1997 Ford F-250 extended cab 4x4 with the durable 7.3 Powerstroke diesel, therare 5 speed manual transmission, 81000 actual miles, last of the old bodystyle! No matter where I go in this truck, it's the topic of surrounded by folks! Little history on the truck. I purchased this truckfrom an older couple living in Idaho (original owners) that purchased this trucknew ( traded in a1955 Ford pickup for this truck in 1997 with intentions of itbeing their last vehicle, but she became ill , and they bought a class C motorhome to transport her back and forth to Salt Lake City Utah for treatment). Ipurchased this truck from them with approximately 30000 miles. I have owned itfor 8 or 9 years. Installed 2 new batteries, replaced cutch and dual massflywheel, with solid flywheel.Which after changing dual mass flywheel, I reallydidn't like the resonance vibration noise, so I purshased a brand new OEMdual mass flywheel (still in box) ( I believe the last one in the country).Other than routine oil changes (Rotella 15W40), antifreeze additive, fuelfilters, and tires, this has been one of the best trucks I have ever owned! Ihope I don't regret the sale of this truck!! This truck is very cleaninside and out with power windows and locks, cruise, tilt, original AM/FMcassette radio, sliding rear window, factory tinted windows, power drivers seatwith power lumbar on both seats, A/C blows cold (freeze you out). This truckbody is rust free, paint shines like a new one! No cracks in dash, upholstery islike new! Original auto locking hubs, original wheels, no tuners or exhaust (hasfactory exhaust) !! Spray in Line-X bed liner. There is a small crease in therear bumper, refer to the pictures. No rust under doors as seen in photos. Thisis a very nice truck for a 20 year old truck!

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
2014 Ford Mustang GT
Fri, 17 May 2013I was more than a year removed from my last experience with the Mustang GT and its delicious 5.0 V8 when this new 2014 example rolled up to my driveway recently. Good weather and a planned road trip across the state meant that I would get plenty of seat time in this conservatively specified example, too. In total, I logged about 400 miles in a week of driving - not a lot for some of you super commuters out there, but quite a lot for this work-from-home journalist.
The basic formula of the 5.0 has stayed the same for 2014. The 2013 model year saw a number of updates to keep the Mustang fresh until it's replaced with an all-new generation for 2015. So, for its bon voyage tour, the fifth-generation Pony Car has seen only a few modifications: a couple of new paint colors (Oxford White and Ruby Read Metallic), trim and wheel revisions and, sadly, the deletion of the Boss 302 from the Ford lineup. However, while the limited-edition Boss is likely to reappear sometime after the gen-six Mustang makes its debut in 2015, the GT Track Package cars like the one I tested provide at least a partial solution for those looking for hot laps.

Ex-GM VP LaNeve takes over Lincoln ad agency
Wed, 10 Apr 2013Those of you that caught yesterday's op-ed about Lincoln will have heard already, but Mark LaNeve has taken the helm at Team Detroit. Once the North American vice president of sales, service and marketing for General Motors, LaNeve will now head up the agency that handles all of Ford advertising. LaNeve will also run the account for Lincoln. While at GM from 2001 to 2009, the exec oversaw ad campaigns like Cadillac's Breakthrough and sales initiatives like "Employee Pricing for Everyone."
He left in 2009 to join Allstate as chief marketing officer, oversaw the creation of the Mayhem ad spots and was moved into the role of VP of agency operations overseeing Allstate's 10,000 agents. He resigned from the insurer in February 2012 for personal reasons and joined Team Detroit in August 2012 as chief operating officer, in charge of satellite offices in New York and internationally. He replaces ex-CEO Cameron McNaughton, and will continue to hold the title of COO.
Lincoln is trying to get its 2013 back to rights after putting big dollar commercials for the 2013 MKZ on television then having production glitches preventing cars from getting to dealerships. With rumors of a relaunch in the works, it's no surprise LaNeve has been given the reins - and from here it looks like the brand is desperate for the kind of magic he's proved he can marshal. Perhaps he can start by calling a mulligan on the renaming exercise that gave us the hoary "Lincoln Motor Company" and go back to oh, say, "Lincoln." Then he can ask the product folks to get to work on the MKC concept...
