Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
***Inspections are more than welcome by you or the most skeptical mechanic, on anything im selling. Call anytime 303-961-3506. This rig will exceed anyone's expectations for the money. The AC/Heat in rear is more than enough for the 6'6"tall X 7'6"wide X 11'6" long living quarters & is a commercial grade Duo-Therm unit powered by compressor on engine. The MPG on recent 600 mile trip to Steamboat was 12-15MPG in the mountain roads & passes, So on the freeway id safely assume 15 all day. 303-961-3506 Anytime.*** 1989 one ton E350 4X4 Expedition Van, dealer converted to 4X4 when ordered new. Box cube by Timpte, Converted by Trans-Axle of Colorado with Dana 60 front axle and leaf springs. Transfer case to transmission adapter, transmission is C6. Has Hi and Low range 4x4 and 2wd. Front hubs, rear posi dually with 4.10 ratio. Box is insulated with windows and generator box built in-no generator included. Floor is hardwood and has pass through door to cab. 5.8 liter (351) with EFI, starts instantly and runs great. Phenomenal truck for the money, runs like new! Gets tons of looks, thumbs up, & pictures taken constantly. Wont last as my reserve is less than a nice used pick up. Ive had multiple offers for less than 15K so dont ask if ill take a crazy cash offer, You and i both know what we have here & im not desperate. I have owned Defender, Unimog, Sportsmobile, Land Cruiser, & Jeeps...This thing is very capable off road & not wierd sounds, loose bolts, wiggles, Etc. Travels great at 75MPH all day. Ive sadly seen Sportsmobiles go for 70K & this thing will out do it NO problem for less than 1/4 the price. DANA60,WARN HUBS, WARN 8500 WINCH. We purchased this van from a local utility company in 2008 with 12,000 miles on it. The van was used as a splice laboratory in bad weather only. We replaced only the tires and used it as a mobile lab to work on small drill rigs in the Colorado mountains. The majority of the time being parked and running off a potable generator. We used it on several jobs and it has been parked ever since. Started and moved once a month to rotate tires and keep fluids moving. Runs excellent and tires are still perfect. It has 17,000 miles on it and looks like it. Not a bit of rust or body damage. Interior is excellent, and In beautiful condition for a 1989. I would not hesitate to drive cross country as is. Has a rooftop air conditioner with engine mounted compressor, which works great. It has a new flashing strobe on the roof & outside floods work too, Everything works on this van! Has on-board air compressor with side valves. We started to do a camper conversion on it this year & spent a considerable amount of time & money doing so. Only thing left is your layout for the camper and your done. It would make a great camper conversion over the winter, but can also easily go back to being a poor weather drill rig & splicing lab. FYI: This rig DID sell last month for $17,500 to a guy in Alaska for those whom are asking. He gave a $500.00 deposit & had issues with his bank at the last minute. He knowingly forfeited his deposit...So please make sure you have the funds before you commit to buy this one of a kind Overland vehicle. |

James May picks 13 most significant cars ever for London Classic Car Show
Fri, Jan 2 2015James May tends to be the most pragmatic of the Top Gear UK hosting crew. Jeremy Clarkson obviously likes his vehicles loud, brash and preferably British, and Richard Hammond seems to have a thing for American muscle. May appears to find joy just in the mechanical nature of things, whether high performance or simply made for getting around. He's getting a chance to put that appreciation on display by curating a 13-car collection at the London Classic Car Show called The Cars That Changed The World. May actually wants to provoke debate from visitors about the exhibit and is separating his choices into two categories: The Halls of Obviousness and The Chambers of Bloody-mindedness. The first bunch includes the usual important vehicles you expect to see, but the other group has the really interesting picks. As May explains these selections in the event announcement, "I believe they are just as significant historically but they've simply been forgotten or misunderstood." The obvious choices are: 1886 Benz Motorwagen 1908 Ford Model T 1938 Volkswagen Beetle 1959 Austin Mini 1964 Ford Mustang 1997 Toyota Prius And the more eccentric ones are: 1901 Waverley Electric 1906 Cadillac Model K 1933 Standard Superior 1972 Honda Civic 1980 Lada Riva 2009 Bruno ExoMars Rover If you notice, there are only 12 vehicles listed above. That's because the final one is being kept secret for show attendees, but May considers it the most significant car ever made. The London Classic Car Show runs at the ExCeL in London's Docklands from January 8-11, 2015. In addition to May's exhibit and the other vehicles there, Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey is also curating a display from his own collection. May is hoping to spur conversations with his choices. Let us know in Comments if you notice any glaring omissions that should be among the 13. Read the full announcement below, along with a brief explanation for each choice from May. GET READY FOR A CLASSIC ARGUMENT 30/12/14 James May has chosen the 13 most significant cars of all time for The London Classic Car Show... but is he right? It's bold, controversial and bound to cause arguments... and that's just the way BBC Top Gear's James May wants it. May has stuck his neck on the line and has chosen what he regards are the 13 most influential cars of all time. The result is The Cars That Changed The World and it's one of the star exhibits at the London Classic Car Show taking place at ExCeL in London's Docklands from 8-11 January 2015.
Ford predicts it will finish 2013 as top-selling US brand
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Ford is ready to call the ball on its 2013 sales totals, predicting a first-place finish for units sold in the US for a single brand. The company anticipates selling more than 2.4 million vehicles when all vehicle sales over the last 12 months have been tallied, repeating the victory it trumpeted over Toyota last year.
According to Ford's accounting, it sold 329,677 more vehicles than did Toyota in 2012. This year, the Blue Oval expects that margin to grow; through the end of November, Ford says it has outsold Toyota by 396,041 units.
Retail sales of Ford products are projected to exceed 1.7 million units for 2013 (the best retail result in 6 years for the company), with passenger cars accounting for 600k of that total. The redesigned Fusion is expected to crest the 290k mark, and the Fiesta is said to be ready to hit a model-record of 70k-plus. Meanwhile, utility vehicles and trucks are still paying a lot of bills in Dearborn, with the new Escape racking up an expected 300k sales and F-Series trucks chugging along at 688,810 units sold thru November.
Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod
Tue, 21 Oct 2014Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.
