73,000 Original miles !!
2 Owners !!

An original mileage truck with only 2-owners since new ! Very hard to find in this condition and a true-story garage find !

I purchased this truck from the original owner this year. He was 76 yrs. old and the truck was rarely driven any more. He was an old hot-rodder and had about 7 vehicles in his collection,and was down-sizing because of his age & health and had other vehicles he drove on a more regular basis.To tell you the truth,I think it was more his wife's urging,as she was getting sick of the insurance and maintenance/upkeep of all their vehicles. He had a '57 Chevy and a T-Bucket too,so the old truck he bought new lost out to the conversation they had. ( sound familiar ?)

I purchased it locally,off a Craigslist ad. I was 3rd caller in the hour and a half it was advertised for sale.I was the first to show up with cash in hand,and as I was test-driving it,2 more people called and made offers sight unseen.I paid full asking price for it,as other buyers were waiting in the wings. No,I'm not going to tell you how much I paid for it,but it wasn't a steal. The guy knew what he had for sale,and I was willing to pay full price for it.I've done some things to it,and cleaned it up a bit as well,but what you see for sale,is pretty much how I bought it. These trucks are gaining big-time in popularity and rarity and this is one you do not want to pass up ! It's better than most I have seen on Ebay to say the least.....

The truck has been garaged from new until just the last year or two,and it shows extremely well for its age.The paint is all original as it was sprayed down from the factory. It's never been hit or in an accident in it's entire life.It was bought new in California by the original owner and is a San Jose-built truck. He lived in California until 2009,when he moved here to Arizona,and it's been here since that time in his possession up until I purchased it. It has no rust other than some surface rust on the undercarriage components typical with 41 yr.old metal.It's never seen snow or been driven in the salt.His family had used it for camping and when the kids were little for taking vacations with. His wife drove it daily for about 10 years up until about 10 years ago.

The 390 engine and C-6 automatic transmission have never been out of the truck.All the original sheet-metal and trim is from 1972.Just about everything on this truck is original or added in the 1970's.When I bought it,it still had bias-ply tires on it from 1987 ! The tread was great,but they were dry and sidewalls were cracking. I replaced those already,but it goes to show you how little it's been driven and that's why I mention it.Please ask any questions you like,and below I will list the details everybody will want to know. Thanks for looking !

Decoded VIN # :
F25 = F-250
H=390CID 8-cylinder (201H.P./8:2:1/2-BBL)
R=San Jose Assembly Plant
N23516= May 1972 Build Date
131= 131 inch Long Wheelbase Base Truck
M2= Two=Tone Paint  M=Whimbleton White and 2=Royal Maroon
F253= Model F=250 4X2 with 8100GVW package
U= Body code: F100-350 Ranger XLT Black Vinyl $ Black Bodycloth
G= Transmission. C6 Automatic 3-Speed
38= Axle Dana #5250 Stock ratio is 3.73 OR 4.10 but this truck was special ordered with a 3.54 axle ratio as per the window sticker which I have included with the sale of this truck.
08100=Max. GVWR . (this truck has the highest rating of all F-250's)

As stated above,this truck was ordered with a 3.54 rear axle ratio. I also have the original window options sticker that comes with the sale of the truck.I also have the original OWNERCARD/Warranty card from Ford. Power disc brakes came with it and was also ordered with a 25 gallon aux.fuel tank. Power steering and Super-Cooling package ordered too.I have the original owners manual for the truck and Warranty card and bag from Ford. Hard to find items that add to the nostalgia really.

I have basically cleaned the truck up top to bottom and fixed things that needed fixing.It runs and drives extremely well and is stable and squeak/rattle free. Everything works including all the lights and gauges, The fuel gauge does read incorrectly,when it's full,it only goes to 3/4 tank on both tanks.When the gauge is on empty,it still has about 1/4 tank of fuel left in it.The truck gets a dead 10 miles per gallon and that's it.Uphill/downhill.....it doesn't matter.

The wheels are REAL  U.S.INDY wheels in the size 16.5"X8.25". They were installed in the 1970's and I re-polished all four just recently.In the photos,you will notice a wheel-lug missing on each wheel. That is where I took off from each wheel a locking lug-nut. After this many years,they were really worn and hard to get on and off with the key,so you will need to replace that item. I left it off to let the new buyer decide whether to put another locking-lug on or just another chrome lug-nut that matches the others. Not hard to find and very inexpensive. I also have the 5th matching U.S.Indy wheel that is the spare,but it was never polished and I left it the same as I found it. These wheels are very expensive now to replace and they look great on this truck ! Everybody compliments them ! They just look "right" on this truck.

