This is a Great Truck for a Total Restoration Project.

I purchased it 2 days ago from a Nice Southern Gentleman in Alabama who bought it to restore but has only kept it in his enclosed hobby garage and not touched it.
I brought it to Chattanooga and dropped it off with my old school ford mechanic. In 4 hours or less he has it running and almost ready for test driving. He replaced the fuel line and fuel pump in addition to adjusting the timing. I went down and spent a few mins today and he said he would be test driving it on Monday with instructions to do whatever is necessary to make it road worthy and safe.
The truck has dual exhaust with nice sounding glass packs (strange as everything else looks stock).

The body is very straight (better than any vehicle I have seen half this age without major restoration) and event he tail gate and bed is Great. It is obvious the was not a farm or work truck. All the glass is in good shape. The chrome bumpers look good, however with a new pain job, I would go for new chrome on the sides (custom cab)  as this truck deserves it. The headliner insert and the door panel inserts are good. It appears zero rust in the floor anywhere.  The instrument panel display looks great, however the dash pad has a  cracks in it. Every item needed to put this truck to a perfect 10 is now available online. The 1966 version is the 4th generation F series (of 10) and has the famed Twin-I Beam suspension.  One of my best friends in high school had the coolest 1966 (red also) F100 with a 352 three speed manual transmission and every since I have wanted one.

A major motivation in my buying the truck is that I have a later model 5.0 v8 with Automatic-overdirve Transmission that has been rebuilt that I intend to put in the right vehicle. Just as I was making the deal to go pick-up this truck a gentleman in east Tennesse agreed to sell me a 1959 Thunderbird (which desired more than the truck). My stipulation was that he had a title or current registration as that is necessary to register here in Hamilton county Tennessee.  The gentleman with the truck went and register it at my request, so I felt obligated to buy it. Now the Tbird is regiester so I can buy it.
Since I have an F250 4x4 the Thunderbird is my first choice.

I can hardly wait to get the truck home so I can clean it up and be able to show the quality I see here. That will happen next week weather permitting. I will update and add new pics or will sent them direct to serious bidders as requested.   I will consider selling the 5.0 and Auto Tranny  for $1500 more, but only as a package deal.

Please only bid if you are serious. If you have less than positive feedback of 10, Do Not Bid without speaking with me first.Don't bid unless you have the funds, and or permission from wife to buy. I will try to answer all serious questions promptly.
I will be listing the Truck for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time.

Thank You
Steve in Chattanooga

Ford, Chrysler and Mazda expand scope of Takata airbag recalls

Fri, Dec 5 2014

The scope of the Takata airbag inflator recall is ballooning once again across the United States. Where Honda has elected to take its driver-side airbag campaign nationwide, Chrysler Group and Ford have now announced expanded regional actions to cover some passenger-side airbag inflators. Mazda is adding more regions, as well. For Chrysler Group, the campaign covers the inflators on 149,150 examples of the 2003-model-year Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups. The recall is limited to vehicles sold or ever registered in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and the territories of American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, Saipan, and the Virgin Islands. The company will begin notifying affected customers on January 19. According to Chrysler's announcement of the action, the passenger side inflators in these trucks "are of a type that is not used in any of the other vehicles affected by Chrysler Group's regional field action." The automaker says that it's not aware of any actual failures or accidents in these pickups and even claims there are no "observed failures in laboratory testing of its airbag modules." The company is continuing to study the problem, though. Ford is taking a similar step by issuing a recall of inflators for 38,500 examples of the 2004-2005 Ranger and 2005-2006 Ford GT. The campaign only affects vehicles originally sold or ever registered in Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Certain zip codes of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Guam, Saipan and American Samoa are also covered. There's already precedent for passenger-side airbags to be covered under the Takata inflator recall. When many automakers announced campaigns in June, BMW, Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota all included that side in some of their repairs. Subaru subsequently did, as well. In addition, Mazda is expanding the scope of its recall to add Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Saipan, Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas to the affected areas. The company estimates that it has a total of 86,773 vehicles in need of repair. Mazda is also teaming with Toyota to begin independent testing of the Takata inflators. Scroll down to read all of the automakers' announcements of these newly expanded recalls. Statement: Air-Bag Inflators December 3, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich.

2016 Ford Explorer configurator reveals $30,700* base price, Platinum starts at $52,600*

Wed, Nov 26 2014

The a la carte menu for the 2016 Ford Explorer is ready for your... umm... exploring. The first page of the refreshed model's configurator reveals the lineup, including the new Platinum trim, and price increases for three of the carryover models. The base Explorer doesn't change by one red cent: it can still be had for $30,700. The XLT needs $33,400 (a $400 price bump), the Limited goes for $41,300 (a not insignificant $2,900 price increase), and the Sport requires $43,300 (a $200 increase). That new Platinum model goes where no Explorer MSRP has gone before, beginning at $52,600 (*all prices are subject to an $895 destination charge). However, since Ford has put almost everything in it, you can't jack the price up too much further unless you lose your mind in the accessories catalog. You can quickly head that way lower down the order, though. The Limited's price jump appears to be due to the voice-activated navigation system, which comes standard; it was formerly part of a $2,600 option package. The Limited goes up by just $995 when specced with the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost, which raises the power over the 2.0-liter EcoBoost it replaces to 270 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, but doesn't incur any fuel economy penalty. All-wheel drive tacks on another $2,000, safety features like active park assist and lane departure warning come as part of $3,000 Equipment Group A, and you'll still have another three pages of options to get through. On the other hand, if you just want to get your family bundle into an Explorer without spending a bundle, the base model doesn't offer any packages and only has one option over $200. Let the research begin.
