Up for auction: A Ford E450 Bus. I purchased this bus recently to convert into a camper. I ran into some problems. While driving I experienced a loss of power. Bus still move engine still ran just didn't have too much pickup. I parked the bus and tried to take a look at it myself. I am fairly handy with gas engines, but diesel is a mystery to me. I do not have a lot of money to spend getting the bus diagnosed by a diesel mechanic, and the bus is parked about an hour from my home.I am not an auto mechanic, but from the research I have done it looks like it might be the injectors. I had a diesel mechanic check it the day before I bought it, and he said everything was fine, so it might be something minor. Bottom line I don't have the time or money to mess with it. So, my loss your gain. Bus is parked in Coopersburg, PA. Everything else on the bus works fine. Heating and air conditioning work well. Bus starts up, but doesn't go very fast.. The exterior is in fair condition. Please refer to the pictures. Interior is nice and all seats are present and in decent shape. The wheelchair lift works perfectly (they go for around $1000) . All glass is in good condition. Bus body is fiberglass so there is no rust or warping. Item is for local pickup only. I will not ship. No exceptions. Bus is parked in Coopersburg, PA. $500 deposit via paypal within 24 hours of auction end. Balance in cash. I can meet in Coopersburg to drop off the keys. If you have any questions please ask before you bid. I will answer them to the best of my ability. Keep in mind I am not a mechanic. Bus is sold As is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied.

Court puts kibosh on apartheid lawsuit against Ford, Daimler
Thu, 22 Aug 2013Ford and Daimler have scored a major victory in a long-running lawsuit filed in US federal court by unnamed South African nationals. The suit alleges that both manufacturers and their subsidiaries sold their vehicles to the South African military, despite knowing that they'd be involved in violently putting down anti-apartheid protesters.
According to Reuters, South African plaintiffs filed the case under the 223-year-old Alien Torts Statute, a law which allows foreign nationals to file charges in US courts for perceived breaches of what was originally international law, but now more closely relates to violations of human rights.
And while the case - which also involves computer manufacturer IBM - has been tied up in federal courts for years, a recent case from the Supreme Court struck down a similar suit against Royal Dutch Petroleum (Shell), arguing that the ATS doesn't apply to corporations or to conduct if it occurred outside the US. In short, the law applies to individuals, but not corporations like Ford or Daimler. A US appeals court ruled that the conditions apply in this case, potentially drawing this long-running saga to a close, as the defendants will now be allowed to request that the case be dismissed in district court.
American automakers fall in latest Fortune 500 rankings
Fri, 10 May 2013Not that it means anything beyond bragging rights, but if you're fixated on the positions of domestic automakers on the annual Fortune 500 list, both General Motors and Ford are still on it but they've slipped a couple of notches. The list ranks American companies and they're ordered solely by revenue. GM, fifth last year, came in seventh, while Ford fell from ninth to tenth even though both companies saw small gains in annual revenue.
GM's $152.3 billion in revenue was less than a third of that of the first company on the list: Wal-Mart, which regained the title from Exxon Mobil. Berkshire Hathaway and Apple are the firms that moved GM down. Ford, displaced by energy company Valero, had $134.3 billion in revenue.
On a side note, profitability isn't a factor, but both GM and Ford were down in this year's list compared to last year's: GM declined from $9.2 billion to $6.2 billion, Ford fell from $20.2 billion to $5.6 billion. If profits were included, Exxon Mobil would probably still be king: although the energy company made almost $20 billion less in revenue than Wal-Mart's $469.2 billion, it posted $44.9 billion in profit compared to Wal-Mart's $17 billion.
Ford looks to space robots to improve car-to-car communications [w/video]
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Ford has partnered with St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for three years to research various kinds of connected vehicle communications. The university tie-up is part of its study of space robots, NASA systems created to enable space-to-Earth communication, and the university's own development of systems that enable communication between the International Space State and Earth.
The objective is for Ford to engineer layers of robust networks and redundancy systems that will allow your car to speak to other cars, to emergency vehicles, to infrastructure like traffic lights and buildings, and to the cloud. Benefits would come in just about every area of transit, from avoiding accidents, to getting medical workers to an accident more quickly, to improving the flow of traffic during rush hour.
Check out the press release below for details on what Ford wants to learn from the JUSTIN Humanoid and NASA Robonaut R2, and a video of technical leader Oleg Gusikhin discussing his interest in the project.
