I am selling my 1993 F-250 HD truck. I am the second owner of this truck and I have driven it even before I bought it a few years ago. I have the original window sticker and it lists all the options. This truck is really heavy duty and I have the factory payload sheet included and the cargo weight it can hold is 3256 lbs so more than 1.5 tons. This truck was ordered with the one ton rear axle and suspension so it is just like an F-350. I have the Werner ladder rack installed and it can hold 1000 lbs. and it can be taken off and installed on any truck it is fully adjustable. I have an electric brake controller installed so you can tow a trailer with brakes and just recently installed a new heavy duty hitch. I just had the truck inspected and it needs nothing. I have in the last year installled new front brake calipers, hoses, and a new master cylinder. All the tires are in good condition and the 5.8 liter engine runs great. This truck has plenty of power and the air conditioning works great. The truck's doors have extra mounting holes becasue this truck had different types of mirrors in the past. The truck has a bedliner and a rubber bed mat. The tailgate is in poor condition but it does still work and the cables on it are ok. The paint on the truck is worn out and not good so I have purchased a gallon of imron paint in an off white color but never had time to repaint it so I will include the paint. The truck was originally green so the door jambs are still green and under the hood it is still green. The truck has dents and dings and it is a work truck so don't expect a show truck but the body is solid, no rust holes anywhere that I am aware of. The cab has a dent in the rear at the top by the cargo light but the light still works and the window does not leak. The rear window of the truck is tinted. The truck needs nothing just get in a drive anywhere. Good luck bidding. This vehicle is sold as-is and I do not offer a warranty. Thanks

Ford exec downplays idea of aluminum-intensive cars

Thu, Jan 15 2015

Ford certainly made waves when it rolled out the all-new 2015 F-150 made primarily out of aluminum. But while trimming weight off its vehicles is a top priority for the Detroit automaker, we shouldn't expect the lightweight metal to be used as widely on passenger cars as it has been on its new pickup. Speaking at the Automotive News World Congress on Wednesday, top Ford exec Joe Hinrichs said that using aluminum in passenger cars isn't as beneficial as it is in trucks – primarily because the weight savings isn't as dramatic, or as deeply needed. Though improved fuel economy is certainly one advantage of aluminum construction in a truck like the F-150, low prices at the pump have prompted Ford to highlight another advantage, and that's capability: With less weight on its own, a lighter-weight truck can carry and tow more than a heavier one, because it all comes down to combined weight ratings. Ford is expected to make the new F-Series Super Duty largely out of aluminum for the same reasons, and we wouldn't be surprised to see the next Expedition use the material as well. But while certain components in Ford passenger cars will be made of aluminum, we shouldn't expect entire chassis and bodywork assemblies to use the material as extensively as on the F-150, or on more upscale passenger cars from the likes of Audi or Jaguar. Dearborn is, however, investing in other lightweight materials. It has a joint venture with Dow Chemical to put carbon fiber into mass production, much as BMW has with its i3. The Blue Oval will use a combination of carbon and aluminum on its 2017 GT supercar, and it has stripped weight by removing amenities from the 2016 Mustang GT350R, but apparently neither is a method Ford can practically apply to its volume models. Long winter means most automakers won't curb summer shutdown

Sun, 18 May 2014

A lot more happened during this latest brutal winter than days of snow and Netflix binges. Automotive sales took a battering. After all, going out car shopping when it's eleventy-billion degrees below zero isn't a good time.
Because of this Old Man Winter-induced sales slump, inventories are abnormally high as we head into the summer car buying season. That's led some analysts to predict that automakers will be more inclined to idle factories this summer, in a bid to trim some of the built-up inventory. Traditionally, American manufacturers offer up a two-week break in the middle of summer, although the burgeoning sales of the past few years have seen this practice become less popular.
"We're likely not going to see an acceleration this year," Jeff Schuster, a senior vice president at LMC Automotive, told The Detroit News. "We'll see production increases in 'pockets' but I don't know if it will be as widespread as in recent years."
