Ford F100 Ranger-rare Ca Black Plate/ca Truck-old School Hotrod on 2040-cars
Granite Bay, California, United States
1966 Ford F100 Ranger Club Cab-Rare Edition Ford Truck. Ranger Edition was factory bucket seats (mustang) and carpeting behind seats to cover gas tank. I acquired this truck as part trade on a 65 Mustang K Code Fastback I had. Brian (owner of Sacramento Mustang) was selling this for his Uncle & had it in his shop (Classic Motorsports), who was original owner. I took truck & cash on trade for Mustang. Per Brian, listed below is what was done to truck. I have not verified information, but have known Brian for many years & have no reason to believe he would not be telling the truth. I will provide name/phone number of his uncle to buying party. Engine: Originally 352 V8 now 390 V8 Built/Installed by All Teck Auto, Sacramento, CA. Less than 1800 miles since rebuild. Fully built/balanced 390 with Crane Cam, 650 Holley on rare 427 4V intake, 428 heads with case hardened valves. Intake & heads port machined/matched by Mothers Automotive, Sac. Oil passages in block expanded & extra capacity oil pump installed. Rare 427 Ford cast iron race factory stubby exhaust manifolds (selling on ebay in $800-1000 range) into dual exhausts. Extra capacity radiator with electric fan. Truck has AC but dryer needs replacing, & compressor clutch was making squealing noise so I removed belt for AC compressor. All components in place though. 9" Rear end with 3:22 gears 4 Spd/granny low trans broke down & checked/serviced. New Clutch, pressure plate, throwoutbearing. New steering box & front end rebuilt/aligned, goes down the road straight, no pulling. Power assist drum brakes rebuilt all around, stop great & straight. Body: Original black, repainted 20 years ago. One dent at passenger rear lower back quarter. One dent at drivers cowl/fender area where Ranger trim is. Other than that fairly straight, minor dings. Only rust I found is back of cab, drivers side where it looks like a CB antennae was probably originally installed. Only other rust is under cab on ends at supports for cab. No other rust found. Interior: Factory bucket seats in good condition. Carpeting in good condition. Needs windshield (cracked) & headliner (sagging). Headlights, brake lights, turn signals all functional. Wipers, heater controls, heater fan all functional. Tires in good shape. All in all drives down the road great, straight, stops good. No overheating. Lots of power, smooth running engine. Includes repair manuals, additional trim, Ranger emblems. Currently on "Non-Op" status with CA DMV On Jan-24-14 at 05:07:20 PST, seller added the following information: Here is a link for more information on the "Ranger" package for the 65/66 F100's http://www.michellesfords.com/RangerPage.html Truck does not leak any fluids. Tanner Foust gets eponymous hotted-up Ford Focus ST from Cobb Tuning
Thu, 14 Mar 2013Racer and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust has partnered up with Cobb Tuning to create a special-edition Ford Focus ST. The limited-edition hatches will come packing a reflashed ECU, special intercooler, tweaked intake and freer-flowing exhaust for up to 20 percent more power than the stock creation. Cobb says that the changes should push the final dyno figure to above 300 horsepower. Buyers can also expect to find special carbon fiber aerodynamic bits on board along with a new grille, graphics and wheels. Cobb hasn't released pricing on this Tanner Foust Edition Ford Focus ST as of yet, but you can bet the whole kit won't be cheap.
Fortunately, the company will sell you bits and pieces from the overall package for your Ford, and word has it engineers are also whipping up a Foust Fiesta ST. Look for Cobb's Focus ST website to go live next month, complete with accurate specs and pricing. Until then, enjoy clicking through the gallery here. Ford not backing down on MPG-based marketing strategy
Thu, Jun 26 2014The Blue Oval may have to back off a bit from the green messaging. Ford has had to lower fuel-economy ratings on a number of 2013 and 2014 model-year vehicles, namely its hybrids. And that may force the US automaker to rethink some of its marketing strategy, Automotive News reports. Ford has spent much of the year pushing its fuel-efficiency improvements, with everything from a Super Bowl ad saying its Fusion Hybrid gets "almost double" the fuel efficiency of an average vehicle (after the recalculation, it's now more like 75 percent better) to claiming the Fiesta is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid in the US (it's actually the Mitsubishi Mirage) to stating the C-Max Hybrid gets better fuel economy than the Toyota Prius V (it doesn't). Nonetheless, Ford doesn't plan on changing its mpg marketing emphasis anytime soon, the company said in an e-mailed statement to AutoblogGreen. "Providing customers great fuel economy is a key part of our Ford vehicle DNA." "Providing customers great fuel economy is a key part of our Ford vehicle DNA," the company said. "We will continue to highlight our vehicles features and attributes in our advertising and marketing, which includes fuel economy and fuel-saving technologies like EcoBoost and hybrids." Earlier this month, Ford said it would lower the fuel-economy ratings of models such as the C-Max, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ Hybrids as well as most of the Fiesta line because of mistakes in the company's internal testing data. It was the second change for the C-Max Hybrid. The good news for Ford is that its fleetwide fuel economy is up almost 40 percent from a decade ago, compared to an improvement of around 23 percent for Toyota. Still, while sales of Ford hybrids and plug-ins are about even with last year through the first five months of 2014, C-Max Hybrid sales have plunged 49 percent from a year earlier. Earlier this year, Ford admitted that the first fuel economy downgrade had a negative effect on sales and we can find proof in the numbers. Before that the change was announced, in August 2013, Ford was consistently selling over 2,000 – and sometimes over 3,000 – C-Max Hybrids a month. In September, it dropped to 1,424, then to 1,438 in October. It didn't climb back above 2,000 until May 2014. The second mpg adjustment was announced in June.
Lincoln 'not true luxury' yet, says Ford design chief
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Lincoln is "not true luxury," according to Ford's design boss, J Mays. His statements come from a story in The Detroit News that saw candid language on the issues facing Ford's troubled premium brand. Notably, there's a need for a strong character, with Mays saying, "Every brand needs to have a DNA and a unique selling point and things in the vehicle that make you think, 'That's that particular brand.'"
With a range of rebadged Fords, it's not hard to see why that DNA is missing. Mays hinted that a full recovery for Lincoln will be a ten-year process, that's been kicked off with the MKZ sedan. While that car is still largely a Ford Fusion under its extremely pretty wrapper, it's the first Lincoln in some time to inject its own unique take both through the exterior styling and through interior features, such as the vertical, pushbutton gear selection.
Some analysts weren't so certain about Mays' 10-year estimate. Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics thinks it'll be more like 30 years before Lincoln can show a true return to form. The issue, as Hall explains it, is that, "luxury has a degree of exclusivity," that Lincoln just doesn't have. Michelle Krebs from Edmunds adds, "it's definitely a wanna-be luxury brand," comparing the troubled American brand with Infiniti and Acura, two other brands that have struggled to find their place in the luxury market.
