This Lightning is too nice for words to describe. This is a true collectors vehicle.
It was purchased by a collector in NH from a collector in TX. I have a copy of the Texas title and the TX inspection stickers I left on the windshield. (I Like them)
All bone stock. No lowered suspension shackles, no after market cold air air filter, no higher boost lower pulley not even a louder exhaust. All Original virgin truck.
You know all the basics, here are the extras from the factory. Original rubber bottom bed liner, original soft tonneau cover (looks like new) factory applied under coat which was done prior to final assembly of the front and rear fenders - a very rare option for the Lightning. The front bumper has never been drilled at the factory dimpled location sights for the front license plate. When I bought it in the summer of 2012 I had the clear stone guard front end protection film applied and I really like it. I intended to drive it so it was the best solution to protecting the paint from rocks etc and still look great. It can be removed.
There are no door dings, no bumper marks from touching other car bumpers, parking lot fences etc. The wheels are flawless with the original F1 tires and have never been off the truck. No marks on the wheels or lug nuts from wrench etc. Interior is perfect as it should be with 10K miles. My seats remain covered at all times unless parked at a Cruise Night for display. Non smoking environment as well. No food, soda or coffee are ever allowed in my truck! Much to my wife's dismay!
I have taken it on a 600 mile round trip to NJ and the rest of the time it is taken to a Cruise Night or a leisure scenic New England ride. Truck looks, runs and drives perfectly.
I hate to sell it, so here is my short reason for selling.
Two years ago I bought a 2001 Lightning with high mileage. It had the usual mods running about 400 hp. I loved it, but the underneath was rotted. It was obviously used in the New England winters with our salted roads. Too bad as it was otherwise a nice truck. Faced with a choice of extensive rust repairs to a 140K miles truck or replacing it, I chose to replace it. I was not looking for a perfect truck, just one not rusted out with maybe 50-90K miles would have been fine. I found this truck and was in love even though it was a few grand more than i was looking to spend, the newness of it was worth it. I bought it with intentions of doing the usual modifications to bring it up in the 400-420 HP range. I now feel as though the truck is too nice for me to start making modifications to. In addition, it is so nice that I am nervous driving it. So I will sell it and replace it with a higher mileage one with no rust and maybe already fitted with mods. Then I won't feel guilty about altering this perfect virgin and won't be nervous driving a high mileage truck. That being said, I will take your higher mileage Red or maybe white Lightning in trade. Any year second generation model, stock or mods OK. No uncared for trucks in trade.
Clear Mass. title in hand as I paid cash for it. You are welcomed to come here or send someone here to inspect the truck prior to bidding or even after you bought it. If it is not what I say, you can back out of the sale. This truck was always garaged and babied. It is currently stored for the winter in a heated facility with three, yes three fitted covers on it. When warm weather is here I keep it in my yard under cover. If I drive it as soon as I pull in the yard I pull the cover from the back of the truck and put the cover on before I do anything else. A bit anal perhaps, but I paid a lot for a very nice truck. I intend to keep it nice. Not taken out in rain or driven after first snow fall so it is never exposed to salt, not even dry dusty salt.
Payment in cash preferred. Certified bank check drawn on Bank of America or other bank with branch in Massachusetts. Checks must be cashed by me and cleared prior to truck leaving. If shipping, you must make the arrangements. I prefer to have you come here with cash, see it, drive it and pay for it so we are both happy with the deal. 978-632-7005 days.

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]
Wed, 28 Aug 2013When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.
Ford builds USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang for charity
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Each year since 2008, Ford has created a one-off Mustang to celebrate military aviation, and the cars have been auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Gathering of Eagles charity event to raise money to inspire the next generation of aviators. This year's charity car is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, which also helps celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds air show excellence.
Of all the EAA charity cars, this Thunderbirds Edition is the most in depth. Painted to match the F-16 Tomcat fighter jets used by Thunderbirds, this Mustang also gets a widebody kit and 22-inch Forgiato wheels to go with the cockpit's Recaro bucket seats, rear-seat delete and modified navigation screen and gauge cluster. Even the Mustang's projector puddle lights have been changed to show an aircraft silhouette - rather than the Mustang's galloping horse logo - when the doors are open.
Themes for previous EAA charity cars include the Blue Angels, SR-71 Blackbird and the Red Tails as well as the F-22 Raptor-inspired AV8R and AV-X10 "Dearborn Doll" models. Scroll down for the press release for the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, and be sure to check out our galleries for all six aviation-themed Mustangs.
J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.
