1988 Ford Econoline E150 Club Wagon.

This 1988 Ford Club Wagon was aquired around 6 years ago.  When I received (Big Blue) she had a nasty exhaust leak coming from the smog pump injectors.  I had the injectors removed and the openings brazed shut, the smog pump was removed, the insides of the pump were removed, the pump housing was remounted and now acts as an idler pulley.

This is my 2nd Ford Van with the inline six cylinder motor.  These motors are bullet proof.  My first Ford Van was a 1993 cargo van.  I purchased it with 185,000 miles on it,  I drove it daily to 350,000 miles and sold it in still good running condition.  The reason I sold the 1993 was because the 1988 Ford Van that I am now selling was ready to become my new daily driver.

I put a rear locking differential on this van because I drive some pretty serious hills in the winter.  I mounted studded tires in the rear and she claws her way thru the snow like nobody's business.  The van originally came from Maryland, she had very little rust when I got her, she spent the next 5 years in a covered garage just sitting, waiting to be put into the lineup.  The first winter she saw with salt was this past winter, I had the undercarriage sprayed using Carwell in Buffalo.  Carwell is a GREAT product, they spray all the local school busses, FedEx & UPS trucks, they also spray military vehicles to protect them from rusting.

I drove this van to Idaho and back last summer 2012.  She never missed a beat until the return trip in Indiana.  I had to replace the fuel pump on the frame rail.  I replaced it and the fuel filter and she was back on the road in no time.  She purrs like a kitten every day, never misses a start, one quick turn of the key and she is ready to roll.

This van is a great daily driving van, the only reason I am selling it is because I bought another Ford Van.

I equipped "Big Blue" with Bilstein Shock absorbers at all four corners, Bilstein shocks for these vans cost $100.00 per shock, they are worth it, they provide a very predictable, comfortable, safe ride.  I also installed a K&N rechargeable air filter.

I am selling this van with all the tires and rims I have for it.  You'll get 4 Mastercraft Courser A/T 235/75/15 tires, 2 MasterCraft Courser A/T 205/75/15 Studded Tires, 1 Michelin LTX 235/75/15 Tire.  5 stock Ford steel rims 15"X6.5", 2 black wagon wheel rims 15"X6.5", 2 black wagon wheel rims 15"X8".  I run the black wagon wheels in the summer with 4 Kumho Road Venture 235/75/15 tires.  That is a total of 11 tires with 9 rims... plus 5 genuine Ford Econoline series hub caps.

This van has two high back captains chairs with armrest's up front, there are 2 bench seats in back, I am also including 2 low back bucket seats which were originally up front.

This van makes a great camping vehicle as I used it on my trip out west last summer, it also is a great work van when you remove the bench seats.  This is truly a Multi Purpose Vehicle.

Gas mileage is 15MPG  in the city 17-18MPG on the highway.  She'll cruise all day long at 65-70 mph, uphills she'll get down to 55mph, steep uphills 45 mph, downhills 75-80 mph, I don't push her harder than that.

I use full synthetic motor oil 5w-30 wt. Penzoil Ultra with a K&N filter.  I also have a FilterMag attached to the oil filter for added protection.  I have put alot of expense into getting this van road worthy, it was a labor of love that somebody else can now enjoy.

I installed a new JVC KDX40 head unit last summer along with 4 new Polk Audio speakers, the system sounds great!

These motors run forever, the transmission had a shift kit installed before I got the van, all shifts are firm and authoritive, no slip, no slop.

I had new front springs installed last fall, the old ones were sagging a bit, these really tightened the front end up nicely, if I was keeping the van I would have the camber adjusted, it's a bit positive with the new springs.

I installed all new brakes and replaced some worn brake lines last summer, I also repacked the wheel bearings at that time.

The van burns no oil, drips no fluids.

She's not a barn burner, however, she'll get you there safely and in comfort.

Any questions feel free to call me, this van is for sale locally, so bidding can end at any time.

Use the "buy it now" button before someone else does and get her home!

