1966 Ford F100 - Vintage Twin Beam, Rare, Repainted, Rebuilt Original 352 V8 on 2040-cars
Los Angeles, California, United States
1966 F100 twin beam. Great riding and driving tuck. A show stopper that turns head wherever it goes. It has super sharp red and white exterior with red and black interior. Has a great classic engine growl..... Incredibly fun truck! Whenever I drive it, passer-bys, honk their horns and give the thumbs up!!!
Engine and front end rebuilt, V8 352", 3 on a stick upgraded to Auto (C6?), nice two tone recent paint job, reupholstered seats, new floor cover, original OEM radio AM restored for authenticity with iPhone jack (note: one speaker mono in dash), new battery, many restoration touches. Comes with original Ford instruction manual, seems to have been originally sold in Florida (from name inside original instruction manuall). From what I was told from original owner (but I do not have any documentation on this), truck has had a rebuilt front end, new rings, bearings, timing gear chain, starter, fuel pump, and more. I added the original AM radio from that period (mono one speaker in dash) with the iphone jack (Joe's Classic Car Radio added small circuit board integrated into older system!). I had work finished which includes new distributor, Weber carburator totally rebuilt, repaired emergency brake by finding missing undercarriage lever, added red seat belts to match red upholstery, replaced all fluids, and other maintenance, and it wasn't cheap. Engine starts right up. Sounds great..... (in California you are not required to to Smog, so its has great original sound!) Truck runs good. Looks like it has not been in any accidents for we saw no puddy, etc. work underside. I also added interior side panels on doors with original aluminum trim (not pictured). Truck bed looks like it was covered in black powdercoat. More pictures coming. I did not initially restore the truck and so cannot verify all claims nor was I given any paperwork. Truck was purchased to use as a picture vehicle in some media and was driven very little in the last year, but enough to keep it well-running. For that reason, I cannot offer any in depth details as I was not part of the major restoration process. So there are no implied warranties or guarantees. Truck is sold "as is." Buyer must pick up or arrange own transportation or hauling. |

Ward's Automotive Ten Best Engines of 2014 dominated by diesels, turbos
Thu, 12 Dec 2013With the Car and Driver Ten Best decided, the North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists announced and Cadillac, Ram and Subaru chalking up wins with Motor Trend, it's fair to say that the automotive awards season is in full swing. The next set of trophies to be handed out will be from Ward's Automotive, which has announced the winners of its 2014 10 Best Engines.
The latest contest was marked by the widespread emergence of diesel power and the continued success of turbocharged engines. There was even an electric motor on this year's list. In fact, only three of the ten winners were naturally aspirated and only two winners returned from last year.
"We weren't looking to throw the bums out, as they might say about an election. We were just really impressed with the flood of new powertrains," said Ward's Automotive Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter. Those new powertrains include the 83-kilowatt electric motor from the Fiat 500e, the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Ford Fiesta and the 2.0-liter turbodiesel from the Chevrolet Cruze.
Pony-car sales war: Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger [UPDATE]
Fri, Jul 3 2015Update: An earlier version of this story misstated the 2015 Mustang's weight when compared with previous models. Additionally, we have added comments from Chevrolet in the text. The Ford Mustang has blown past the Chevy Camaro as America's best-selling pony car, and in June, it wasn't even close. The 'Stang outsold the Camaro 11,719 to 8,611 cars. The Camaro remained ahead of the Dodge Challenger, which sold 6,845 units. Even though the Camaro did post an 11.5-percent sales improvement in June, the competition is arguably stronger than at anytime since the 1970s muscle-car era. The Mustang's sales leapt a whopping 53.6 percent, while the Challenger saw a gain of 56 percent. Several factors are weighing down Camaro sales, including its lame duck status. Chevy is launching a new generation of the Camaro this year that's more than 200 pounds lighter, offers a new turbo four-cylinder engine option, and has a nicer interior than the outgoing model. Put simply: wait a few months and you can get a better car. It's also unlikely Chevy will jack up the price much, as it's historically kept the Camaro within reach of everyday enthusiasts. While Chevy fans wait in anticipation for their new sports car, Ford and Dodge have downshifted. The new Mustang, which went on sale last year, is faster and more sophisticated than its predecessor. It also offers a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which Ford has credited for the Mustang's recent uptick and makes up 36 percent of the car's sales, Ford analyst Erich Merkle said. View 17 Photos June's performance allowed the Mustang to widen its sales gap with the Camaro this year. Through the first five months, Ford sold 68,290 Mustangs, a 54.4-percent increased compared with 2014. Chevy sold 42,593 Camaros, an 8.7-percent decrease. The Challenger – long the No. 3 pony car in sales volume – has seen its sales surge 41 percent this year to 37,011 units. Spokesman Monte Doran said Chevy expected that 2015 would be a "relatively soft year" for the Camaro. "Mustang is taking advantage of years' worth of pent-up demand for an independent rear suspension," he said. "When Camaro introduced an IRS, in 2009, it helped make us the best-selling performance car in America.
Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey
Fri, 01 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively. You can read the full press release below for more information, or head over to the Consumer Reports site.
