1962 Ford F-100 Unibody For Sale

This is a recently restored Ford F-100.  Rare truck.  The bed and the cab are one

piece of metal: no seam between the two.  These trucks were only made a few years.

There has been much work completed on this truck.  All of the hard work is done.

I received it when it was about 85% complete.  The metal work, paint and interior

have been done.  It runs good with a 302, four barrel engine and what appears to be

a C4 Transmission.

Some new parts include:

--Paint (Beautiful GM Midnight Metallic Blue)

--Interior: New Seat Cover and Interior Painted to match the outside color

--Windshield

--Stereo

--Some Engine work; appears to have aluminum heads

--New dual exhaust

--Total rework of bed

--New tailgate handles

--New rolled pan for rear exhaust

--Some new door and windshield rubber/felts

This truck will be a good buy for a person who likes to "tweak" to make a better

truck, but does not have the time to do a ground up restoration.  The hard work

has been completed.  It DOES drive like a truck.  No power anything but you!

It is not perfect, but the paint is even (with a few chips) and the metalwork is good.

The engine runs good, but is no power house.  It's a heavy truck.  This would make

a good cruiser for someone at a fair price.  My reserve will be reasonable.

We are located in the beautiful Northeast Corner of Tennessee about 8 miles from Interstate

81, near Bristol, Tennessee.

I am not sure on actual mileage on this truck.  It shows 28K miles on the odometer, but the

speedometer will need some cable/gear work to function.

Please do not ask about shipping.  We do not provide shipping.  The vehicle is

sold as-is where-is.  We reserve the right to sell the truck before the sale ends,

because it is for sale locally.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Update: July 3, 2014

I am adding a Buy-It-Now price and lowering the reserve.  A lot of interest in this

truck.  Thank you for your questions.

I have totally positive 100% Feedback.  I have not sold anything recently so

my score does not show the history.

Thank you for your bids.

Hurricane Sandy cost automakers 15,000 vehicles, may have ruined up to 200k

Wed, 07 Nov 2012

Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic storm in US history, and its total economic impact is just now coming into view. According to Automotive News, Toyota, Chrysler, Nissan and Honda are set to scrap around 15,000 new vehicles ruined by the storm. Nissan alone accounts for about 40 percent of those, with 6,000 Nissan and Infiniti models deeded "un-saleable" due to damage. The company saw 56 dealerships shuttered due to the storm, but 51 of those have since reopened.
Toyota, meanwhile, had some 4,000 vehicles at its Newark port facility, and of those, 3,000 may be scrapped. An additional 825 were dealer inventory when they were ruined. Honda and Acura dealers are reportedly sending 3,440 vehicles to the salvage yard. By comparison, Chrysler weathered the storm fairly well with 825 units destroyed, while Hyundai suffered only 400 lost units and Kia scrapped around 200.
As you may recall, Fisker also suffered some losses, and Automotive News reports the manufacturer saw 320 Karma models damaged beyond repair. Ford and General Motors have yet to come up with estimates, and no automaker has commented on the full cost of replacing the vehicles.

Former Cadillac boss Butler takes Ford tech job

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

When Don Butler made the surprising decision to leave his post as Cadillac's VP of global strategic development, it was a surprise. Citing a desire to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities" in that August announcement, it wasn't entirely clear where Butler - a virtual General Motors lifer after spending nearly 30 years with the company - would end up. Turns out he took a trip to Dearborn.
Butler has taken a position in the newly created position of Executive Director of Connected Vehicles and Services at Ford, where he'll be responsible for the Blue Oval's global connectivity strategy. "Not only does Don understand the connected car landscape, but probably just as important, he understands customer expectations," said Raj Nair, who, as Group Vice President of Global Product Development, is Butler's new boss. "Having a leader with technology experience both inside and outside the industry is a rare combination - we're excited to have Don join our team."
As Ford has received its fair share of flak for the sometimes recalcitrant MyFord Touch infotainment system and its Sync voice-controls, it appears that Butler has his work cut out for him.

NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.
