Up for sale is my XP8 Explorer. This is one of the 119 total production out of the three years Saleen produced these. It is black with gray leather. It's a factory supercharged 5.0 liter or 302 with close to 300 hp. Automatic transmission, AWD, factory lowered 1", factory Borla exhaust, and Racecraft shocks. It has a little less than 85k miles on it.
It is missing two of the four original magnesium Saleen wheels as these were prone to crack. I have the two but it rides on a set of powdercoated factory Explorer wheels in black. I had the front bumper painted solid black instead of with the insert as I liked the blackout look, the factory paint was known to peel. I have the template for the number sticker that is supposed to be on it - can get it put on after the auction if buyer desires. All the other cladding is in place and in good condition, even the rare rear spoiler. It has the carbon fiber overlays on the interior pieces and the correct number plate on the center console. It has the correct carbon fiber mirror, too. The factory radio/CD was rebuilt as they are known to have display issues. I also have all four Coco mats - the driver's has a worn spot but the company Cocomats.com will still repair them. Everything works except for the antenna, motor still hums so gear must have broke. Two years ago I replaced basically the whole front suspension to tighten it up so it still drives good to be 10+ years old. The exterior paint has a few bad places where the cladding has rubbed the paint off the vehicle and some scratches but I would still say it's 6.5-7/10. Very minor surface rust underneath but in good shape as I POR15 undercoated everything. Intake has the correct original Saleen cover plate and radiator support/console both have number specific Saleen plates.
The truck has SC rebuilt paperwork (I have the before picture). It had a bent control arm and torsion bar and wheel hit fender. Definitely did not deserve rebuilt status so someone must have done some convincing. Only used Mobil 1 oil. Has new back brakes and newer front brakes. Tires are about 70% front and 40% rear, all matching. Close to 35% tint on all rear windows. I installed a factory roof rack from a newer explorer as the Saleens did not come factory with them.

We spy the Ford Mustang King Cobra early at SEMA
Tue, 04 Nov 2014As is the case with most auto shows, waiting for the reveal of hot new models is the worst part. So, while our own Drew Phillips has been wandering the halls here in Las Vegas since they unlocked the doors for SEMA 2014, we didn't expect him to come back with any big reveals until later in the day. Until this happened.
Meandering by the Ford stand, Phillips eagle-eyed a trunk lid that caught his attention. Popping out from an otherwise draped 2015 Mustang, the matte black lid clearly has the name King Cobra embossed on the rear.
That name is interesting for a few reasons: to start, Ford hasn't used the Cobra name (without "Jet" attached) since way back in 2004, so a new snake is certainly something to take note of. Second, the King Cobra name dates all the way back to the ill-remembered Mustang II, meaning there is a clear link to Blue Oval history here.
How and why Ford is rolling out Vignale in Europe
Wed, 09 Oct 2013
We know that Ford is positioning the new, upscale Vignale brand in Europe to fill a niche market of customers who want a bit more luxury, a lot more service and the same reliability and dependability that a non-Vignale Ford offers. But so far, we've been in the dark regarding how the Blue Oval will sell Vignale vehicles, how many of them will be created, and what the new sub-brand has in store for the future.
Gaetano Thorel, Ford's European marketing head, recently was interviewed by Automotive News and shared details about Ford Vignale. Thorel says, "The Vignale trim line will be priced like an ST model but attract a completely different type of customer." Specifically, he says it will attract customers in the upper 15 percent of the price band who don't want a performance-oriented ST model. He adds that Vignale cars will be about 10 percent more expensive than Titanium-trim cars. About 500 of Ford's European dealers will sell Vignale Fords, Thorel says, "in areas that make sense." The automaker expects 10 percent of its European sales to be Vignale cars, which equates to about 5 percent of its global sales. When asked if there are any other Vignale models planned beyond the Mondeo, Thorel said, "There is nothing written in stone yet."
Ford to auction Mustang Cobra Jet prototype for charity [w/video]
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Prototypes developed by major automakers typically remain in said company's custody, but every once in a while, one trickles out into private hands. And that's just what we have here. Ford is donating a one-of-a-kind factory prototype for the 2014 Mustang Cobra Jet that will be auctioned off later this month by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 mated to a T4 competition gearbox, this rare Cobra Jet prototype includes a wheelie bar, chromoly roll cage, Weld wheels, three-link rear suspension, racing brakes, 9-inch rear axle and more. It's painted in a unique satin orange with reflective gray striping scheme, bears the serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1 and is fully ready for NHRA competition on the drag strip.
To be offered with no reserve on Saturday, September 28, 2013, the Cobra Jet prototype's winning bidder will also receive tutelage at Roy Hill's Drag Racing School in Sophia, NC, along with tours of the Ford Product Development Center, Ford Racing headquarters and Ford Design Studios with Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak. Scope out the video and details below for what could be the ultimate Mustang experience for a good cause.
