THIS IS AN 02 EXPLORER THAT I BOUGHT FROM A TOWNSHIP IN PA. VERY WELL MAINTAINED, 4 NEWER GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES, NEW BRAKES, FRESH SERVICE AND MORE. THE EXTERIOR IS IN VERY NICE SHAPE EXCEPT FOR ONE SMALL CRACK IN FRONT BUMPER COVER. INTERIOR IS WELL ABOVE AVERAGE. IT'S PRICED SO LOW BECAUSE IT NEEDS SOME WORK. THESE EXPLORER'S ARE NOTORIOUS FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND THIS CAR IS NOT SHIFTING WHEN IT SHOULD. IT WILL WHINE AND SHIFT THROUGH ALL THE GEARS, BUT IT TAKES LONGER. I'VE BEEN TOLD SHIFT PACK, PUMP, ETC BUT REALLY DON'T KNOW. WEATHER YOU BUY THIS ONE OR NOT, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TRANS CHECKED W/ ANYTHING OVER 100K. IF YOU WERE TO BUY THIS VEHICLE, I CAN GIVE YOU THE NUMBER TO A REPUTABLE TRANS SHOP WHERE YOU CAN BUY AN UPGRADED (FIX THE FLAWS FROM FACTORY) TRANSMISSION W/ 36,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR $1,100 SO IF YOU'RE MECHANICALLY INCLINED AND CAN SWAP IT OUT THIS MAY BE PERFECT FOR YOU. THAT'S THE BIGGEST ISSUE, THE AIRBAG LIGHT BLINKS AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP WILL WHINE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS WHEN COLD THEN STOPS AND WORKS FINE SO NOT SURE WHAT THAT'S ABOUT. THE ENGINE RUNS VERY STRONG AND SMOOTH. IF YOU NEED TO SHIP, CHECK OUT WWW.AUTOMOBILESHIPPINGQUOTES.COM FOR SOME REALLY GOOD RATES. LIKE ANY USED CAR IT WILL BE SOLD AS-IS CONDITION

1964 Ford GT40 prototype to be auctioned in April
Wed, 12 Mar 2014The Ford GT40 owns a firm spot on the list of the greatest American racecars ever made, being the first car from the United States to take an overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And now Mecum will auction what it claims is second-oldest GT40 still in existence at its Houston sale on April 12.
The story of the GT40 is fascinating. Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari in the early '60s, but Enzo refused. Ford decided if he couldn't have them, then he would beat the Prancing Horse on the track. Ford went to Carroll Shelby and asked him to spearhead the program. The early cars combined a steel monocoque chassis with Ford's 4.2-liter V8 engine pumping out around 350 horsepower. The first prototype made its public debuted on April 1, 1964, at the New York Auto Show.
Shelby kept building prototypes, including GT/104, which is for sale here. This version featured a lighter steel chassis and was raced at Le Mans in 1964. However, a fire forced it to retire. It was then repainted and had a 4.7-liter (289-cubic-inch) engine fitted. The chassis had its best finish at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometers where it finished third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther behind the wheel. Later that season, it was shipped back to Ford where it was restored and displayed at auto shows until 1971 when the automaker sold it. Since then, it has had many private owners.
2013 Ford Explorer Sport
Thu, 04 Apr 2013When one speaks of sporty and fun-to-drive utility vehicles, few would put the Ford Explorer in the same category as the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne. Yet, with just a few reservations, I'd toss the new-for-2013 Ford Explorer Sport close to that arena for consideration.
As a recap, the sportiest of Explorers is fitted with Ford's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6, making 365 horsepower and 350 pound feet of torque. Acceleration is brisk (figure about 7 seconds to 60 miles per hour), as power goes to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Contributing to its more athletic demeanor are larger front brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, chassis upgrades, quicker steering ratio and a more aggressive wheel/tire package. Cosmetically, the Sport is distinguished by its blacked-out lights, black trim and noticeable lack of chrome (with the exception of the door handles).
Ford recently handed me the keys to a Ruby Red Metallic Explorer Sport. Rather than mindlessly drive the big seven-passenger all-wheel drive hauler in soccer mom circles around Los Angeles, I loaded up my family and embarked on a long weekend road trip to Yosemite National Park.
Ford lowers MPG ratings on six vehicles
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Ford has announced that it will be lowering the fuel economy ratings on a number of its 2013 and 2014 model year vehicles after an error was discovered in the company's internal testing data. The EPA has been notified.
Worryingly for Ford, the vast majority of the vehicles affected are hybrids, including the C-Max, Fusion and MKZ in both hybrid and plug-in varieties (where applicable). Also covered as part of the rerating is the entire lineup of 2014 Fiesta engines, with the exception of the ST, including the turbocharged, three-cylinder EcoBoost.
The C-Max was originally rated at 47/47/47 mpg, but dropped to 43/45/40 last year and now to 40/42/37.
