2002 Ford E150 Traveler Edition on 2040-cars
Torrington, Connecticut, United States
2002 Ford E150 Traveler Edition (like the earlier Chateau models)
193,xxx miles 5.4L Triton V8 Leather seating for seven (2 front row bucket seats, 2 second row bucket seats, 3 third row bench seat) VCR and flip down LCD monitors (factory setup not aftermarket) $2500 Here's the deal with the van. I like to buy cars, selling not so much. It's fun to have a different car often and hunt a for a deal. I bought this vehicle on eBay last year. I paid $3050 for it November 2013. Buying cars this way means I almost never have any service records or history to them. This van is no exception. From the basic looks of it it has been maintained, interior and exterior very clean for the age and mileage of the vehicle. Does has some rust on some lower points as noted in the pictures, certainly not as bad as some I have seen or even owned. (Had a 1995 E350) All I can do is show you pictures of the van and tell you about my time with it. I've driven it around 3000 miles (it's a second vehicle), towed 1500 pounds of scrap metal, and camped in for a couple nights. When you take out the rear bench I have a perfect sized mattress that fits in there. It makes camping out very comfortable. I've changed the oil, replaced the fuel filter, and replaced the cylinder five ignition coil (had a slight hesitation). That's all I've needed to do for maintenance in the time I've had it. Drives great, shifts great. So as with any vehicle that's 12 years old it's got some quirks. 1. Wheel weights have come off the right front wheel, no problem around town but around 70+mph on the highway you get a little shake. 2. Rear door handle is missing one nut/bolt combo, still works fine. 3. Side door doesn't always unlock with the power locks, something is rattling in the door, this was like it when I bought the van. 4. Outside temp / compass display (overhead) is not working. The rest is evident with the pictures, a couple dents in the rear bumper, the small sections of rust, and the tiny split in the driver's side front seat. |

Enterprise working with renter's insurance to cover $47k Mustang stolen from its lot
Sat, 11 Jan 2014There was more than a bit of public indigence following the recent story of Enterprise Rent-A-Car billing a customer $47,000 to replace a Ford Mustang GT Convertible stolen from a Nova Scotia lot. To recap: Kristen Cockerill rented the Mustang for two days, returned it to the lot on a Sunday and left the keys in a secure dropbox only for Enterprise employees to find the car gone the next day.
Despite Enterprise policies stating that customers are responsible for vehicles dropped on off-days, the company has admitted that the situation could've been handled a bit better.
In a recent statement, Enterprise has backed off the big-bill story, and claims to be working with Cockerill and her insurance company to resolve the issue. Further, the Enterprise general manager overseeing Nova Scotia has spoken with the harried renter, and apologized "for the way this claim was handled during the last few months."
Ford previews updated Police Interceptor Utility for Chicago debut
Tue, Feb 3 2015With more law enforcement agencies across the United States alone than we'd care to count (or ever encounter), selling police cars means big business for American automakers, with Ford, Chevy and Dodge competing to fill the motorpools of every police department, sheriff's office and government agency in the land. For its part, Ford offers the Taurus-based Police Interceptor sedan and the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility, and it's preparing to unveil a revised version of the latter at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show in the same city where it's built. Dearborn hasn't given us much to go on with this teaser, showing just a darkened front shot of the vehicle in question with its emergency lighting all aglow. But it's fairly clear that the Interceptor Utility has been given many of the same updates applied recently to the Explorer on which it's based. That starts with the revised sheet metal, but considering that the Interceptor Utility exclusively packs V6 power, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four that was one of the biggest updates to the civilian Explorer isn't likely to carry over. Ford does, however, promise that the revised Police Interceptor Utility will be "even better" than the model it replaces" and pack "more high-tech features." Related Video:
Ford recalling select Taurus, Explorer and Lincoln MKS models over fuel tanks
Sun, 31 Mar 2013Ford is recalling certain 2012 Taurus, 2013 Explorer and 2012 Lincoln MKS models over fuel tank concerns. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicles built between July 19, 2011 and March 15, 2012 may have been built with fuel tanks that have a "marginally sealed seam" on the side. Those seams may not provide the strength necessary to protect the tank from rupture during a collision. They may also leak. The recall covers a total of 3,037 vehicles. NHTSA says that leaked fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could easily cause a fire.
Dealers will inspect the tanks and replace them as need be free of charge. Owners can expect to be notified once the campaign begins on or around April 22, 2013. You can read the full NHTSA recall notice below for more information.
