1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition 4x4 Suv 5.4l Triton V8 - $1 No Reserve on 2040-cars

The Expedition has almost 138,500 highway miles as of listing date. It is currently my daily driver so miles may increase. It has been maintained very well by previous owners and myself. I brought it in for oil changes every 3k miles. Before the winter it got new ABS sensor, rear u-joint and control arms as per my mechanic's recommendation. It has the 5.4L V8 engine with an automatic transmission. It is the Eddie Bauer Edition but the originally gold trim has been painted black.

Since this Expedition has the Eddie Bauer package, it has many features including; remote entry, power windows, power locks, A/C, power seat, leather seats, cassette player, 6-disc CD-Player, and more. This expedition can seat up to 8 people comfortably, or remove the rear bench and fold down the middle row to have plenty of cargo space. It also has a trailer package installed which provides a 2" receiver and a 7 pin port for trailer lights.

The condition of the vehicle has been clearly described to the best of my ability in the "condition description" provided in this auction:
"The exterior has a few minor scratches and one small dent behind the passenger's side rear wheel. Also, the passenger's side rear center cap is missing. The gold trim, fog lights, front and rear bumpers have been painted black. The driver’s seat is torn pretty badly. There is a small plastic ring missing from the overdrive button on the gear shifter, but it still works as is. The 4x4 engages and disengages fine, however there is some noise when driving in 4x4. The "Check Suspension" light is on... The stock "subwoofer", located in the rear, is blown and will buzz on occasion. A squeaking sound will come from the front end on occasion.  Lastly, it could use an alignment because it pulls to the right the slightest bit." - The "Check Suspension" light is on only because the previous owner has converted this vehicle from the stock rear air bag suspension to aftermarket rear coil over suspension. The light is on because the plugs to the airbag suspension have been since disconnected. The rear suspension works just as it should with the newer, lower maintenance, coil over suspension.

I would strongly suggest looking at the vehicle in person before bidding because the vehicle is sold AS IS with NO WARRANTY. I reserve the right to end the auction early because the vehicle is also for sale locally. The expedition is already 16 years old so it is by no means perfect. It runs and drives strong but it will need some minor work as described above. The only reason why I am selling it is because I need a heavy duty pick up truck for work.

Sorry for the inconvenience in re-listing auction. The black rims and aggressive tires that were previously on the expedition are no longer available at the moment. Please note all the changes in the description.

Also any questions or picture requests feel free to email call or text.

Thank you

Ford Escort Concept goes back to basics

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Here's the thing about China: The folks buying cars there have a very different set of standards than shoppers in many other markets around the globe. While we all drool over hot metal with bold designs, and while we appreciate automakers going an extra step to inject even their cheapest offerings with aggressive and interesting cues, that sort of sheetmetal sex appeal doesn't always sell in the People's Republic. Case in point is Jaguar, which may be designing a more traditional-looking version of its XJ for the Chinese market, or more to the point of this story, Ford currently sells the less-exciting, last-generation Focus compact in China right alongside the new one.
So consider this new Shanghai-bound C-segment concept a preview of what's to come for that more traditional, budget-minded, less-sexy market. More proof of this pudding: Ford's even calling this concept the Escort - a nod to the Blue Oval's compact car days of yore, and a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design. "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious," Ford states. And this new Escort concept previews a possibility of providing exactly that for this rapidly expanding automotive market.
What you're looking at, then, is one of the most simple Ford designs we've seen of late, though it still incorporates all of the automaker's latest DNA. The signature hexagonal grille is front and center, flanked by attractive LED headlamps and chrome-rimmed foglamp housings. The entire car's design focuses on clean, smooth surfaces, with one strong character line flowing from front to back just below the beltline. We will say that the car looks decidedly more premium from the rear view, where narrow, horizontal taillamps with an LED accent give the car added visual width. Bland as it may be, it's a handsome little concept, though fear what would likely happen if all of the conceptual details get dumbed down for a production model.

