Listed for sale is this 2004 Ford Explorer XLT with approximately 119K miles. The vehicle is in good condition inside and out. The interior shows minor wear and tear, and the leather seats and carpet are free of rips. The exterior is also in good condition with only a few scuffs and scratches
The vehicle will needs mechanical work. A newer transmission was recently installed, and worked perfectly for a few weeks. However, now the Park gear doesn't work; so the vehicle rolls if not on an uneven surface. Also, the reverse doesn't always work. I took it to another mechanic who said the transmission seems to be fine, but it appears to be an issue with the linkage, which could happen if the transmission wasn't installed properly. The vehicle was just recently serviced and tuned-up. In addition, both catalytic convertors were replaced, but it will need O2 sensors will need to be replaced. The airbag light is also on due to a sensor. Still, this is a very nice vehicle overall, and if you compare, you would see this vehicle retails for as high as $6000. Ford sells 7-millionth Explorer in America
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Say what you will about the evolution of the Ford Explorer, from roofed Ranger to body-on-frame sport utility vehicle to unibody crossover - the bottom line is that it's been a tremendously successful model for Ford. In fact, the Blue Oval automaker has sold seven million Explorer models in the United States alone.
The milestone, marked nearly a quarter-century after the introduction of the original in 1990, comes on the eve of the introduction of a new Explorer at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. We don't yet know how the new Explorer will shape up, but we're mere days away from finding out.
Now heading into its sixth generation, the Explorer has formed the basis of Ford's utility lineup for over two decades. The Explorer landed on the market right around the time that the Bronco was trailing off, predating the company's expansion into larger SUVs like the Expedition and Excursion and crossovers like the Escape, Edge and Flex.
Ford S-Max Concept proves minivans aren't always minivans [w/video]
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Ford's latest don't-call-it-a-minivan is called the S-Max Concept, and it's a looker. As you can see, the conceptual overgrown hatch makes good use of Ford's latest design language, especially at the very front of the S-Max, which bears a striking resemblance to production models that include the Focus, C-Max and Fusion.
Powering the S-Max Concept is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and while Ford doesn't actually list power figures for the concept, previous estimates put the mill at 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet). Inside, there's room for seven passengers and at least some of their luggage.
As you'd expect, the S-Max is loaded up with all of Ford's latest infotainment technology, including Sync and MyFordTouch. More interestingly, there are also onboard heart and blood glucose monitors that we doubt will be seeing the light of production anytime soon. On that topic, don't expect to see any S-Max-shaped vehicles hitting the US market from Ford, either.
