1955 Ford F-100 Custom Cab Rare Y Paint Code Mountain Green 223 I6 3 Spd on 2040-cars
Huntsville, Alabama, United States
***THERE IS A SLIDESHOW WITH MORE DETAILED PICS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS AUCTION***
1955 Ford F-100 Custom Cab Pickup. This truck was built at the Memphis plant and has the rare special order Y paint code of Mountain Green. I had to research the code. Evidently it was not offered on the trucks, only the cars, and you had to special order it. It has the original 223 I-6 engine and original 3 spd on the column transmission. It also has the spare tire rack on the drivers side of the bed. These trucks are getting harder to find. I have included pics of a restored 1955 F-100 in Mountain Green to show how beautiful this truck will be when finished. The original engine and transmission are in the truck. However, the head has been pulled off the engine and is lost. The cylinders are partially filled with what appears to be oil to protect them but there is no telling how long they have been uncovered so I would definitely count on rebuilding the engine or replacing it with a V8. The body is in decent shape as far as these trucks go unrestored. The front fenders have holes in the front of them which is a shame because the sides of them are pretty good. I would buy two good used ones. The hood has holes in the front and on the passenger side that could be patched or replace it with a new/used one. The cab corners will need to be replaced. The drivers side door is in good shape with just a few holes but the passenger side door is pretty much completely rusted out at the bottom. The rockers have a few small holes. The cab floor is solid everywhere except on the passenger side in the corner by the door. Most everything that needs to be fixed or replaced is available used on Ebay right now or go with new stuff from the online parts dealers. ***Both running boards are rusted out but INCLUDED in this auction are two new aftermarket running boards for this truck (shown in the pics) worth around $500 with shipping.*** The bed has an ancient diamond plate cap welded in over the old wood bed that will need to removed. If you look under the bed you can still see the slats and rails still under there. The top and sides of the bed itself are solid and pretty straight but there are holes in the floor around the welded in cap that will need to be repaired or replaced (see the pics). The tailgate is good but it will need some welding work at the attachment points to be perfect. The rear fenders will need either patch work or need to be replaced. Good cheap used ones are all over Ebay right now. All of the glass is either broken or blistered and needs to be replaced. The frame is solid everywhere that I can see underneath. The seat is in it. The front bumper is twisted. It will need to be hammered straight and welded. The rear bumper is straight. Both need to be rechromed. The rear wheels are/were chrome steelies. Not sure about the front. There is no title. Alabama law does not require a title for vehicles 35+ years old. Car will come with a bill of sale. UK auto magazine says this is the best car commercial of all time [w/videos]
Thu, 20 Dec 2012There have been many great car commercials over the years, but is it possible to define the best? Well, Ad Week recently took a crack at it by rating the top commercials of the year by looking at their view counts on YouTube, but Auto Express took a more democratic approach by putting the decision to a vote. Just after Thanksgiving, Auto Express came up with a list of the 20 popular commercials, and it tasked its readers with choosing the winner for the best car ad of all time. The winner? Honda's 2003 commercial for its then-new European Accord titled "The Cog."
While the ad never aired in the US, most car people have surely seen the impressive Rube Goldberg-style spot. In fact, the only commercial on this list that we saw on US television was the Volkswagen ad "The Force," but many of the others have become viral videos, including transforming and dancing Citroën C4. Of the 19 other commercials that vied for the title of best ad of all time, only the Ford Puma "Steve McQueen" commercial gave Honda a run for its advertising money.
Scroll down to watch Auto Express' top five commercial in order and to check out a press release, then let us know some of your favorite car commercials in Comments.
Ford files trademark for 'EcoBeast' moniker
Mon, Dec 29 2014Ford has done some performance stuff with its EcoBoost line of vehicles, most notably with its Focus and Fiesta ST, the new, turbocharged Mustang and the luke-warm Taurus SHO and F-150 Tremor, but it's kind of avoided going wholly bonkers. That could be set to change quite soon, judging by a trademark filing with Uncle Sam. Ford has registered the name EcoBeast with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, listing it as "automobiles and automobile engines," according to the team at Motorlix, which discovered the filing. As always, it bears mentioning that companies are constantly filing trademarks, even if a good or service never emerges with said name. We agree with Motorlix, though – it seems highly unlikely Ford is going to just let this name languish. What vehicle or engine will wear this new badge is the real question. We're leaning towards something F-150 related, based on our last round of spy photos of the new SVT Raptor, although it's impossible to say for certain what the Blue Oval has planned. Here's hoping we find out in just a few weeks when Ford brings basically all of its performance merchandise to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Until then, let us know what you think Ford is planning with the EcoBeast.
2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost already hitting 12-second quarters
Sun, 28 Sep 2014The arrival of a new Ford Mustang means many things to many people, but not least of them is drag racers. The pony car has always been a mainstay of the drag strip, and the Ford Racing team aims to carry that reputation forward with this latest generation. So it cooked up a few basic modifications on three new 'Stangs and headed to the strips at US 131 and Milan Dragway to see what they could coax out of 'em.
Impressively, the 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT with a few modifications (but no forced induction) managed to clock a quarter-mile time of 11.77 seconds. Another Mustang GT fitted with a supercharger clocked a blistering 10.97 seconds. But just as intriguing was the modified EcoBoost model that, with only four cylinders and 2.3 liters of displacement, still passed the gates in just 12.56 seconds - nearly half a second better than expected. This with modification limited to a new subframe, half-shaft, drive shaft loops, exhaust, engine calibration, slicks, roll cage and bucket seat. Well done, boys.
