Up foro auction is a 1971 ford f-100 short bed sport cistom.I have owned this truck and driven off and on since 1996.I have probably put less than 5k since.I am not not a mechanic at all I have just enjoyed this old truck.I  had the brakes redone aprrox 10 years ago.I replaced the dash when I first got the truck.Thats about all I have done excluding oil changes and a water pump. This truck has a 302 and a 3 speed on the column transmission. Its been a great solid truck with no major issues. The paint appears to be original however i am not sure.It does have a couple rust spots in the bed however appears confined to surface. Tires have less than 1k on them.Steering wheel horn assembly is mising. The seat is original and needs re-upholstered.Interior dash and gauges look good.Has original AM radio but isnt hooked up.All knobs and switches are there. This truck in my opionion is about as original as it can get.I will be glad to answer any question that I can and I will post addl pics if requested. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.I do reserve the right to cancel auction as I do have a "for sale " sign on it.This truck is a blast to drive and everyone loves it.It does sputter sometimes but not much. Its just a good solid truck.Truck is sold "as is" with NO WARRANTY. $500.00 PAY-PAL DEPOSIT WITHIN 48 HRS.Buyer respnible for pick-up or shipping.Cash only.

Ford EcoBoost successful because of Soviet laser weapons system expert?

Sun, 28 Jul 2013

Mike Kluzner is a man of many talents. Not only is he the software engineer responsible for fuel system diagnostics for Ford globally, he "got his start designing laser weapon systems capable of disabling the navigation systems of enemy satellites" for the former Soviet Union. Quite a résumé, wouldn't you say?
You may be asking yourself the same question that popped into our minds upon reading about Mr. Kluzner: What do laser weapon systems have to do with Ford and its EcoBoost engines? We'll let the man answer himself. "The same process for analyzing key physical relationships works for what we do today in engine combustion, catalyst chemistry and mechanics," says Kluzner. "These are all part of Ford's software engineering expertise." Who are we to argue?
Ford also employs an engineer who previously designed software to detect damage to the heat tiles on the International Space Station, as well as one who's past work involved particle physics, says the automaker in the press release below. David Bell (pictured above right), global boost system controls engineer for Ford, describes the software running EcoBoost as "the secret sauce" that makes the technology work as the driver intends and demands.

2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

2012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:
2013 North American Car of the Year:

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.