Ford recalls 1.48 million F-150s for transmission, plus other models

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Weeks after recalling more than 800,000 F-Series pickup trucks for a fire risk, Ford has issued another separate recall for approximately 1.48 million 2011-2013 F-150s for a transmission fault. The six-speed automatics could unexpectedly downshift into first gear without warning. Ford and Lincoln tangentially issued much smaller recalls for the Mustang, Continental, Nautilus, and Navigator. According to Ford, some 2011-2013 model year F-150 pickups with six-speed automatic transmissions could "experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module." This could potentially cause the trucks to temporarily downshift, which could be dangerous if it occurs while driving. Of the 1.48 million affected trucks, 1.26 million are in the U.S. while 221,000 are in Canada. Thus far, Ford knows of five reported accidents involving the issue. To remedy the problem, owners can take their trucks to dealers to update the power control module software. Ford also issued recalls for about 4,350 2019 Mustangs, Lincoln Nautiluses, and Lincoln Navigators in the U.S. and Canada due to a possible fault with the instrument clusters. Although there have been no reports of accidents, Ford says the instrument panel clusters assemblies might be blank or not turn out when the vehicle is started. Additionally, Ford issued a third recall for 28,200 2017-2019 Lincoln Continentals in the U.S. and Canada. Ford says silicon contamination might build up inside the door latch motor, causing it to malfunction. As a result, the door latch might not always fully engage, and the doors could possibly open unexpectedly. Despite no reports of accidents, Ford will remove and replace door latch assemblies on all doors for those affected by the defect. If any of these apply to a vehicle you own, contact Ford to discuss whether it is included in any of these recalls and have the vehicle checked out at a Ford dealership.

Ford cuts F-150 fuel use through CNG-capable fleet sales, EcoBoost

Tue, May 13 2014

The possibility of $1-a-gallon fuel would make a lot of US governmental entities sit up and take notice. The state of Oklahoma and the city of Dallas are making that happen. Those two entities are buying up a bunch of Ford F-150 pickups retrofitted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG), all in the name of cost savings and emissions reduction. Oklahoma is buying 256 of the F-150s, while Dallas is buying another 65. The trucks, which cost between $6,000 and $9,500 to retrofit (on top of the original price), can run on either CNG or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). And while that's a substantial hit, conversion costs are typically paid back in three years thanks to lower refueling costs. CNG prices are as low as $1.07 a gallon in parts of Oklahoma. How much lower? The national average price for CNG is about a buck and a half less than the $3.67 average per-gallon cost of gasoline. And CNG prices are as low as $1.07 a gallon in parts of Oklahoma, where CNG is plentiful. CNG also cuts tailpipe greenhouse gas emissions by about 20 percent compared with gasoline, while the retrofitted trucks can go as far as 450 miles from their CNG tanks in addition to the 300-mile range from their conventional tanks. That's useful in a bit state like Texas. This week, the US Energy Department trumpeted a $5.9-billion loan program that Ford accessed to upgrade its factories for production of its EcoBoost engines, noting that Ford has sold a half-million F-150 trucks with EcoBoost engines. Those trucks have collectively cut fuel use by almost 57 million gallons of gas during the past three-plus years. Check out Ford's press release on the F-150 purchases below and the Energy Department's statement about its loan program here. OKLAHOMA, DALLAS ORDER 300-PLUS CNG-CAPABLE FORD F-150 PICKUPS AS DEMAND GROWS FOR ALTERNATIVE FUEL OPTION The state of Oklahoma and its agencies to buy 256 Ford F-150 trucks prepped to run on compressed natural gas; Dallas orders 65 for its fleet 2014 F-150 available with gaseous-fuel prep option on 3.7-liter V6 engine; can run on CNG or liquefied petroleum gas (also called propane autogas) By summer, Ford will offer eight vehicles that can run on clean-burning, affordable CNG; the company is on track to sell more than 15,000 such vehicles in 2014 The state of Oklahoma, its agencies and the city of Dallas have ordered a total of 321 Ford F-150 pickups that can run on compressed natural gas.

Ford opens research center in Silicon Valley

Fri, Jan 23 2015

These days, the software running a vehicle's myriad of electronic systems seems to be getting nearly as much development focus from automakers as the traditional mechanical parts that keep a car going. Constantly improving that technology requires a lot of experimentation, though, and Ford is expanding its presence in Silicon Valley with the just-opened Research and Innovation Center Palo Alto to make that progress possible. Ford opened its first office in the country's technological hub in 2012 to draw talent and devise ways to deal with vast amounts of sensor data. Apparently, setting up shop in Silicon Valley was deemed a success because the Blue Oval decided to create this new lab in the Stanford Research Park to focus on five areas: connectivity, mobility, autonomous vehicles, customer experience and analytics. Among the center's potential projects, Ford is hoping to develop better natural speech recognition, which is absolutely vital for improving infotainment systems. Assuming the tech eventually works well enough, your voice might even be used to adjust a vehicle's power seats, according to the automaker. The Blue Oval is also letting engineers from Stanford University test autonomous driving algorithms on a self-driving version of the Fusion. In a smaller stakes venture, researchers are working to get a Nest smart thermometer to automatically adjust the temperature at home depending on if an owner's vehicle is leaving or coming back. To really show that its serious about these ventures, Ford hired Dragos Maciuca away from Apple as the center's technical leader. The automaker also wants to have 125 researchers at work there by the end of the year.
