Up for sale is a 1966 Ford F100 Custom Cab Long Box Pickup. This Pickup belonged to a good friend of mine who Passed away earlier this year from Lung Cancer. It was His pride and joy, but he was unable to finish it before he passed. The title is clear and his widow has it. She is looking for the receipt's for the machine work and parts. I'm not a Ford guy I have always been a mopar guy. Pete was Ford all the way, you could ask him about any question about Ford's and he could tell you right off the top of his head. But he is not here for me to ask. I can tell you that he always did thing's right with no short cut's. I know the motor was torn down and completely rebuilt. But I do not how much it was bored or if the crank was turned or just polished. The heads look to be fresh from what I can see. It has a pair of stainless steel headers on it, some pipe, some bends and a pair of mufflers in the bed. There are some NOS emblems in boxes and other odds and ends. I have looked around the shop and found the parts it will take to get it running, but I would and know Pete would use them as cores. I work for Auto Zone and all the parts are avalible. There is also a new in the box Radiator for it that goes with it. The Body is very straight, some light damage on the left side of the box. And two small holes in the door sill's that look like they were cut not rust but not 100% sure, But they are in the same place on both sides and there is no Rust any where else on the truck that I can see. It has the factory tool box on the right side of the box in front of the rear wheel and it is clean with no rust in it "see pictures". All glass is good with no crack's. Anyway this is a Project not a Driver But I do not think it would take much to make it a Driver or to restore. Pete's Widow would like to sell the truck and use the money to go spend the time she has left with her Daugther back East. Thanks for looking !!!! You can contact me after 6pm cdt at 402-714-0799 Thanks again Rick

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.

2015 Ford Mustang production starts in Flat Rock

Thu, 28 Aug 2014

Today's the day, Ford fans. Production has officially commenced on the sixth-generation 2015 Mustang at the company's Flat Rock, MI factory. As production ramps up, sales should kick off in the coming months.
The production news isn't just a bit deal for American fans. With the new Mustang getting a bespoke right-hand-drive variant, the pony car's worldwide availability has swollen to include 120 different countries, including its home nation.
"Mustang is and will continue to be an automotive icon," Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the Americas, said in a statement. "Expanding its availability globally affords our customers around the world the opportunity to have a true firsthand Mustang experience - one unlike any other."

Ford taken to task by gov't for Chicken Tax end-around

Mon, 23 Sep 2013

Ford is in a bit of a pickle for importing and selling Turkey-built Transit Connect cargo vans as passenger vehicles in the US, then converting them to commercial-vehicle specification stateside in an effort to bypass a 25-percent tax imposed on vehicles imported for commercial use. Automakers are required to pay a 2.5-percent tax on imported passenger vehicles.
The Blue Oval got into trouble for this in a January ruling in which U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials asked Ford to stop the practice of importing the Transit Connect vehicles with passenger seats, then removing and shredding them. Now Automotive News reports that Ford is appealing the ruling. The 25-percent "Chicken Tax," as the tariff is often called, is 50 years old and was enacted as a response to a German tariff on chickens. Like Ford, Chrysler bypasses the higher tariff, but it does so in a different manner. It partially disassembles Sprinter cargo vans before shipping them to the US, then rebuilds them at a plant in South Carolina.
But the ruling against Ford's strategy states that it "serves no manufacturing or commercial purpose" and is there to "manipulate the tariff schedule," Automotive News reports. As Ford's appeal goes through, it is importing the Transit Connect and paying the higher tax, hoping for a favorable outcome and planning to build the next-generation Transit Connect, which it plans to launch before the end of the year, in Spain.
