This is a 1995 McCoy Miller ambulance with a Ford E-350 chassis. It is being sold by a nonprofit community health center in Detroit, Michigan. We have been in possession of the vehicle since October 2009 and have only added about 4,000 miles to the odometer in the three years we have owned it. It was previously used by Southfield Fire and Rescue in Southfield, Michigan.
The ambulance is in good cosmetic shape. We never used it to care for patients - only to haul supplies to community health fairs. The passenger compartment is intact and in good condition.
This vehicle has two unique characteristics that must be noted. First, there is an e-stop adjacent to the driver seat that must be used each time the vehicle is turned off. This was installed as a workaround to an electrical problem that could be fully addressed by someone with greater needs and resources than our own. Second, the electrical system powering the sirens and lights has been disabled; it could of course be re-enabled, but doing so would require either know-how or a visit to the shop.
The ambulance has real potential to be refurbished for patient care. It would also be an excellent and inexpensive box truck for someone who needs to carry supplies. Without a guerney, there is a great deal of cargo space in the passenger compartment.

Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013
Fri, 26 Jul 2013General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.
2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Wed, 12 Dec 20122012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:
2013 North American Car of the Year:
Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
