1953 Ford F100 Pick-up Truck on 2040-cars
Elkton, Virginia, United States
You are bidding on a 1953 Ford F100 pick-up. This truck is an every day driver and is driven regularly. Running condition is very good. The original 6 cylinder inline engine runs great and has recently been tuned up. The original oil bath air cleaner is still in use. The carburetor was recently rebuilt and a new fuel pump was installed. The side pan and valve cover gaskets were replaced recently as well. The entire brake system was recently replaced as well, including new master cylinder, new brake lines and new wheel cylinders. The windshield is new as well. The wood in the bed has been replaced in the last two years and it was coated with wood treatment to keep it from rotting. The tires are in good condition with plenty of miles left on them. The paint is several years old and is not original. There are plenty of scratches and nicks in the paint, especially in the bed as this truck is used as an every day driver. The dash has all of the gauges but newer aftermarket gauges have been installed for more accuracy. The interior has been replaced as the pics show and it is in excellent condition with the exception of one tear on the drivers side of the bench seat(see the pictures). I have a asking price but will accept a reasonable offer for less, but please, REASONABLE OFFERS ONLY! A $500.00 deposit is required at the time of sale with the balance due upon pick-up, cash only, no checks. I will not ship the vehicle! Ford Mustang GT Bi-Fuel CNG
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Highly intrigued, we recently visited a Southern California Gas Company office to check out several hybrid vehicles promising something new. Unlike more commonplace gasoline-electric hybrids, we were there to evaluate innovative gasoline-compressed natural gas (CNG) hybrids - yes, they run on unleaded gasoline and compressed natural gas. According to the experts on hand, this arrangement delivers extended range and reduced emissions while chipping in with lower operating costs than pure-gasoline vehicles. There are advantages over its gasoline-electric counterparts, as well.
The program is part of a three-way collaboration between The Carlab, a Southern California-based automotive consulting firm, Landi Renzo USA, a company specializing in alternative fuel solutions, and America's Natural Gas Alliance, a group that promotes CNG. Long story short, the team has engineered a way to allow a modified internal combustion vehicle to seamlessly switch between two fuels (gasoline and CNG) with no driver intervention. In theory, and if it works as well as promised, it's a win-win for the vehicle owner and the environment.
Parked at the Gas Company office were six different gasoline-CNG hybrid vehicles. To demonstrate the technology's versatility (just about any gasoline vehicle may be modified) Carlab brought a varied assortment of bodystyles, each from a different automaker. After taking a quick glance at the half-dozen in the parking lot, we made a beeline for the performance-oriented Ford Mustang GT - a 2012 model - with the six-speed manual gearbox.

Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007
Sat, 21 Sep 2013Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.
