1989 F350 4x4 Diesel 4door 1 Ton Long Box Great Truck on 2040-cars
McCook, Nebraska, United States
We have decied to sell the family car. It has been used by my wife as our car and her and girls have drove this truck everywhere in the country to barrel races and horse shows it has been very good to us. It is a 1989 F350 7.3 diesel 5sp manual. 4x4 Crew cab With TONS of room. She has hauled our horse trailer every where and beilve me if it sounded wrong it was in the shop getting taken care of. That said It has the following; NEW tranny, clutch, flywheel transfer case, tires, brakes, front end, front hubs, lock outs, starter. Im sure Im missing sumthng. The motor has headers on it and Im thinkn has maybe been turned up sum point in its life it pulls better then my truck wich was a 1991 built the same way and also for sale on here. The inside has as much room as a apartment I swear Im 6'7 and can sit in the back very comfy I know this cause with it bein the wifes truck and two teenage girls I get to sit back there!! Everything on it works ac cruise has a fancy cd player of sum sort. Like I said the Girls have kept it there way. I knw nothing that it needs except A new home. I have got a 4door for me and wife has got a denali since we have had another baby or it wouldnt be for sale. In fact I wanted to keep it for my truck but she did not want it checking cows or bein drove thru pastures. At least by me I guess. The red paint is a lil faded and the gray clear coat has mostly came off (probly due to the blue beaking wash bills I get evertime the go somwhere!!) It still looks awsome as far as Im concerned If you want a Go anywhere kind of older truck for a 20th of a new 1 here it is! any ?s please ask If I dnt knw she will. Ps The tank doesnt go with it. She made me put tht in there so I cld fill it up and she wouldnt have to worry about finding fuel on the road. I may be willing to sell for $1000 if you want it.

Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns
Wed, 22 May 2013Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.
Ford UK exec says EVs are a good way to lose a fortune
Wed, Mar 19 2014Stateside, Ford execs are quick to point out the automaker's expansion in the plug-in sector. And despite a minimal presence in the pure EV space, the Blue Oval has been promoting its plug-in vehicles as part of an overall effort to boost fleetwide fuel economy. Too bad the company's UK chief didn't get the memo. There's "no point in us getting behind [EVs] and losing a fortune" - Ford's Mark Ovenden Mark Ovenden, speaking rather frankly at the Geneva Motor Show recently, said he didn't have real high hopes for substantial electric-vehicle adoption and said the company's money was better spent on smaller gas- and diesel-powered engines, the UK's Daily Mail says. Ovenden said of EV development that there was "no point in us getting behind it and losing a fortune," adding that his goal was to have variants of Ford's EcoBoost engine in 40 percent of the company's vehicles. Ford has about a 15-percent market share in the UK. The UK doesn't appear to be as kind to the EV as the US. Nissan last year cut the price of its all-electric Leaf there last year by about $4,000, while the company rolled out a promotion for the Leaf late last year, including allowing Leaf drivers to borrow a gas- or diesel-powered Nissan for free for as long as two weeks a year during the first three years of Leaf ownership. In the US, Ford sold just 229 Ford Focus Electrics during the first two months of the year after moving 1,738 units in 2013.
Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
