This is an extremely clean 1954 Ford F100 1/2 ton short bed. It has under 29,000 since the complete re-build. Everything on this truck works. It is a nice reliable daily driver or show truck. The truck was a high quality build and is still able to win awards at local shows. The truck cruises down the highway at 70 mph at 2300 rpm thanks to the overdrive transmission and 3:25 gears. This has always been a California truck and rarely sees rain.

Drive-train:

The Chevrolet 327 V8 was completely rebuilt with a mild cam ( 268 D, 450 L) and 10 to 1 compression. It has a Holley aluminum intake with Edelbrock 4 barrel carb.,  air cleaner and high volume fuel pump, Aluminum valve covers, HEI ignition with MSD 8mm wires, shorty headers with Flowmaster exhaust system and a new aluminum radiator.

The transmission is a rebuilt S&W Performance 700R4, 4 speed automatic overdrive with Lokar fill tube.

The rear end is a Currie built Ford 9” peg leg with 3.25 gears and drum brakes hung on mono leaf springs.

The rear suspension also has an air bag system with on board compressor, interior controls and gauge.

The front suspension is a completely rebuilt Volare independent with power steering and power disc brakes.

Wheels are 18” Boze. Fronts are 18x8 with 245/45/18 Falken tires and the rears are 18x9 with 275/40/18 Falken tires.

There is a new aluminum 19 gal. fuel tank under the driver side of the cab.

Body/ Interior:

The body is very straight and rust free with a high quality pearl yellow paint job. There have been a few touch ups and a couple minor chips from use. The front bumper has been removed and a roll pan added. The rear bumper has been raised and the mounting brackets shortened. It also has a hidden receiver trailer hitch behind the hinged license plate. The body seams have been smoothed and the emblems removed. The door handles have been shaved and the driver door is on a popper. The windows have been converted to one piece power with tinted glass. The gas filler has been placed behind a door, the hood is reverse tilt and the tailgate has a Sir Michaels smooth skin with hidden latches. The bed floor is steel and the bed, running boards, interior floor and rear cab have been coated with Tuff Skin spray one material.

The complete interior was redone including billet gauge face with 5 Classic Instruments gauges, a tach beneath the dash, billet headlight and wiper knobs, billet pop out cup holders, billet Lokar gas pedal/ linkage and brake pad, an am/fm/cd player in the glove box, tweed headliner, visors and door panels, tilt steering column with billet banjo wheel and controls, leather 60/40 seat with storage underneath, billet third brake light and 2 speed electric wipers.

The truck is currently licensed and insured in my name.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, however I will assist where I can. Or, just drive it home.

Deposit due in 3 days and full payment in 7 days unless agreed upon in advance. If terms not met the sale will be canceled.

The truck is for sale locally and the auction could be ended if the reserve has not been met. The reserve is set lower than the current bids on comparable trucks listed.

Ford director says company has big efficiency plans, but no dedicated EV

Wed, Mar 12 2014

The annual autofest known as the North American International Auto Show previews a plethora of exciting new products that we'll see and drive later in the year, from tiny urban commuters to family sedans and crossovers to hard-working big pickups and SUVs. It's also a once-a-year cornucopia of auto executives and leaders from around the world. "There will be some really fun stuff that you'll hear about in the future" - Ford's Kevin Layden So, in-between dozens of cool new-product unveilings on rotating stages during the two press days preceding the public show, we auto scribes grab what planned and impromptu interviews we can. Sessions with top industry leaders can be hard to get, but I was able to score a seat in a group session with then-General Motors North America president (now executive VP of global product development) Mark Reuss, and I also managed brief one-on-ones with a trio of vehicle electrification leaders, one each from Ford, BMW and GM, and what they said then remains relevant now. First up is Kevin Layden, Ford's Director of Electrified Powertrain Engineering. ABG: Where will Ford go beyond its current Focus EV and hybrids, and will there be a Ford EV and/or hybrid on its own energy-optimized platform one day. KL: We don't want to do a dedicated electric vehicle with all the development costs borne by a niche product. At the Michigan Assembly plant right now we're building the Focus electric, PHEV and EcoBoost on the same assembly line. Also the C-Max, with both a hybrid and an Energi plug-in, and we use that same power pack in the Fusion Hybrid and Energi. We want to be, "The power of choice" [a Ford marketing slogan], so having that choice for customers is very important. And if I want to sell the Fusion, Focus and C-Max globally, we can use these power packs wherever it makes sense. So as we go forward, you'll see us proliferating the power packs we have today. Then the question is, what do we do next? There will be some really fun stuff that you'll hear about in the future. ABG: Is the efficiency difference between a dedicated ultra-efficient vehicle platform and a shared multi-use platform getting smaller as all platforms get more efficient? KL: Exactly. Were going through aero studies now on wheels and tires and hood sealers on base vehicles. We have full aerodynamic wind tunnel studies going on with the base Focus and C-Max, so all of that [aerodynamic improvement] will be there for EVs.

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands

Your official Ford Transit specs are here, $29,565* to start

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Ford has released the full list of pricing and specs on its new Transit, the replacement for the long-lived E-Series cargo van. Prices are set to start at $29,565 and can increase rapidly from there, depending on length, engine and wheelbase, among other options.
Let's talk first about those new engines. The base is the familiar 3.7-liter, naturally aspirated V6. It boasts 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and can return up to 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. This engine can also be adapted to run on LPG or compressed natural gas. Of course, there are better alternatives, for a price, the first of which is Ford's well-received, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. It packs 310 hp and a best-in-class 400 lb-ft of torque (available at just 2,500 rpm) while matching the naturally aspirated engine in both city and highway fuel economy.
Then, there's the diesel. With a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel mill at its disposal, the Transit generates 350 lb-ft between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm, along with 185 hp. This engine hasn't been rated by the EPA, although we'd be really, really surprised if it didn't handily best either of the gas-powered engines in fuel efficiency. A six-speed automatic is standard, regardless of engine.
