This terrific long-bed is my daily driver. My only driver.

I found this truck in April this year and it's titled in my name as a clear NC title.

This Ford has the original 240 ci engine with 1bbl carb and non-thermactor distributor. Manual steering, manual brakes, manual everything. All lights, signals, wipers and heater/fan work 100%. the original owner(s?) never installed seat belts - still wearing the rubber floor plugs when I bought it. New Beams belts with correct Ford buckle were installed May 2014 to take my kids safely to school and back.

It has a new clutch (Sept 2014), new master cylinder and front cylinders (May 2014), new whitewall radials (May 2014) and I just found some very rare polished poverty hubcaps that are correct only for the deluxe 1967 - 1969 models.

The ivory headliner and visors are original and in very nice condition, as is the black rubber floor mat I've covered with a carpet to protect it. Seating is original, but lower bench cover is pretty worn out, hence the saddle cover. New rear window seal, new complete exhaust, new windshield and seal, etc., etc.

Essentially this is an unrestored, rust-free NC truck, built in the Norfolk, Virginia plant. It has the radio delete, all gauges work perfectly (new temp sender as well) and truck drives, shifts, steers and handles very well. No issues. Top speed with this 3-speed and gearing is honestly about 60-65 mph.

Repainted less than four years ago in the original "L" code, "Holly Green". At some point, pine strips were installed but they're a bit warped over time. I have 1" neoprene rubber strip to install if one wishes. Bed and tailgate are overall in excellent, lightly used condition.

Also included is a brand new power brake set-up from GPS Automotive out of Buffalo, NY, custom built for the 6 cyl F-100 with drum brakes. It has the larger 8" booster for even better power. It remains wrapped up, just haven't installed it yet if I ever get tired of the pedal effort currently required...

OEM glove box manual and reprint of all three service manual volumes included.

BMW, Hyundai score big in JD Power's first Tech Experience Index

Mon, Oct 10 2016

While automakers are quick to brag about winning a JD Power Initial Quality Study award, the reality, as we've pointed out before, is that these ratings are somewhat misleading, since IQS doesn't necessarily distinguish genuine quality issues. JD Power's new Tech Experience Index aims to solve that problem. The new metric takes the same 90-day approach as IQS but focuses exclusively on technology – collision protection, comfort and convenience, driving assistance, entertainment and connectivity, navigation, and smartphone mirroring. It splits the industry up into just seven segments, based loosely on size, which is why the Chevrolet Camaro is in the same division (mid-size) as Kia Sorento and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is in the same segment as the Hyundai Genesis (mid-size premium). It makes for some screwy bedfellows, to be sure. Still, splitting tech experience away from initial quality should allow customers to make more informed and intelligent decisions when buying new vehicles. In the inaugural study, respondents listed BMW and Hyundai as the big winners, with two segment awards – the 2 Series for small premium and the 4 Series for compact premium, and the Genesis for mid-size premium and Tucson for small segment. The Chevrolet Camaro (midsize), Kia Forte (compact), and Nissan Maxima (large) scored individual wins. Ford also had a surprising hit with the Lincoln MKC, which ranked third in the compact premium segment behind the 4 Series and Lexus IS. This is a coup for the Blue Oval, whose woeful MyFord Touch systems made the brand a victim of the IQS' flaws in the early 2010s. But Ford and other automakers might not want to celebrate just yet. According to JD Power, there's still a lot of room for improvement – navigation systems were the lowest-rated piece of tech in the study. Instead, customers repeatedly saluted collision-avoidance and safety systems, giving the category the best marks of the study and listing blind-spot monitoring and backup cameras as two must-have features – 96 percent of respondents said they wanted those two systems in their next vehicle. But this isn't really a surprise. Implementation of safety systems from brand to brand is similar, and they don't require any input from users, unlike navigation and infotainment systems which are frustratingly deep.

Autoblog Technology of the Year Award Special | Autoblog Podcast #758

Thu, Dec 1 2022

This episode of the Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore, Road Test Editor Zac Palmer and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. The trio begin by discussing the 2022 Technology of the Year award. Ford's Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch hauling/towing tech as tested in the F-150 Lightning won this year. Why the Ford won, how testing went down and Ford's competition — including the GMC Hummer EV and Genesis GV60 — are discussed. After diving through the Technology of the Year award testing, the three take on this week's news. A mysterious vehicle based on the Corvette (that isn't a Corvette) is supposedly on its way. Audi is giving us "Performance" versions of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Plus, we discuss a recent study that provides data for the 10 longest lasting vehicles on the road today. After the news, the crew dive into the cars they've been driving this week. Greg's been behind the wheel of a Nissan Pathfinder, while Jeremy and Zac have been driving some plug-in hybrids, including the Lexus NX 450h+ and Autoblog's long-term BMW 330e xDrive. Ford Transit Skyliner Concept does discreet luxury in NYC

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

There's something to be said for luxed-out vans. They're cool, and as a means of getting chauffeured about, they're extremely comfortable and far more low key than your typical executive luxury sedan. For the 2014 New York Auto Show, Galpin Auto Sports has shown the potential of the new-for-the-US Ford Transit as an ultra-luxurious people hauler.
The Transit Skyliner Concept, which we previewed last week, sports four finely crafted captain's buckets that can be moved into different formations based on need. Want to watch a movie? The seats can be swung around to face a 52-inch screen. Riding along with some business associates? A table can be popped up. There's even a configuration for tailgating.
The materials are, unsurprisingly, pretty plush. The leather seats and wood floors (yes, wood floors in a van) look great, while the trunk and its customized luggage are a nice touch, as well.
