This is a high mileage Pennsylvania vehicle with all the associated rust you would expect. I would fix the rust (I was quoted $3,000) if I could still get the waste vegetable oil to run it, but I have run into supply problems. If I could drive it on the WVO a repair like that could effectively be paid for in a year. Mechanically it is sound. The 7.3 Powerstroke diesel is a great engine, and it starts and runs great, has enough power to pull the largest trailer with its class 3 hitch.

The turbocharger and waste gate was replaced shortly after I bought it in Florida in 2008 and brought it back to PA. I just put new brake calipers, rotors and pads on the rear for June inspection. The alternator was replaced 3 months ago, and the starter last year. The transmission was rebuilt last summer by Vic's Transmissions in Elysburg, PA and has a three year warranty. The first year is 100% parts & labor and ends on 8/16/2014. The second year is 70% parts & labor and ends on 8/16/2015. The third year is 50% parts & labor and ends on 8/16/2016. The air conditioning was recharged a month ago, and blows cold. I replaced the electric fuel pump last week and both the Fleetguard filter and the stock fuel filter are new. New Pennsylvania state inspection expires June 2015.

The waste oil conversion was done by Full Circle Fuels in Oberlin, OH and has been trouble free with proper maintenance. This conversion features a custom diesel tank that nestles within the frame rails and preserves ground clearance. The stock tank is used for vegetable oil and has a heated pickup tube, piped to the switching valve and the Fleetguard fuel filter pictured with a heating blanket. In the winter I also use an insulated wrap over the heating blanket for added insurance. There are two fuel filler caps, a spin-on for the diesel and the factory cap for WVO. It's not necessary to run it on WVO, you can simply buy the diesel fuel, and drive it like normal. But what's the fun of that?

The 4WD works, tires have good tread, headlights were replaced with high-output halogen bulbs last winter. Like I said, there is rust, mainly the rocker panels. But it's been a good truck and has some good miles in it yet for the right buyer. Please ask any questions that aren't clear, and I will be happy to send additional photos on request.

I require a $1,000 deposit at close of auction by PayPal only. The balance is due on pick-up within 10 days and must be cash, money order or cashier's check. There is a notary here in my town that will finalize everything. If you aren't satisfied with the truck at time of pick-up, a full refund of your deposit will be given. Delivery is available, I will drive it to you within a reasonable distance for the cost of the fuel.

AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics

Transit Courier completes Ford's new commercial van line, will we get it?

Sat, 13 Apr 2013

This week Ford rolled out the 2014 Transit Courier, the fourth addition to its Transit range. Ford says its the first time for the nameplate in the compact van segment.
"Ford has now completely transformed its commercial vehicle line-up, with four all-new, class-leading Transits for European customers," said Barb Samardzich, vice president of product development for Ford Europe. "With the all-new Transit range, we expect sales to grow to 400,000 units per year by 2016, well over 50 percent more than we sell today."
When the Courier goes on sale in the Spring of 2014, it will offer more than 1,400 pounds of payload capacity, multiple mounting points for racks or other framework and a rear cargo area that can carry items 5.3 feet-long. An optional folding passenger seat boosts the cargo length to 8.5 feet.

Ford Australia debuts Ranger-based Everest SUV concept

Tue, 13 Aug 2013

Ford has been in hot water in Australia ever since it announced plans to end local production of the Falcon and Territory SUV. Besides canceling a model that is to Oz what the Mustang is to America, the end of production means more than a few folks will be out of work.
Keen to prove that it has a plan for the market, Ford has unveiled the Aussie-penned Everest Concept, a rough-and-tumble, seven-seat SUV. While not a direct replacement for the aging Territory (that role will eventually be filled by either the Edge or Flex, according to Car Advice) it's an indication from Ford's brass that the Blue Oval is still committed to Australia.
To prove that fact, Alan Mullaly, Mark Fields, Jim Farley and regional execs descended on Sydney for the debut of the new concept. Ford's Australian president and CEO, Bob Graziano, said of the Everest, "Our customers, our employees and Australia can be assured that we're connected to the nation and committed to our customers through terrific products with class-leading technologies."
