1993 Ford F250 Xlt Extended Cab 8 Ft Bed Pick Up Truck - 2 Owners 5.7l Engine on 2040-cars
Port Jefferson Station, New York, United States
This auction is for a 1993 Ford F250 heavy duty pick up truck that we have owned for about 4 years after purchasing it from the original owner. They were selling it due to the fact that they were elderly and after damaging the front fender on a guard rail, decided it was too big for them to handle and we were the lucky ones to buy it. Infact, the next owner will receive the picture of the original owner that we keep on the sunvisor. We keep it there to keep him in our thoughts since he sold us such a great truck which we are thankful for. Over the years, the truck has been ultra reliable for us and has done everything we asked it to do which was mainly to haul our 30ft and 36ft travel trailers and to make trips out of state to pick up cars. We do not think twice or hesitate to drive it anywhere. Why are we selling it? We have sold our house and are moving to Florida and are only taking two of our 5 cars and selling the other three. We have already sold our campers and do not need the truck anymore. The truck has only 131,XXX miles on it which is a low 6K per year and has another 100,000 left in it. The engine is the 5.7 liter 460 and will pull just about everything. It runs well for us but is due for a tune up. One side of the exhaust has a leak, but the other side has a new gasket. The A/C compressor was removed, but all of the lines are there if the new owner wanted to put a compressor back in. It starts every time and runs all day. The body is decent with the exception of the crinkled front fender and surrounding area that you can see in the pictures. The bed is a full size 8ft unit and is equipped with a 5th wheel hitch which is removable when not needed. The cab is an extended cab and can fit 3 adults or 4 children in the back seat, or it can be folded down to store your gear. The front seats are bucket seats which is much more comfortable than the standard bench seat. The upholstery is very good for the year of the truck. The radio works intermittently and comes on sometimes and is always guaranteed to shut off during a good song or during a funny part of Car Talk on NPR. The tires are ok but one rear on has some cracking in the sidewall. Overall, this is just a good honest truck that has faithfully served us well over the years and one that we would never be selling if we weren't moving to Florida. It is not perfect by any means, but it will serve the new owner well for years to come. We highly recommend any potential buyer to come over and look at it in person PRIOR TO BIDDING or send an auto inspection service to give a report. Local bidders are encouraged to bring their mechanic to inspect it, again, prior to bidding. We love this truck and think very highly of it and want the new owners to feel the same. A $300 deposit is required immediately at the end of auction by paypal, and the balance is due within 7 days after the auction is done which is when we would like it picked up by then. Title is free and clear. |

Ford made three big mistakes in calculating MPG for 2013 C-Max Hybrid
Tue, Jun 17 2014It's been a rough time for the official fuel economy figures for the Ford C-Max Hybrid. When the car was released in 2012, Ford made a huge deal about how it would beat the Toyota Prius V, which was rated at 42 combined miles per gallon, 44 city and 40 highway. The Ford? 47 mpg across the board. How did Ford come to this place, where its Prius-beater turned into an also-ran? Well, after hearing customer complaints and issuing a software update in mid-2013, then discovering a real problem with the numbers last fall and then making a big announcement last week that the fuel economy ratings of six different 2013 and 2014 model year vehicles would need to be lowered, the C-Max Hybrid has ended up at 40 combined, 42 city and 37 highway. In other words, the Prius trumps it, as daily drivers of those two vehicles have known for a long time. The changes will not only affect the window sticker, but also the effect that the C-Max Hybrid (and the five other Ford vehicles that had their fuel economy figures lowered last week) have on Ford's compliance with greenhouse gas and CAFE rules for model year 2013 and 2014. How did Ford come to this place, where its Prius-beater turned into an also-ran? There are two technical answers to that question, which we've got below, as well as some context for how Ford's mistakes will play out in the bigger world of green vehicles. Let's start with Ford's second error, which is easy to do since we documented it in detail last year (the first, needing to do a software update, was also covered). The basic gist is that Ford used the general label rule (completely legally) to test the Fusion Hybrid and use those numbers to figure out how efficient the C-Max Hybrid is. That turned out to be a mistake, since the two vehicles are different enough that their numbers were not comparable, despite having the same engine, transmission and test weight, as the rules require. You can read more details here. Ford's Said Deep admitted that the TRLHP issue is completely separate from the general label error from last year. Now let's move on to last week's announcement. What's interesting is that the new recalculation of the MPG numbers – downward, of course – was caused by a completely separate issue, something called the Total Road Load Horsepower (TRLHP). Ford's Said Deep admitted to AutoblogGreen that the TRLHP issue had nothing to do with the general label error from last year.
Next-gen Ford Taurus spotted in China
Fri, Jan 2 2015We're getting our first look at the next-generation Ford Taurus thanks to some spy shooters in China. While the camouflage and angle of the photo keep changes to the body a secret, there's no hiding the massive hexagonal, chrome grille up front. It lends a look very similar to the Fusion. Beyond the eye-grabbing grille, the headlights are reshaped, but are still quite squinty. There's also a new lower air dam that runs the width of the front with LEDs at the top corners. The hexagonal grille fits the design of the Fusion well, but this single image makes it look a little too big and disproportionate for the fullsize Ford sedan. Maybe the integration works better from a different angle, though. The next-gen Taurus is rumored debut for the 2016 model year and reportedly rides on a stretched and widened version of the Fusion's platform. Ford's big goal for the new model is allegedly to shed as many pounds from the scales as possible. The sedan also may get a nine-speed automatic to boost fuel economy. The engine range is still a mystery, but EcoBoost options are practically a sure thing, possibly even making up the whole model lineup.
2013 Ford F-150 Limited
Mon, 28 Jan 2013The Ford F-150 received yet another new model for the 2013 model year, the Limited trim, bringing the ways you can order this country's most popular vehicle to a grand total of 10. There really is an F-150 to suit any need now, and the Limited variant slots in at the very top of the range, above the already pampering Platinum model.
While normally I would admit that I'm the least-appropriate person to test a pickup, the fact that this particular trim places a much higher premium on luxury than anything with a bed and Blue Oval badge before it means that I don't need the workman chops of a skilled tradesman to judge how well this truck meets its true aim.