Major Alexa deal will bring Amazon services into more cars

Wed, Jan 9 2019

Amazon and its personal assistance service Alexa are partnering with HERE Technologies to create a new connected mobility service powerhouse. Alexa will integrate with HERE's navigation and location services to offer what the two companies are calling a "true voice-first-navigation experience." Alexa will come pre-integrated with HERE navigation on-demand, which the automakers can then enable, which should help cut down on development time. One of the biggest features from this partnership is how directions could be offered and delivered using HERE's Open Location Platform (OLP). Currently, the OLP uses data from several car manufacturers to provide insights into real-time location and traffic. But on Alexa, this could be used to provide directional context. For example, Alexa could say, "Turn right after [such-and-such a building]" rather than just, "Turn right." Amazon has been testing the automotive waters throughout the past decade. Its home-based Alexa-enabled devices are already offered with connections to several manufacturers. To various degrees of integration, it can already pair with Ford, Genesis, Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai and BMW vehicles. At the end of 2018, Amazon took things a step further when it introduced the Echo Auto, a Bluetooth-connected Alexa assistant device that can be physically kept in a car. Currently only available by invitation (its production and distribution have been delayed), the $25 device is essentially a voice service that works together with smartphones and connects to a car's speakers. Users can command it to do a variety of things, including playing music, setting navigation, opening the garage door, finding local stores, making calls, setting reminders, and thousands of other "skills." According to The Verge, nearly 1 million people have already ordered the device. Some (well, probably few) may know HERE Technologies from its maps on Windows Phones. We all know how that turned out, though. Today, HERE has expanded into a multi-function suite that is available in multiple mediums, including many automotive applications. HERE Automotive's connected vehicle services include real-time traffic, parking, weather, fuel prices, hazard warnings, traffic sign integration, and even EV charging stations. These all incorporate and extend the use of HERE's location and tracking programming. HERE is already partnered with BMW, Audi, Daimler, Intel, Mobileye, NVIDIA, and has investments from Bosch, Continental and Pioneer.

Buyers ditching expensive European sedans to buy expensive American trucks

Mon, Feb 19 2018

The New York Times ended the automotive week with a story that adds numbers and context to a range of other stories, from the crossover craze to the increasing median price of a new car to ever more grandiose pickup trucks. The NYT piece reveals that the shift to larger vehicles isn't merely about the average U.S. buyer swapping the midsize sedan for a Ford Edge. Luxury buyers are migrating from plush sedans to plush SUVs and trucks that creep close to six-figure prices, and the Detroit Three are running Treasury presses because of it. From 2013 to 2017, the truck category — everything from pickups to minivans — climbed from 30 percent of the market to 41 percent. In January of this year, trucks claimed 66 percent of new vehicle sales. At the milk-and-honey end of profits, GMC alone accounted for 11.3 percent of all vehicle sales over $60,000, not just trucks. That puts the luxury truck maker behind Mercedes-Benz and Ford, The Blue Oval's feasting on Lariat, King Ranch and Raptor versions of the F-150, which make up more than half of that pickup's sales, putting it ahead of Chevrolet, Porsche and Lexus on the high-dollar sales list. The average transaction price of a GMC in Denali trim last year was $56,000; it's easy to see why, when one dealer told the NYT he just swapped a 2012 BMW 550i for a $71,000 GMC Sierra Denali. That truck starts at $52,900. The NYT started its story with a buyer who took home a Ford Raptor instead of an Audi A6, and optioned that $50,020 Ford Raptor close to $80,000. Over at Lincoln, the new $72,055 Navigator — the one so popular that Ford will increase production — crossed hands for an average sale price of $77,000 in January. And a Jeep dealer told the NYT that the two $93,000 Trackhawks he had on his lot "won't be here more than a few weeks." While trucks head up in sales volume and price, cars are headed so viciously in the opposite direction that "the Detroit Three and even some foreign manufacturers acknowledge they are now losing money on many of the cars they sell." So ... get ready for a lot more crossovers and trucks. Related Video: Find out what vehicle is right for you. Give our Car Finder tool a try.
