1974 CALIFORNIA FORD F350 RANGER XLT 1 TON SUPER CAMPER SPECIAL
NO RESERVE AUCTION
This pickup truck was built and sold new in San Jose California in 1974. Stayed with the original owners for the first 59,000 miles just outside of San Jose in Hollister California, they used it for pulling the horse trailer to shows and camping. In early 2010 I bought the truck from the original owners and removed the very large 70s vintage wood framed camper that was still in the bed and brought the truck to Sacramento California and it has been my daily driver until about three months ago. It comes with the original owners manual, two original Ford sales brochures, frame mount camper hold down bars, original radiator top and bottom tanks with both side straps and radiator core dimensions, original Ford full length floor mat that has always covered the carpet (I will figure out how to add pictures of all of this but I seem to be maxed out at 24 pictures at this time) and all the receipts for the last 30,000 miles that I have had the pleasure of driving this great old machine around town.
It is in original condition other than the parts I have changed to keep her going smoothly. I have reinstalled the original super camper tires and wheels that came with the truck, they are in good usable condition with heavy tread. Some checking of the side walls on the front tires only, the back tires look great. The parts replaced over the last three years are: New starter solenoid, relay switch, radiator, brake booster, Holley 600 carb., fan belts, heater and cooling hoses, thermostat, water pump, idler pulley (had pulley rebuilt as it is unavailable new), distributor cap - rotor - wires, air filter, pcv valve, coil, ignition module, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel gauge sending unit, heater core, transmission resealed and tested, diff oil and seals, front and rear brakes with new rotors in front turned drums in back, front and back wheel bearings, motor oil and filters.

The truck has a clear California title in my name and will come with the California plates 74 F350
The dash pad and door panels are very good with no cracks. The cigarette lighter and ash tray look new never used, both the original owners nor I smoke. The radio has been used so little the knobs are still snug and smooth. The body
is in great shape with some minor dents, dings and scratches, the bed is solid
with minor surface rust where the original camper sat in the bed. The wind shield has some rock chips. The paint has some scratches and is fading after some years of California sunshine and the seat has a tear on the drivers side. The air conditioner is complete and original but the clutch squeals and probably needs a new compressor. I have the wire unplugged at the compressor so it can not be powered up by accident. Starts and runs strong. Stone cold the big 460 needs two pumps on the peddle and is running, warm just hit the starter and shes always ready to go.
The truck has the following:
-Factory High Performance 460 V8 / C6 trany / 3.73 Dana 70 Lim. Slip diff. -Correct replacement Holley 600 Carburetor -Factory Edelbrock aluminum high rise intake manifold -Sliding rear window - Power Steering - Power disc brakes -9.5 front and 12.0 rear x16.5 Black Sidewall Tires - Spare Tire & Wheel compartment - Air Conditioner - AM Radio - Western style trailer mirrors - Tinted Glass - Auxiliary Engine oil and Transmission Super Cooling package - Dual Fuel Tanks - Stabilizer Bars front and rear - Painted Pull out Rear Step Bumper - Ranger XLT Package -Original California exhaust emission information window sticker -Original Engine Build and information stickers on both valve covers
This is a 40 year old truck that has always been owned and driven by adults. It is in very solid original condition other than the new fangled aluminum radiator.
On May-31-14 at 16:54:33 PDT, seller added the following information: Finally had a chance to add the picture of the owners manual, two original Ford sales brochures, three parts catalogs for older Ford trucks and all of the receipts for the last three years (actually found some work I had forgotten about). Please see the last picture for the paperwork that will be included along with the original radiator parts and the camper hold down bars. |

Kawei K1 pickup blatantly copies Ford F-150
Thu, Apr 24 2014The Chinese auto industry used to be looked at as a joke full of products blatantly copied from foreign vehicles. However, companies like Qoros and others show that the country's automakers have taken big steps in terms of original design. It doesn't look like every automaker there is ready to put down the tracing paper yet, though. Case in point: The Kawei K1 pickup pictured above, which is an obvious rip-off of the Ford F-150. In fact, the company isn't even hiding it. Kawei deserves a little credit for its openness. In describing the new model, it says: "No matter the black net grille and the outline of the headlamp, even if the styles of fog lamp and engine cover, it looks the same as Ford Raptor." It also admits that spelling out the model name on the hood is inspired by Land Rover. It's available with either a 2.4-liter, gasoline-fueled four-cylinder producing 141 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque (elsewhere it also lists it as having 162 lb-ft) or a 3.2-liter six-cylinder diesel with 106 hp and 181 lb-ft. Regardless of engine, power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The trucks cost around 100,000 Yuan ($16,033). So at least the K1 is a reasonably priced knockoff. According to Car News China, the K1 is actually selling in small numbers. The company made 10,000 of them last year and even exported some to Africa and the Middle East. Kawei's factory is doubling in capacity this year to build even more. You can read more about the truck on the company's website in some very mangled English. 2013 Shelby 1000 unleashes its 1,200 horsepower ahead of NY show reveal
Fri, 22 Mar 2013True story: Last fall, I had the opportunity to spend a week with Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500 - the Blue Oval's factory Mustang with 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. It's an amazing beast, to be sure. I'm not sure if it was Michigan's damp streets strewn with potholes and wet leaves, but at no point did I ever say to myself, "You know, Ford is on to a really good thing here, but what it really needs is about twice the power." And yet, for people in warmer climes with infrastructure in better nick - or for those whose muscle cars live their lives out on the track, there's apparently sufficient demand to warrant just such a beast.
Quick studies will recall that Shelby American launched its 1000 last year to commemorate its 50th anniversary, but it is returning to the New York Auto Show with a fresh version based on the 2013 GT500 I drove. The 2013 Shelby 1000 whips up 1,200 horsepower on pump gas thanks to beefed-up forced induction, engine internals and cooling. Wisely, it also incorporates an adjustable suspension and big brake package to make sure those ponies have the best chance being safely deployed to the ground.
What price the world's most powerful "production" muscle car? $154,995 for starters - donor GT500 not included. What, no convertible variant?
Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?
Sat, Sep 23 2017If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below.
