1978 FORD E250 QUADRAVAN 4X4 Here is one super cool BEAST! I recently found this 1978 Ford E250 Quadravan. This vehicle is amazing and built with a mega heavy duty four wheel drive system. The van has a strong running big block 460 V8, C6 Automatic Transmission and a divorced transfer case. Both solid axles have skid plates and are massive. I believe a Dana 60 in the front and a Dana 70 in the rear. The truck has factory Air Conditioning, although no belt is over the compressor currently and would guess there issues. The rig also has power steering and power disc brakes. The truck runs and drives and the transmission shifts smooth. It truck has strong oil pressure and holds good temperature. The van has duel fuel tanks and duel batteries. I love the color too! I have found zero rust issues and no signs of body filler. All the doors open and close tight and lock! The tires still have lots of meat on them! The driveline is complete and the four wheel drive operates as it should. The front seats are original and the truck comes with the original bench seat and several cool and usable captains chairs. I few things to point out about the rig I’ve noticed, the valve covers seem to be leaking a bit. The front end needs work, tie-rods ends etc. It has lots of side to side play currently but I have been driving it. Sadly...while parked, someone ran into the rear drivers side rear corner. Most of the damage luckily is on the factory seemed corner cap, and can be replaced with a two-wheel drive donor van. These are easy to find in your local junkyard. All and all this is a wonderful vehicle. It is a vehicle very worthy of the work. The truck is sold as found! Please feel free to call 210-548-1310 before bidding if you’ve got questions. Ford Explorer Jackson Pollock Edition results in trip to hospital
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Among the many useful pieces of driving advice we've taken to heart over the years, "Safely secure all cargo" is etched pretty high on our personal stone tablets. We've had a couple of frustrating moments over the years (numerous wonky cupholders and too-tall lidded cups; a radar detector that released its suction cups and dashed itself below the dashboard, etc.), but never anything like the scene above.
These photos above come courtesy of the Washington State Patrol, and they show the unfortunate aftermath of a driver, his dog, and his Ford Explorer after it crashed near the town of Belfair last week. According to reports, the man was schlepping five-gallon containers of paint inside his vehicle when he was involved in an unexplained accident. It's not clear what triggered the crash, but the impromptu abstract painting covered the whole of the interior, including the driver and his faithful companion.
The man was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, and his dog was cleaned and later taken to a humane society.

Fri, 30 May 2014Automakers getting clever about disguising development vehicles isn't anything new. Between mules wearing the sheetmetal of other cars and prototypes decked out in as much camouflage as is practical, automakers know how to make it very difficult for the general public to get an exact idea of what kind of vehicle is in development. Ford, though, is rapidly becoming the master.
We knew that the Blue Oval originally tested the durability of the aluminum construction being used for the 2015 F-150 by building an all-aluminum 2014 truck and entering it in the Baja 1000 off-road race. That's no longer a secret. What we didn't know, though, is that the aluminum development dates back to before even that, and that some of the people in question had no idea what it was they were working with.
Ford says this is the first time prototypes have ever been handed over to the public.
Has the 2015 Ford Mustang gained hundreds of pounds?
Sun, 01 Jun 2014Automakers face competing interests when it comes to developing a new generation of vehicle. On the one hand, companies want to build their cars to be safer and better handling, with more equipment and maybe even larger dimensions over the model it's replacing. On the other hand, they strive to keep weight down to the benefit of both performance and fuel consumption. Usually something has to give, and in the case of the new 2015 Ford Mustang, those efforts may have resulted in a weight penalty of two or three hundred pounds.
This according to Blue Oval modifier Steeda Autosports, which states that "the 2015 Mustang ended up gaining 200-300 pounds in this remake". Despite the Mustang not being on the market yet, it would appear the leading Ford aftermarketer has been given early access to the 2015 model to help jumpstart its tuning efforts (a rather common development among trusted tuners). If Steeda's assertion is accurate, that would make the challenge of getting the new pony car up to speed for both Ford and aftermarket customizers like Steeda that much greater.
We're waiting for official word from Ford on the veracity of Steeda's claim, but if true, it's bound to be a bit of disappointing news for legions of Blue Oval performance enthusiasts. Watch this space for more.
