Rusty hood springs are preventing the hood from latching. Parts are missing from the engine. Wires are missing from the harness. Glass is all good!"

This old timer has a lot of issues if one was to consider it to be a revival project. It has been sitting for a long time and is pretty rusty. I do have an open title for it, but the last time it was tagged was in 1995.

I drove this truck 60 miles back to town to a garage back in 2000 when I bought it to have the engine rebuilt. Unfortunately the garage started taking it apart, and then went out of business over night and the landlord threw away the box of parts that were removed after they were kicked out. The picture under the hood shows the lack of parts. I then towed it to a place for storage where thieves raided all the wiring they could see under the hood. As I said... major project for refurbishing. It might be a good father/son project, but Dad would need to be a very savvy veteran with welding and engine experience. It would probably be better for the parts remaining.

One thing going for it is that all of the glass is good. The body is pretty straight except for a bent passengers side back fender (pictured). But it does have a lot of rust. The cab floor is pretty far gone. It was a Missouri Forestry Dpt. vehicle, and they added diamond plate steel to the bed. And they moved the gas line from behind the cab on the drivers side to the drivers side back fender. It says U-1 on the top for helicopters to see. There are a few holes in the top where a siren and beacon were once installed.

It has a three on the tree transmission.

It's rough, and it is what it is. Please bid knowing all of this, and plan on towing on a trailer or flatbed because all four tires are flat and too far gone to hold air more than 10 minutes or so.

I'm happy to try to answer questions, but in all honesty I never really got to know it well. I bought it, drove it to that garage, and never got a chance to drive it since. If you are interested in it in its existing condition, then I guarantee you that you probably know more about it than I do.

Last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible nets $500k for charity at Barrett-Jackson [w/video]

Tue, 13 Aug 2013

The last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible was sold on Saturday at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Reno, Nevada, for $500,000. Ford donated the Mustang to be auctioned for charity, and all of the money is going to the Brain Injury Association of America.
Parnelli Jones, winner of the 1963 Indianapolis 500, was there on behalf of the BIAA with his son Page, who suffered a brain injury in a sprint car crash in 1994. The bidding increased quickly, reaching $500k in no time, spreading a bit more hope to people who live with brain injuries.
The winning bidder will be able to choose the GT500's exterior, interior and stripe colors, and is scheduled to receive the car, signed by Parnelli Jones in appreciation for the donation, by the end of 2013. Watch the video below to see the auction-block action.

2015 Ford Mustang stars in bizarrely awesome '80s aerobics video

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

For reasons we can't comprehend, here's a music video starring the all-new, 2015 Ford Mustang and a number of dancers dressed and styled in the most stereotypically 1980s way possible. The dancers then take part in a male-versus-female dance off. Again, we've no idea why it exists.
It's weird, and for the second time in two weeks, we're sat at our computer wondering, "What are we watching?" That said, it does show the new Mustang from a number of angles, and it's one of the first car-related YouTube videos we've seen that's available in a 4K, ultra-high-def stream.
Take a look below, and let us know what you think in Comments.

Detroit's new fleet of donated police cars have safety issues [w/video]

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

In a show of generosity in mid-August, Detroit's business leaders donated $8 million to the Police Department and Fire Department in order to buy 100 new police vehicles and 23 EMS ambulances. But now officers have discovered - and complained - that the police vehicles have glaring safety issues, Deadline Detroit reports. It is not made clear what models of the fleet vehicles - which include police versions of the Ford Taurus, the Chevrolet Caprice and the Dodge Charger - are affected by the safety issues.
Officers reportedly have complained that the Plexiglass partition separating front-seat officers and back-seat prisoners is easily breached, and that the front passenger seat is installed too close to the dashboard. Prisoners who manage to writhe out of their handcuffs can bend the Plexiglass and reach into the cockpit, and sitting too close to the dashboard can render airbags more dangerous and make officers more vulnerable to injury in a crash.
Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, received the complaints and reportedly said the vehicles would get safety updates addressing the issues. But Deadline Detroit reports that it checked some of the offending police cars and, as of the last few days, they hadn't been updated.
