Would Be Great For Lawn Or Pool Service, Painter, Handyman, Swap Meet Van, Etc. on 2040-cars
Riverside, California, United States
Nobody will accuse you of driving around in the lap of luxury in this van, but it's a very well running vehicle. It's never been in an accident as far as I know. Would work great as a work vehicle for a handyman, small package delivery, painter or any other craftsman. Would be great to use for a lawn or pool service business because you would be able to lock up all your tools and supplies, as opposed to leaving them in the back of a pick-up. It would also work very well for someone with a swap meet business. That's what I originally bought it for. The tires are virtually new and cost $478.00 when I purchased them, with less than 3,000 miles on 70,000 mile Hanooks. It's been sitting all but idle for around a year, but it starts first time, every time. Now, you can see by the pictures it's not in the best of shape cosmetically, but it runs very well. The driver's seat is ripped. Neither the AC or heater work (leak in the heater coil, which was just bypassed when it occurred). It has electric windows, but the drivers side is stripped although it will go up and down. The passenger side used to work but doesn't now. It's probably just a break in the wiring going to the door. Electric door locks, which do work. The AM/FM radio works, but only one speaker does. The conduit you see stored under the wood platform in the back is not included, but you can take the platform or leave it, it's up to you. It works good to store things underneath whatever else you may be carrying on top, and still be able to access what's underneath without removing what's on top. Ford announces free brake pad offer if customers stop by dealers
Mon, 04 Aug 2014These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers.
"We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts.
Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1.
Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.
F-150 just the start of Ford's aluminum plans
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Not only have we been told that the 2015 Ford F-150 is tougher, more durable and up to 700 pounds lighter than the current truck, Ford COO Mark Fields said it's also "CAFE-positive." That means, for the first time in the history of corporate average fuel economy standards, the F-150 would be a positive contributor on Ford's CAFE balance sheet instead of being a vehicle it needs to counterbalance with frugal offerings.
Fields' comments made at the Detroit Auto Show were among quotes from other Ford execs that confirmed the carmaker will be using aluminum for more of its vehicles. CEO Alan Mulally said it would "proliferate across our lineup," with speculation being that we'll see it applied to crossover and sport utility models first, since they'll benefit the most. Even gaining the massive scale of using aluminum on the world's best selling vehicle for its first effort - on average, the company sells two times as many F-150s in a single day as Land Rover sells of its aluminum Range Rover in a month - Ford will be looking to further spread the cost of its five-year development investment in aluminum technology. And that should mean better handling and fuel economy for those of us who don't need to wear hardhats at the office.
