THIS VEHICLE IS LOCATED IN BINGHAMTON NEW YORK 13901

I purchased this vehicle from a New Jersey family in October of 2012 with 152,221 miles on it and loved it so much that I purchased a second Excursion V10 2004 Eddie Bauer from a Philadelphia Ford dealer with 48,600 miles on it in mint condition for 22K so am offering this 2003 Excursion for sale.

The drive train is strong and the SUV is very powerful.  It has excellent tires and the brake pedal is right at the top. It has new breaks, rotors and is in overall excellent condition. There are no squeaks or rattles and you know when you're driving this vehicle on the highway you are completely safe and in command of your surroundings.

I am posting photos of when I purchased the vehicle as well as recent photos to show you the differences and changes I made to the vehicle such as HID head lights, 5 bumper mounted Halogen highway lights and paddle mirrors. I will also be giving the new owner the original tow mirrors that came with this vehicle. I will post the newer photos starting Sunday February 2nd, 2014 after 12 noon.

The vehicle also comes with an Audiovox GPS system, however, you will have to purchase the correct CD for the region you reside in and it must be for the Excursion.

Ford made a big mistake when it discontinued this SUV body on a 3/4 ton truck chassis under government preasure as the newer replacement Expidition is built on a 1/2 ton chassis. This vehicle is in so much demand that people are custom making these vehicles by clipping them with late model salvage Ford Super Duty pick-up trucks to make 2011 to 2013 custom Excursions at around $65,000.00 with an average of 65,000 miles.  Just Google 2011 - 13 Excursion and you may find some for sale.

The Ford Excursion is a heavy dutyfull size sport utility vehicle produced by the Ford Motor Company from 2000 through 2005 for the North American market and through 2006 for Mexico. Based on the heavy-duty, full-size Super Duty line of trucks. The Excursion was Ford's largest SUV in its lineup, and the largest and heaviest on the North American market during the tenure of its production. It competed mainly against the lighter duty Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL 1500 and 2500 models.

The Excursion was introduced in 1999 as a 2000 model-year vehicle. It was described as the "biggest sport utility on the planet."[3] Sales were initially good, peaking in the 2000 model year with over 50,000 sales. As gasoline prices rose, sales declined.[4] Industry insiders expected Ford to stop producing the Excursion, but sales continued through the 2005 model year. 2005 model grills and bumpers were changed to match the newer styling of the Super Duty trucks.

The last Excursion was produced on September 30, 2005, at Ford's Louisville plant, although the last Excursions were sold as 2006 models for the Mexican market. Production of the Excursion was canceled to focus on Super Duty pickup trucks.[5]

An extended-length Expedition half-ton, named the Expedition EL (Max in Canada and Mexico) replaced the Excursion in the company's lineup for the 2007 model year.

Designed for buyers with super-sized passenger, interior cargo and towing needs, the Excursion design was based on the 1999 F250 Super Duty line of pickup trucks. It shares the front frame, front and rear suspension, drivetrain, steering and styling with the F250. The length, width, track and wheelbase are the same as the standard cab 8 feet bed Styleside pickup models and has similar maneuverability. It is essentially a F250 modified into a SUV.[6]

Engines included the standard gasoline Triton 5.4 L V8, as well as the optional gasoline Triton 6.8 L V10, and the Power Stroke 7.3 L V8diesel engine. The 2003 models replaced the 7.3 L International diesel with a more powerful 6.0 L International diesel.

A 4-speed 4R100 automatic transmission was the standard transmission for all years of gas engines and the 7.3 diesels. Later vehicles equipped with the 6.0 liter diesel came with a 5 speed Torqshift transmission. [7]

The 5.4 L Triton V8 was rated at 255 hp (190 kW; 259 PS) and 350 lb·ft (475 N·m). The 6.8 L Triton V10 produced 310 hp (231 kW; 314 PS) and 425 lb·ft (576 N·m). The 6.0 L Powerstroke Diesel was rated at 350 hp (261 kW; 355 PS) and 560 lb·ft (759 N·m). In mid 2004, due to multiple 6.0 engines having injector failures, Ford down-tuned all 6.0 engines to 325 hp (242 kW; 330 PS). The rear axle for all Excursions was a Sterling 10.5 axle. The four wheel drive models were equipped with a NV273 transfer case and Dana 50 front axle.

