1977 Ford F100 Custom Explorer 2wd 302 Auto Fact A/c 73k Orig Miles 1976 1978 79 on 2040-cars
Auburn, Maine, United States
Beautiful original 1977 F100 Custom Explorer with like new orig interior you have to see to believe!!! Also undercarriage is like off the lot in 1977 with only very end of dual exhaust pipes showing rust through due to chrome exhaust tips being on it when I got it that held moisture between them and pipes causing some rust through.Exterior has some issues with pinstriping on hood that needs redoing and some parking lot scratches here and there, but zero rust, rot,or sheet metal repair anywhere...this truck is solid as a rock. There is also a dent above rear passenger side tail-light that is the exteriors worst issue keeping it from receiving trophies at car shows.Truck has factory a/c that needs recharging and new belt, but did blow air before I took belt off so all power would transfer to motor and not needlessly turn a/c pulley.Truck also features orig AM/FM stereo, orig FORD hubcaps, and loud air horns mounted under hood run by compressor and air tank along with aux. air hose to inflate other things as needed(orig horn still operates as well). I also recently put on a new carb that still needs tuning, but starts, idles, and runs good, but under power does hesitate some at slow speed, but does come out of it as it increases in speed.Honestly,I'm horrible at adjusting carbs as well as setting timing so someone that can do that or send to a garage to do it right will have a great running truck!!! Currently the truck is running off a 22 gallon fuel cell mounted in bed of truck due to both orig gas tanks needing a thorough draining and cleaning or possible replacement due to possible rusting from inside out or just crappy old gas varnishing inside tanks(that's what messed up my orig carb). Also, drivers side inner door panel is a bit loose on bottom due to a few clips falling out so I'll try and get that fixed before new owner takes delivery of it,but new clips are easily obtained as well as most new parts for these old Fords through LMC Ford Parts.
Truck is advertised locally so if it's sold or traded locally the ad will be taken down promptly! If truck is won by auction on here, winner is solely responsible for all shipping charges or can be picked up locally.I can hold truck as long as needed as long as it's paid for in full and you explain situation before final winning bid!! |

2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium
Mon, 28 Oct 2013You might not be interested in owning a subcompact (B-segment) hatchback for $20,000. Let's be clear from the get go here: there are any number of reasonable arguments for staying away from the highest-content versions of these small cars. Ford's player in the B-segment arena is the newly updated 2014 Fiesta, and the Titanium trim represents the most luxurious instantiation of the model. We recently were loaned a Fiesta Titanium for a week, whose final sticker price hit $20,390, with navigation being the only standalone option added to the bottom line. By way of comparison, the most basic version of the all new, one-segment-up Mazda3 hatchback costs $19,740 with delivery and destination accounted for, and no options added on.
Hold on to that thought for a moment, we'll get back to it.
Ford hybrids getting update to improve fuel economy
Tue, 16 Jul 2013Ford has announced that it is introducing "calibration updates designed to improve on-road fuel economy for owners of the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid."
We can speculate that these changes are at least due in part to lawsuits over mileage claims of hybrid vehicles. The automaker is enhancing 2013 models starting in August by raising their electric cruising speed to 85 miles per hour from 62 mph, optimizing the use of active grille shutters and the climate control system, shortening the engine warm-up period by 50 percent and reducing electric fan speed to minimize the fan's energy consumption.
It bears mentioning that Ford is doing pretty well in the US electrified vehicle market this year. The company claims to have grown its share in the segment by 12 points to 16 percent while taking a high number of Toyota Prius trade-ins in the process. Conversely, Toyota has experienced a five-percent drop in new-Prius sales over the same period. Additionally, Ford states that it has increased its share of the US vehicle market by one percent this year, more than any full-line automaker.
How privacy fears are driving automakers in the age of the connected car [w/poll]
Wed, Aug 27 2014A recent GAO report concluded car companies don't adequately disclose how and why they share location data. As cars collect and store more and more data about the whereabouts of their drivers, automakers are responding to critics who say they should be more transparent about how those details are used. Ford is hiring a global privacy policy attorney to craft the company's customer privacy policies in the era of connected and autonomous cars. "In this emerging space, there is an important need to address customer privacy policies," reads a job description posted on the "people and careers" portion of the company's website. "As part of our compliance and ethics organization at Ford, this person will have an immediate and direct impact in shaping existing and future policy and corporate thinking in this area." Ford is creating the new position, based at its Dearborn headquarters, at a time technology advances are outpacing privacy protections. Earlier this year, a report from the federal government concluded car companies don't adequately disclose to motorists how and why they share location data. That report, from the Government Accountability Office, found many car companies did not describe how they shared location data, did not allow consumers to request their data be deleted and that there was a "wide variation" in how car companies retained vehicle-specific or identifiable location data. It noted there is increased risk of location data being used in ways "consumers did not intend." Ford was one of 10 companies the GAO surveyed while compiling its report. Customers are opting to share that data largely by using features like maps and turn-by-turn direction that are run by a vehicle's telematics unit. Depending on the company, it can be unclear how that data is collected, retained or shared. At the time the GAO report was issued, AAA, the nation's largest motoring club, urged carmakers to be more transparent in how they handle data and to offer stronger security protections. Shaping Autonomous Car Regulations At Ford, the new hire could change how the company handles that data. According to the job description, the successful applicant will, "demonstrate visionary thinking around privacy strategy – imagine how consumer and employee expectations around privacy may evolve and how business should adapt, develop approaches that maximize the benefit of data sharing for consumers and business, etc." (Emphasis from Ford).
