Let me first start with, I built this van to keep and camp in for years. I finally realized that my wife was right and that it is too small for a family of five to camp in.  I am the second owner.  It was bought new from Sportsmobile and spent its life in Florida stored in a garage (no rust). When I bought the van three months ago it was a two wheel drive. I had the conversion done in Salt Lake City at Advanced 4x4 (they have done over 10,000 conversions). I have driven the Quigley coil spring conversions as well as the Advanced Conversions and feel that the Advanced handles much better. Everything used in the conversion is new. It has a Dana 60 front axle with disc brakes and Warn locking hubs. The transfer case is the same one Ford motor co. uses in the Ford 550. So all of the running gear is new and has less than 200 miles on it. I also have a good friend who is a diesel mechanic go through the entire motor. When I originally started looking for a sports mobile my main requirement was the legendary 7.3 diesel. My mechanic did compression test on the motor and even ran it on a Dyno before and after the work. The engine has been modified for mileage and reliability only. It has a four inch down pipe with titanium heat wrap going into a five inch stainless steel  exhaust.   The spool in the turbo has been replaced with a Wicked Wheel and the computer has a five stage chip. All hoses on the entire motor have been replace as well as the turbo pipes. The motor has all new Ford motor co. glow plugs and injectors. I also installed a new fuel pump and fuel tank. I have also installed a pillar gauge set (trans temp, exhaust temp and turbo boost).  The stereo has been upgraded to a Pioneer that will sync to your Bluetooth, it will also play DVD’s and has a backup camera. The rims are American Racing Mojave 18inch with 33inch tires.  All five have less than 200 miles on them. The bumpers front and rear are from aluminess.com and they are not cheap. The exterior of the van has a few scratches and a small dent in front of the rear bumper on the driver side. The house batteries need replacing, they work but do not hold a charge long. All the canvas on the pop top (manual, not power) is in great shape. It has seat belts for eleven. The two bench seats in the rear fold into a bed and the penthouse has a bed as well. The van will sleep four comfortably. Three captains seats with belts.  The interior is in good shape overall. It has hot water tank and an outdoor shower head behind the rear door. It is also equipped with a city water and power hookup. Any questions feel free to send an email. I can also send more pictures if needed.

2017 Ford GT looks resplendent in Liquid Silver and will be built in Ontario

Thu, Feb 12 2015

You didn't think we'd let an opportunity to capture another high-res image gallery of our favorite vehicle from the North American International Auto Show pass by, now that it's taking center stage in Chicago, did you? Especially since it's now painted in a brand-new hue? Of course not. And so we're happy to present to you the 2017 Ford GT in Liquid Silver, wearing titanium-tinted racing stripes. It may not be as classically American as the show-stopping blue that debuted with the concept in Detroit, but it's beautiful nonetheless. And, in even better news, we hear that the GT has been confirmed for production at Ford's factory in Markham, Ontario, according to our Canadian friends at CTV News. To recap what we know about the Ford GT – besides the fact that we're in mad, mad love with it, of course – it's beautiful, will be powered by a mid-mounted 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with "more than 600 horsepower," it's beautiful, it sends all that power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, it's beautiful, blends a carbon fiber monocoque and body panels with aluminum subframes, and it's beautiful. We think it's likely headed for endurance-racing competition, as was the original GT40 that is its spiritual grandfather, and we're sure it will look good doing it. Heck, maybe it'll even win at Le Mans. In any case, check it out in high-res glory below, in multiple color schemes, in both images and video. Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment

Fri, Jun 17 2016

Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.
