The truck is about 90% restored with some interior work remaining to be done. 292 Y-Block engine completely rebuilt with about 3000 miles on it since the rebuild. Runs on todays gasoline. It has a Chevrolet 350 transmission. Original ford rear end and brakes on the back and a Heidt front end with power disc brakes, GMC tilt steering column, power steering, Lokar shifter. 1987 Dodge Caravan bucket seats. Front fenders and running boards are fiber glass. Painless wiring harness (12 volts) with all new brake lines and fuel lines. This is not a show truck--I use the truck daily during the good weather (has not been driven in the snow or on salted roads). I have owned the truck for 14 years. Hard to find truck in any condition--would be great advertising for a business with the company name on the side or just to go to cruise nights in. Mustang GT350 reveal coming Nov 17?
Mon, 03 Nov 2014Ford looks to have something really big planned for the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Blue Oval has released the first of five teaser videos on the brand's performance heritage, and aside from some great images of racers over the years, the video includes a series of teaser images, the last of which points to November 17, 2014.
That's the day before press days open in LA, and considering the propensity of global automakers to plan lavish debuts the night before a major international auto show, it's a virtual certainty that Ford will be showing off some sort of special vehicle.
That'd be news in and of itself, but based on the images shown in Ford's teaser video - which include an Alcantara steering wheel, a "Powered by Ford" valve cover, aluminum pedals, sticky tires, a big, round exhaust tip, a honeycomb grille and a serious set of wheels - it seems very likely that Ford will be showing something performance oriented.
Ford reveals new rapid prototyping and low-volume production techniques [w/video]
Mon, 08 Jul 2013It's called "F3T," and that stands for Ford Free-form Fabrication Technology. The process that The Blue Oval has developed means being able to sidestep the weeks-long process of tool-and-die making when engineers want to construct a new part, allowing them to fabricate a three-dimensional part from a two-dimensional sheet of metal in just hours.
While F3T is being developed it is limited to "low-volume prototyping or even low-volume niche vehicles," but the next step is to evaluate it for use in Ford's global manufacturing facilities. You can find out more about it in the video and the press release below.
