2001 Ford Explorer Xlt Sport Utility 4-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Topeka, Kansas, United States
For Sale a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT, 5.0-liter V-8, 4-Speed Automatic 4-door AWD. We bought this vehicle less than a year ago from a private seller for $3,500.00. It only recently developed problems and have taken it to a mechanic and was told it has a warped head. It will start and run however the engine will need a head replacement. To my knowledge the drive train has no problems. The body is in very good condition and the interior is also in good shape with typical wear you would find on a 2001. This is an opportunity to get a vehicle at little more than scrap value if willing to do the engine work. Until only a few weeks ago, it was used daily to commute to work locally. There was never any indication the engine had overheated. Air bags are intact. For local pick-up only. Vehicle will run but for short distances only to avoid damage to the engine. Clear Kansas title, not a salvage vehicle. Mileage is close approximation. |

Subcompact sales slump, yet again
Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out
Wed, 11 Dec 2013With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.
2016 Ford Mustang SVT hides big power under its domed hood
Tue, 17 Jun 2014With a number of 2015 Ford Mustang versions finally available to configure, the fun of speculating about next year's high-performance 'Stang can now begin. It looks like Ford has something seriously fun planned too. One of our spy photographers just snapped some fresh pics of the 2016 Mustang SVT, which is believed to be hiding the final body shape under all of that heavy camouflage.
Ford clearly doesn't want prying eyes looking at its new pride and joy. It would be hard to put much more obfuscation on a car than this one wears - it even has mesh baffles around the exhausts to conceal how many there are and panels over the wheels to hide their design. However, the Blue Oval can't keep everything a secret. The biggest clue that something special is hidden underneath is the massive hood bulge and vent in front of it. Clearly, whatever is under there is hungry for cool air. The shape of the camo indicates that there may be fender vents on each side, and there are also obscured outlets behind the front wheels likely to pull cool air through the brakes. At the rear, the concealment does its job, making it hard to observe any big changes. The fact that Ford wants it kept such a secret might indicate something, though.
A few photos of the interior show far less cover than the outside. You can easily make out the model's 6,500 rpm redline with a possible 7,000 rpm over-rev function. The big Recaro sport seats also look quite supportive.
