Hello,
Here is a 2005 Explorer in near mint condition, This has been maticulously maintained and needs nothing! Over the last year. When she needed maintanance, she got it! No Rust at all. We dont have a need for a SUV any longer.
The 2 wd is a MUCH more reliable vehicle than the 4wd as the gas mileage is much better, and less mechanical wear items to break. (this gets about 18 mpg, which is a testiment to condition of the engine) Within the last 5000 miles, we have replaced:
All 4 struts
All 4 springs
All 4 wheel bearings
Tie rods (inner and outer)
Tie rod ends
Front ball joints
Front control arms
sway bar bushings and ends
EGR valve (expensive!)
Belt tensioner
Belt idler pulley
Belt
Allignment
Mobil one oil/filter changed
This truck drives like BRAND NEW
at 100,000 miles thetransmition servos were replaced, filter, fluid, and valves replaced,
Differential fluid replaced with synthetic
Tires are all in great shape and have more than 80 percent life remaining. Brakes and hoses are all in good shape.
All of this work was done because the parts were worn, and my girlfriend drives this 40 miles each way to school. NOT because of a collision.
So whats wrong with it?
1 of the 4 tire pressure monitor sensors have a dead battery. It will need to be replaced at 77.00 installed by discount tire. The pressure monitoring STILL WORKS however. I will probably have this fixed before the sale ends.
Also there is a small dent UNDER the fender in front of the door. You wouldnt see it if you didnt know where to look.

Ford recalls 300,000 Crown Vics over lighting module
Wed, Dec 23 2015The Basics: Ford is recalling 312,814 units of the Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis sedans from the 2003-2005 model years. They were built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant between Oct. 3, 2001, and Aug. 2, 2005. Ford says 296,004 of those units are located in the United States, with another 14,714 in Canada and 2,096 in Mexico. The Problem: The solder joints on the lighting control module could crack, depriving the headlamps of the power they need to light the way ahead. That could increase the risk of a crash, particularly at night and in other low-visibility situations. Injuries/Deaths: Ford reports that it is aware of 11 accidents that resulted from the problem, leading to one injury described as "minor." The Fix: The manufacturer is instructing dealers to replace the entire lighting control module. If You Own One: Make sure your headlights are working before getting under way. If they're not, avoid driving under low-light conditions, including at night, in heavy precipitation, or in fog. Ford turns Navistar from truck business customer to rival
Mon, 19 May 2014There is a showdown brewing in the medium-duty truck segment next year as Ford prepares to launch its all-new, in-house engineered 2016 F-650 and F-750. It finally marks the end of the Blue Diamond joint venture between Ford and Navistar and, making the two entities direct competitors instead of partners.
Ford announced the end of the joint venture in an investor report in 2011, but it didn't reveal the new F-650 and F-750 until the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, in March. Unlike the current, Mexican-built models, the new generation will be built in Avon Lake, OH, starting in mid-2015.
The challenge from Ford comes during a rough patch for Navistar. The company had a $248 million loss in the first quarter, according to The Wall Street Journal, and its medium-duty truck market share is currently down to 26 percent, from 36 percent in 2011. Building the previous-generation Fords brought in about $400 million a year to Navistar, according to the WSJ. To take on its former partner, Navistar plans to offer its International brand of medium-duty vehicles with more engine and transmission options to customers. It even struck a deal with Cummins to put its diesels in some of the models.
Ford Explorer, Expedition next to go aluminum?
Sun, 13 Apr 2014Ford made some serious waves when it unveiled the latest F-150. Instead of making its bodywork out of steel, like just about every other truck on the market, Ford went with aluminum. And you can bet the F-150 won't be the last Ford model to go with the lightweight alloy construction, either.
Our compatriots at Edmunds report that Dearborn is considering replacing two of its most popular SUVs with aluminum versions. One candidate is the Expedition, which would make sense considering that the current model (like the two preceding generations and the fullsize Bronco before it) is based on the F-150's underpinnings. Another is the Explorer, which was traditionally based on the Ranger pickup but went with a car-like unibody chassis in its current iteration. If the Explorer does go the way of aluminum, don't expect it to be a part of its very next update, which is likely due too soon for such major changes.
It would stand to reason that, if the Expedition were to go aluminum, so would the next-generation Lincoln Navigator. Ditto the MKT together with the Explorer. But those aren't likely to be the only models in contention for aluminum construction. Like any other automaker, Ford is under pressure to steadily reduce its carbon emissions and improve its fuel economy figures, prompting it to look at a whole range of measures - including more efficient engines, lower rolling-resistance tires, active aerodynamics and lightweight construction. Expect aluminum to play a big part in that equation moving forward.