Built using the same platform and powertrain as the Super Duty (a line of trucks over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg) GVWR), the Excursion received complaints and criticism over its fuel economy as a passenger vehicle, while Super Duty line-up did not. [8]

The Excursion was designed to be classified as a heavy-duty vehicle, as for commercial or rural use, with a GVWR 8,900 lb (4,000 kg) - gasoline V10 engine and 9,200 lb (4,200 kg) - any diesel engine which exempted the vehicle from CAFE fuel economy regulations and quoting United States Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) fuel economy estimates.[9]

The Excursion was modified to include an under-bumper blocker beam device first developed by the French transportation ministry in 1971.[10] This was because initial crash testing resulted in the Excursion severely over-riding a Ford Taurus in a head-on collision. In the test, the Excursion's tire ended in the Taurus's windshield, reducing the chance of survival for the Taurus driver.[10]

The truck uses code U4 in the 5th and 6th positions of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

In 2003 the Excursion saw the availability of an upmarket Eddie Bauer trim line.

Riding along in Ford's bonkers Fiesta ST Global RallyCross car [w/video]

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

The Mountune-worked Fiesta ST GRC does 0-to-60 mph in 1.9 seconds.
On any given day, and every single weekend, there's at least one parking in the country invaded by manufacturer and team trucks. The be-chromed beasts and their 53-foot trailers are slotted into rows, men and women decorate the lot with orange cones to mark the invisible tracery of a temporary track, cars get unloaded, crews fret over them. The ritual can be as beautiful as the sunrise to those with enthusiast hearts, but it's just as common.

Shelby Mustang stars with Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez in Getaway movie

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

Car movies. We keep watching them, they keep making them. Despite Fast & Furious 6 still blowing up the box office (No. 1 in theaters for the second straight week) and production on Transformers 4 being well underway (check out the Bugatti Veyron and Corvette Stingray as new cast members), there's still room on the marquee for more car movies. Next one up is an Ethan Hawke joint called Getaway, which prominently co-stars a Ford Shelby GT500. The first trailer for Getaway, which opens in theaters on August 30, was released yesterday and can be watched below.
The movie's plot centers around Hawke's character, former race car driver Brent Magna, who must somehow use this car, what appears to be a generation-old Shelby GT500 Super Snake he "commandeered," to save his wife. The movie's third co-star is Selena Gomez, whose character we're told is the owner of said Shelby. A 20-year-old having a car like this seems a bit far-fetched - especially in Europe - and on paper, this plot looks like it cribs liberally from Charlie Sheen's 1994 The Chase. But all we've got to go on is a brief plot description and the trailer below, so we'll withhold judgment until the studio firmly has our ticket money in its grasp.
The Shelby GT500 is, of course, no stranger to acting. Before this jump to celluloid, the most fearsome of all Mustang models starred in the return of Knight Rider to television on NBC back in 2008. That gig didn't pan out for the car, the show lasting only one season and 17 episodes. In fact, with its casting in Getaway, the Shelby GT500 is one of the few actors who escaped that debacle with a future in show biz.

Weekly Recap: Ford GT inspires guitar, foosball table, sailboat

Sat, Apr 18 2015

Ford design vice president Moray Callum had just wrapped up a briefing on the interior of the Ford GT last month, but something seemed out of place. He grinned and pointed behind him, "You might be wondering why I have a boat behind me," he said mischievously. It was there because Ford set its designers on a mission to stretch and showcase their talents: design non-automotive objects inspired by the interior of the GT supercar. Callum received quite a response, too. His team produced a guitar, a foosball table (yeah bro!), a racing sailboat, a Wi-Fi speaker and some furniture. As the veteran design chief explained, "It's a really great exercise both to highlight our designers' talents, but also to really see how our design philosophy can work and how you can use it and get a common response back from a worldwide design team." Guitar View 25 Photos The objects have been on display this week at the Salone del Mobile furniture and fashion design fair in Milan, Italy, where Ford has had a presence for three years. There's also a light exhibition that apparently was inspired by the GT, as well. While this might seem a little far-fetched for the automaker, Ford said exhibitions like the Salone del Mobile give its designers another way to be creative and ultimately produce striking interior style. Ford wants this to be a differentiator, as research shows consumers are placing emphasis on the layout and features inside when they're making a decision about buying a new car. It's a little light hearted – but it's also potentially big business. Other News & Notes Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for Buick General Motors product chief Mark Reuss said the Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for a large Buick, though "not yet," Automotive News reported. The underpinnings can accommodate rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and would give Buick the large flagship it lacks. The report jibes with comments Reuss made at a roundtable with Autoblog and other reporters at the New York Auto Show. When asked if Buick had space for a large car on the CT6 chassis, he replied, "Yeah, I think it does. Yeah, I think we do." Buick has revamped its lineup in recent years with attractive crossovers and small and midsize sedans, but hasn't added the proverbial flagship that's yearned for by enthusiasts. Buick surprised industry observers with the stylish Avenir concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year that raised the possibility of a halo sedan.
