Ultimate Towing And Family Trip Excursion - Many Add-ons on 2040-cars
Hopkins, Minnesota, United States
2005 Excursion Eddie Bauer 6.0 Diesel White with low mileage and $12,000 in upgrades.
This Excursion was ordered by the owner of a dealership in North Dakota as one of the last Ford Excursions off the line before they stopped making them (they dont make them any newer than this vehicle). He used it sparingly for several years and I purchased it from him in 2010 and have taken it on several trips towing our camper. Other than those trips I have not really towed much with it. It didnt even go into service until 2007 and was under warranty when I purchased it. I am the first owner from the dealership. Since 2010 then I have taken extremely good care of the vehicle and upgraded the parts of the vehicle that were lacking. This is truly how the vehicle should have come from the factory as Stock. It has been setup to be the ultimate Excursion Tow Vehicle and family trip vehicle. This is a one of a kind vehicle that is perfect for the family that wants to tow a camper or boat in a rock solid towing platform plus all the comforts of a luxury vehicle. 2005 Excursion Diesels in great condition and under 100k miles (which is really just getting the engine broken in) are going for around 25-30k. Consider that in addition to belonging to this group I have also added the following upgrades which have cost over 12k and at the same time I have left the engine stock never having modified it in any way - so no worries that it was abused. They do not make these vehicles anymore and there is really nothing like it - I assume if you are viewing this you already know this fact. Some key facts: 2005 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer Towing Package 4x4 Heated Mirrors Entertainment Package Oxford White with Medium Parchment Leather Interior Upgrades: Set of 5 (full size spare) 285/75 R16 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Pro Grade (these are stiff sidewalls and the absolute best for towing) V/B suspension upgrade which gives it about a 2 inch lift. Rear leaf springs use a F350 leaf on the bottom of the stack which gives the back about a half inch more but is perfect for towing heavy loads. High output alternator Rancho RS 9000xl adjustable shocks Helwig Sway Bar Bullet Proof Diesel upgrade FICM RedHead Steering gear (to remove the play in the Ford Truck Steering). New soundsystem with Kenwood double din stereo and navigation. new speakers and sub. $1000 of soundproofing and a backup camera. America was the unexpected theme at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show thanks to Trump
Wed, Jan 11 2017President-elect Donald Trump was not in attendance at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but it sure seemed like he was the target audience for many of the press conferences and announcements surrounding the event. Several manufacturers chose to play up existing and future commitments to the US in general and American jobs specifically in their presentations to the press, and we're pretty sure that has everything to do with Trump's recent targeting of automakers on Twitter. To us, it seemed automakers were going on the offensive to try and preempt any future tweet-shaming for investing in auto manufacturing anywhere but the US. The pro-America sentiment started the week prior to the auto show, with Ford announcing that it would build several future electrified vehicles at its Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan and also cancel a $1.6 billion factory planned for Mexico. Ford announced the two items on the same day, but the reality is that they likely have no relation to each other; the Mexican plant is being skipped because the company doesn't need the extra capacity to build the Ford Focus right now. Trump was still happy to share the news on Twitter. Then, on Sunday, FCA announced it would invest $1 billion in manufacturing plants in Ohio and Michigan to produce the new Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Wrangler-based pickup. It's not as though those potential new jobs were on their way out of the US, necessarily, but FCA took the opportunity to mention that plant upgrades at the Warren Truck Plant would allow the company to build Ram heavy duty trucks, which are currently assembled in Mexico, there. CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that Trump and his proposed tariffs had nothing to do with the decision. We certainly believe that, but we also have to believe that the timing of the release, positive outcome for America, and zero gain for Mexico were all orchestrated. Again, Trump sent out a victory tweet as if this had been his doing. Ford then used its press conference at the show on Monday to reiterate the plans for Flat Rock and also confirm that the Ford Bronco and Ranger nameplates will be returning to the US market, and that both will be built at a plant in Michigan. Announcements of manufacturing locations are usually aimed at the UAW, which certainly has a stake in these things, but again this one was broadcast to the auto show crowd in general.
Lincoln Continental to end after one-and-done generation?
Thu, Mar 15 2018After only 18 months on sale, the vultures of rumor have begun circling above the Lincoln Continental. Ford Authority says "sources intricately familiar with Ford Motor Company's future product plans" for the domestic luxury brand say the Continental won't get another chance at life after this generation. Those sources didn't detail Ford's reasons for dispatching the executioner on another sad task, but if this is true, even the reasons we can only guess make enough sense to justify the move. The Continental launched into a crossover mania still mushrooming in strength like some Marvel villain, the equivalent of a new dinosaur hatching a few months before the Chicxulub Impact Event. In 18 months, the Continental sold 18,846 units, 12,012 of those sales happening in 2017. In the U.S. this year, sales amounted to 1,573 units through February, about 25 percent down on the annualized monthly rate. It could be worse: The Lexus GS has found 1,009 U.S. buyers so far this year, the Acura RLX, 285. Conversely, the Cadillac XTS — yes, a fleet darling — secured 3,163 sales in the same period. And the German kingpins live in another dimension, with BMW scooting 5,641 5 Series models off dealer lots, and the Mercedes E-Class boasting 8,411 sales of all three variants. Even the much more expensive and much more profitable Lincoln Navigator rang up 2,351 sales in the first 60 days of 2018. That's disheartening reading, especially after Ford reportedly spent more than $1 billion to bring the Continental to market. Sedan segment woes look to have killed the Continental's platform siblings, too, making the Lincoln's demise simply part of the cull. The CD4 architecture also underpins the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. Ford canceled the Fusion redesign and won't commit to making either vehicle after 2020. Lincoln's passenger car sales declined more than 30 percent last month; meanwhile, Lincoln needs to spend its money on the crossovers that are selling, and investment in the coming three-row Aviator that will replace the MKT. Ford has a CD6 platform in development that suits front-, rear-, and all-wheel-drive vehicles. Under previous CEO Mark Fields, a new Fusion, Mustang, and MKZ would ride on the CD6, as well as the new Explorer and a Lincoln brother. Those plans left with the previous administration, and company sources told both Ford Authority and The Truth About Cars not to expect a Continental revival on that architecture. Related Video:
