This van is like a time capsule, it is fun and comfortable to drive. We have used this van for numerous trips, it has always performed well. The interior and exterior of his van have been taken care of professionally by a local detail shop, the mechanical needs of this van have been addressed by another local shop as well. We have the temp tag from 1983 useless but interesting to look at, all owners manuals come with it as well.

Van has 64,440 miles. The 302 V8 starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly, you can not tell if it is running when sitting inside. The transmission is an AOD, it shifts through the gears flawlessly. The air conditioning is cold, the R134 conversion was done a few years ago. The tires have less than 2,000 miles on them. All interior and exterior lights operate as designed. The interior is immaculate, there are no rips, tears, or stains. Non smoking owners - never smoked in. There is not even any visible wear on the seats. It has cruise control and tilt steering. The base color of the van is silver, the stripes are black and charcoal, all are painted there are no decals/stickers on this van. The fiberglass running boards and fender flares are one piece front to back and are in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or discoloration. The undercarriage has no rust and is clean and dry, no leaks from engine, transmission, or anything else.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill threw down the gauntlet this week, proposing a bill that could send auto executives to prison for life if they were found to have delayed a recall. She also wants to eliminate the limit for fines for auto safety violations, which are currently capped at $35 million.

Ford ready to install GE Wattstations at 60 locations in North America

Upper-level Ford executives are sending mixed messages about the power of plug-in vehicles, but in the companies parking lots across North America, at least, the signal is clear: come on and charge your EV. Today, Ford and GE announced that the Blue Oval will be installing Wattstation chargers at its Dearborn HQ and will then add units at more than 60 locations across the US and Canada, including "offices, product development campuses and manufacturing facilities." If you're a Ford employee, then you get four hours of free charging a day. That should be plenty to top off any of the company's plug-in vehicles, even the Focus Electric, and the time limit encourages drivers to swap cars at lunch, because Ford wants to encourage charging station sharing and get more employees to plug in. Ford doesn't mention the DOE's Workplace Charging Challenge by name in the release (available below), but we suspect these Wattstations are part of that project. Ford was one of the founding members, joining the Workplace Charging Challenge on January 31, 2013. On that date, the Ford Motor Company and Ford dealers had over 1,750 charging stations installed on company/dealer property. This month, Ford will begin installing GE WattStation™ charging stations across its North American campuses, developing a workplace charging network at nearly every Ford facility in the United States and Canada.

Has the auto industry hit peak hybrid?

Hybrids are known for their great fuel economy and low emissions, but it looks like given current market conditions, only about three percent of new car consumers are willing to pay the premium for them. A new study from IHS/Polk finds that the hybrid market share among overall US auto sales are falling, despite more models with the technology on sale than ever before.
The study examined new car registrations in March from 2009 through 2014. In that time, the auto industry grew from 24 to 47 hybrid models available to consumers, but market share for the powertrain remained almost stagnant in that time. As of 2009, hybrids held 2.4 percent of the market; it fell slightly to 2.3 percent in 2010 and grew to 3.3 percent in 2013. However, 2014 showed a drop back to 3 percent. Overall hybrid sales have been growing since 2010, but they just aren't keeping up with the total auto market.
According to IHS/Polk, this isn't what you would expect to see. Usually, each new model in the market brings along with it a boost in sales. The growth in hybrid models 2009 to 2014 should have shown a larger increase in share for the segment.
