2003 Ford Explorer Awd 4wd Eddie Bauer Green And Tan on 2040-cars
Golden, Colorado, United States
Excellent condition 2003 Ford Explorer with the somewhat rare Eddie
Bauer two-tone leather interior and 4.6L V8 engine. We have owned this
car since 2004 and it has been an extremely reliable vehicle.
Amazingly, it can get up to 22 MPG on the highway. Regularly
maintained, and it really is in excellent condition for a 2003. That
being said, there are minor cosmetic things that I will list below, but
know that this is an excellent vehicle that I have little doubt will
reliably run for another 100,000 miles if not significantly further.
Here are some details:
- Eddie Bauer package, with two tone leather seats - 4 door with rear full door that can also open via the rear window - Michelin Latitude X-ice snow tire (probably 50% life remaining) - Power Sun Roof - New JVC Stereo with CD and AUX inlet - Luggage Rack - All Wheel Drive / 4 Wheel Drive, is great in the Colorado Front range winter conditions - Towing Package with controller - Air Conditioner - Heated drivers and passenger seat Minor cosmetic issues: - crack in windshield in top left, not visible when driving - a couple of minor scratches on hood (probably could be waxed or buffed out) - on plastic bumper under rear left tail light, there is a dent/scrape (probably someone bumped it in the parking lot) - there are a couple of tiny chips in the paint on the right passengers door - Driver's seat, low on the right side almost to where the horizontal seat meets the vertical "backrest" the vinyl (leather on top, vinyl/plastic material on the side) is worn and has a few cracks in it. - Right rear door trim fell off (still have it... about 2 feet, goes above the door handle). - There might be a couple of other minor blemishes, but in general, the paint is in great shape, and is two-tone green and tan. I purchased this in 2004 when it was almost new, and it has been a great, dependable car for my daughter who used it for the last 10 years as a student at CSU (undergrad and vet school). She and her husband are moving to Japan this week, and can't take it with them, so I am selling it for her. Please respond to me via e-mail, or feel free to call me if you have any questions. I am not interested in talking to any dealers, period |

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has a bit of a dyno issue
Tue, 28 May 2013We're of the mind that each and every dyno should come with Murphy's Law painted in big, visible letters down the side. For every ten successful dyno runs out there, it seems there's one where events to horribly wrong. Take, for example, the video below. The clip shows what happens when a Ford Shelby GT500 and a mobile dyno have a bit of a disagreement at the Performance Expo 24 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. We won't spoil the results for you, but we will say there's some substantial carnage involved.
It's unclear just how much damage ensues from the dust up or whether anyone was harmed in the incident, but from the looks of things, everyone made it out without serious injury. If only we could say the same for the machines involved. Check out the video below.
Are we about to see a real SUV revival?
Wed, Mar 23 2016Now that the marketplace has been oversaturated with cute-utes, crossovers, and CUV coupes, are we about to see a resurgence of real, honest-to-God SUVs? Ummm... maybe. The stars seem to be aligning in that direction, at least that's the sense I'm getting. We know an all-new Jeep Wrangler is only a few auto shows away; and that Jeep is about to introduce a new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for 2017, in the same rugged spirit of the successful Cherokee and Renegade Trailhawks. Ford has hinted at a neo-Bronco, after showing the concept above in 2014 to wet the mouths of all those Duck Dynasty-types out there. And, and... wait for it... I recently learned that Subaru sent a questionnaire out to some Forester owners asking if they might be interested in an off-road package if it were offered. The items listed were pretty hardcore, serious stuff, such as: integrated tow/recovery hooks, additional ground clearance, more rugged wheels, skid plates, altimeter, front-view off-road camera, improved approach and departure angles, advanced differentials, Inclinometer, full-size spare tire, upgraded off-road suspension components, more aggressive tires, off-road driving mode (engine, transmission, throttle, and steering settings), more rugged styling, low-range gearing, and a more advanced traction management system. Folks that's not my wish list (well, actually it is), but those are words from Subaru, asking if that's what customers would like to see. Need proof? Go to the SubaruForester.org website. It's in a discussion there. So... no promises or guarantees here, and feel free to call me a rumormonger if you like; but the next few years could prove very interesting for those who actually do go off road. If this pans out, remember, you read it here first. Related Video: Image Credit: Ford Ford Jeep Subaru Crossover SUV Off-Road Vehicles open road
Former Ford president, Jaguar chairman Nick Scheele dead at 70
Sun, 20 Jul 2014We have the privilege here at Autoblog of reporting a lot of good news, but it is our duty as well to report the bad news and sad news as well. And this is one of those occasions as the automotive industry mourns the passing of one of its leaders.
Nick Scheele was born in the UK in 1944 and joined the Ford Motor Company upon graduating from the University of Durham in 1966, staying within the Blue Oval's portfolio for the entirety of his career. After moving to North America in 1978, he rose through the ranks to become president of Ford's Mexican operations in 1988. After acquiring Jaguar, Ford appointed Scheele as its chairman.
Scheele subsequently acted as chairman of all of Ford's European operations, making difficult decisions to take the division out of the red and into the black. He briefly headed up Ford's North American division before he was appointed in 2001 as president and chief operating officer of the global automaker, working under CEO Bill Ford following the departure of Jacques Nasser departure and retaining the role until his retirement in 2005.
