WITH THIS TRUCK. IT IS RARE TO FIND TRUCKS LIKE THESE WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE AND IN THE FANTASTIC CONDITION THAT THIS ONE IS IN. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER AND OWNERS MANUALS. TRUCK HAS 6 BRAND NEW TIRES ON IT. THE TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 2800 MILES ON THEM. TRUCK IS BEING SOLD AS IS AS FOUND WITH NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED AND NO RETURNS. Chevy Silverado frame twist test a marketing victory versus Ford
Thu, 16 Oct 2014The pickup market is so competitive that all three major American makers are constantly trying to find a way to prove their product is the best. The new 2015 Ford F-150 is grabbing headlines at the moment by winning awards and posting segment best numbers. But in a new video, Chevrolet is taking aim squarely at the 2015 F-250 Super Duty in a battle of heavy-duty truck supremacy against the 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD... well, in a single metric anyway.
The big numbers from pickups often come down to payload, towing rating and fuel economy, but for this test, Chevy and Howie Long are challenging the torsional rigidity of the trucks' frames, specifically which one flexes less. Long plays the everyman here having the Chevy engineer explain what's going on in the tests. Unsurprisingly for a video on Chevy's official YouTube page, the 2500HD wins out by a good margin. The company also reports that similar results as shown here have been certified in third-party testing.
Check out the video to see the full test. While this might seem like a marketing win for Chevy, Ford isn't immune to it, either. In 2009, the Blue Oval uploaded a similar video comparing the flex under 225 pounds of weight from the bare frames of the F-150, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram (as it was still called at the time) and the Toyota Tundra. The results fell in the Blue Oval's favor, as you can see here.
Project Ugly Horse: Part VII
Fri, 12 Apr 2013Devils, Details and Weight Reduction
There are many things I could call this exercise. A party is not one of them.
I've spent three days crammed in the axle well of this 1989 Mustang with nothing to keep me company beyond a trouble light, a DeWalt drill on the very last of its legs and billion razor sharp, red hot slivers of metal with an affinity for my most sensitive of regions. My joints are raw from crawling around on the concrete. I'm half deaf from the shriek of the spot weld cutter and the boom of the cold chisel and hammer.
1969 Ford Talladega GPT Special is a SEMA showstopper
Thu, 07 Nov 2013Rad Rides by Troy has unleashed upon the SEMA crowds this custom 1969 Ford Torino Talladega GT Special, and it's a beauty. The car calls to mind the classic Holman Moody stock cars that circled NASCAR tracks in the late 1960's, driven by the likes of Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney and David Pearson, who won the Grand National title in both 1968 and '69 in a Ford Torino.
Even though it has plenty of stock-car influence, there's nothing retro about the car's design or powertrain, other than the fact that the engine is based on a Ford Boss 429 block. Fuel injection, aftermarket aluminum heads and a high-tech custom computer system combine to send 750 reliable ponies to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Brakes measure 14-inches all around, with six-piston Wilwood calipers up front and four-piston units out back.
There's custom bodywork abound, painted in a two-tone Tennessee Whiskey Gold and Daytona Sand finish. Check out all the amazing details in the image gallery below, and scroll down to read all about it in designer Troy Trepanier's own words.