The tires are brand new. I installed Firestone Transforce HT's all the way around. This is a tire sized to the wheels and the truck. They are a 50,000 mile Radial tire.They are load range E and a 10-ply. The size is 9.50 X 16.5".They make the truck ride real nice and handle better than the original Bias-ply tires any day. The tires alone I paid $900.00 for 3-weeks ago.

I also lowered the rear of the truck. It sat too high in the back,and I had a professional shop lower it by simply taking the Factory overload springs and the Factory Add-a-leaf out and re-install it back together. It worked perfectly and dropped the rear ride height to level to the front within a half-inch. The rear was lowered about 2 inches total. It now looks perfect and rides so much better. Yes,I kept the original leaf-springs for you and they are included in the sale of the truck too.Truck also has dual exhaust with the old-style California -look "Bell" tips. Aged just right. Sounds mellow as it has dual Glass-packs on it. Installed years ago and still has that old-school sound !  Everybody says it sounds great and I agree...........This is how trucks used to sound !

Has Factory Camper- Special mirrors and all the RANGER XLT trim and badges.The steering wheel is original as well as the interior including the carpet. In the pictures I took today,this is how the interior looks and I haven't even done the interior cleaning yet. I will have that done by the time the new owner picks it up.I mention it,because it still looks great. Only minor cleaning is needed. The body has a few dings and dents in it and the worst is on the passenger side toolbox-door. The original owners wife backed up to a post and put a dent in it. It still functions and could easily be fixed by any local body shop. I even have the hard to find original key for that toolbox ! The paint is all original and has never been retouched or repaired.Keep in mind this is 41yr old Enamel paint okay ? It's in great shape.

Overall,it runs and drives/stops excellent ! The original owner always had it maintained by a Ford dealer. The Factory add-on A/C blows cold and works just fine. The original dash has a Dashmat on it and is free from cracks.The seat has been re-upholstered once and even though it looks great,the foam is really blown out and the seat needs rebuilt. The original owner was very heavy (fat) and after 41 yrs.....well...she sits a little low. Plan on a seat re-foam when you buy it. It also could use shocks. They are old and still work surprisingly well,but shock technology has moved a long way since the 1970's.The original windshield is in it,and it has a crack in it. It will need replacement. They are about $59.00-$89.00 from any local glass shop.All the glass in this truck is from the Factory and original. That's why I left the windshield in it so you could see that. I also did not detail the engine bay/compartment on purpose.I left it as you see it in the pictures to give an accurate look and description of an original 41 yr old motor .It is clean but not detailed.Also,the inside of the doors HAD speakers in them,and they were taken out and it left holes in the doors. A replacement speaker installed in the same locations,would fill the holes and would be about the only place for aftermarket speakers anyway.The old tape player radio was junk,and it was also removed. There is no radio in the truck currently.The original owner also installed a late model electronic ignition and coil to get rid of the points and condenser. I have the original points and condenser in a box if you would like to have them.

Pictures were taken today. 10-10-2013. ( Date code on my camera is stuck on that date and has been for years.)

I've driven it over 1000 miles with no troubles. It has had a tune-up and the oil and filters are new too. Has a few small leaks that will need to be repaired. Nothing major.Fun old truck to drive and gets compliments everywhere it goes.Buy it to restore or to continue to fix up or make a hot-rod out of it. I left it this way on purpose because everybody likes that old "patina" now instead of a restoration.I have probably forgotten many items,so just call with your questions. I know the truck inside and out. My brother also has a restored 1969 Factory High-Boy,so I am pretty well-versed in these trucks.It's one of the best I've seen and driven. Usually these trucks are beat to death or fully restored. This one is neither. It's just a nice old,well-cared for truck. I'd love to keep it and continue driving it and fixing it up,but I bought it to sell it and make a profit.  Got questions ?? Feel free to ask. I will gladly speak to you about any questions or concerns you may have. I'm not a dealer,just a regular Joe like you. Email or call. I am in Prescott,Arizona. About an hour and a half north of Phoenix.

Next Ford F-150 delayed for aluminum body panel issues?

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

The timetable for next-generation Ford F-150 may be in trouble if a report from The Truth About Cars is true. The next F-150 is slated to make extensive use of weight-saving aluminum in its body, but the aluminum alloy provided by suppliers hasn't met Ford's requirements in the earliest phases of pre-production, according to the report.
The F-150 represents a huge portion of Ford's profits and is the best-selling truck in the US, even in the face of increased pressure from cross-town rivals General Motors and Ram. While the current truck is treading water against its competition, we'd be lying if we said the F-150 weren't growing quite long in the tooth.
If production of the next-generation of the Ford cash cow, said to be based on the Atlas Concept from the 2013 Detroit Auto Show (pictured above), is delayed, it could be bad for Ford. Production at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant is already set to be delayed six to ten weeks, missing an internal on-sale deadline of Memorial Day.

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.

Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.
